Litter Box Cats And you thought the Panthers local coverage was bad

If you've ever complained about how bad local news coverage of the Panthers has been over the last few years, at least we only had one very minor gaffe where the FIU Panthers logo was on the news. Puck Daddy pointed out a pretty incredible mess of a highlight package devoted to the L.A. Kings being only a win away from the Stanley Cup Final.

Litter Box Cats A Running List of Current Panther Nicknames

via www.sfexaminer.com

So far this season we've seen much better nicknames for a number of Panther players then we've had for a number of years. So I thought I would try to compile a list of what we've been calling players especially on this blog since the season began.

Litter Box Cats THN: Huberdeau Must Return To Juniors

THN's Rory Boylen lays out a great case for why Jonathan Huberdeau should play at least one more season in the QMJHL.

I'm usually not a big fan of THN's coverage of the Panthers, but I have to say that they make a few very salient points about seasoning Huberdeau as much as possible before giving him a real crack at an NHL job.  One big one among them is that the Panthers have had a serious problem with bringing prospects to the NHL well before they're really ready to be there.  In order for the team to truly have a great farm system they need to start grooming their young talent, and letting them learn the systems and the pro game before they start playing for the big club.  Furthermore, Dale Tallon has said as much in interviews and has clearly been stocking the farm system with promising young players in the last two drafts.  Based on these things I think that the Panthers are going to try to do everything in their power to be more like the Detroit Red Wings in terms of quality drafting and farm system development.

Litter Box Cats Kevin Dineen Interview on Puck Daddy

It's some pretty cool stuff.  Some of my favorite highlights.

At what point did you start figuring out line combinations?

Oh boy … that's been going on a lot this week.

I'm not stating exactly how we're playing. You can get pigeonholed into saying things like "we're going to be a high-pressure team." But we have high-end speed, and we're going to take advantage of that.

Litter Box Cats Blackhawks Could be Shopping Sharp in Light of Hjalmarsson Offer Sheet?

According to LeBrun the Blackhawks might need to move more salary in order to come in under the cap since they've decided to match the offer sheet on Hjalmarsson.  Tallon really has a chance to upgrade the team here, Sharp can legitimately play center as well as wing as anybody who watched the Finals can attest.  The only question is who would be appealing to send to Chicago?
