A few early FA that could be upgrades
The Jets need a blocking TE to replace Mulligan in comes Will Heller yes he is 31 but he almost never gets hurt and huge at 6'6" 275 he can also catch a pass once in a while kind of like a Ballard. Now I do like Strickland, however; he's to brittle and gets hurt to many times. In walks Ron Bartell another 30 year old yet I feel he'd be an upgrade over Strickland. I also have heard a lot of talk about Winston for RT but you have to keep in mind Houston runs a zone blocking scheme. Another guy that would be an upgrade yet older at 31 is Tony Pashos who has played in many different offensive schemes. Pashos could come in and gel with his veteran leadership and skill.
Another crazy idea!
With all the Mario,Mario, and more Mario talk. I had a thought about another way, a lot of you will say no way to this, yet just hear me out, then bash me.
The first thing is the signing of Calais Campbell 6'8" 300lbs. This kid is the bookend to Wilkerson. Now here's the kicker Shaun Rogers and Fat Albert Haynesworth. I know I know don't scream at me. The thing is Rex for some reason gets his guys to play hard all the time.
First let me say that with Pouha maybe on his way out the door, I don't feel comfortable with Ellis and Mtv manning the NT position. I also don't like the idea of Devito playing NT either. I really feel that the Jets could use Rogers for a year to let Ellis and Mtv develope more this coming year. The other thing is Fat Albert, sure he's a head case yet, I think Rex could handle him and get him to play at a high level again. Yes, they are both 30+ but think of it? The Jets with Dunbar could be thinking of running a little more 4-3 alignments which could look something like this:
RDE. Wilkerson,Ropati,Haynesworth
RDT.Haynesworth,Dixon,Rogers
LDT.Devito,Ellis,Dixon
LDE.Campbell,Ropati,Haynesworth
and the 3-4:
RDE.Wilkerson,Devito,Ropati
NT.Rogers,Ellis,Mtv
LDE.Campbell,Devito,Ropati
This can be changed up with many different looks. IMO this would be a dominate and confusing front 4 and rotation on the cheap. I'm one for confusing the QB, who's lined up where. If you throw in Ingram and Lowerys versatility to this soup, could be a real nightmare for OC's to breakdown. Now you can scream at me. Thanks for reading.
Just a few interesting thoughts
With the report of the Jets changing the press conference up, could it be the announcement we the Fans finally want to hear. If it is awesome HORAY!!! yes, yet maybe it could be to reaffirm that Schitty is the OC and thats final! Then what, what are we the fans to do, me I really don't know?
The other interesting little tidbit is that the Rams have cut ties with Spagnolo and, Devaney the GM, could the new regime shop Bradford. This can be very interesting, sure Bradford had a down year but, Rodgers and Brees would of been hard pressed to win any games with that supporting cast. This kid is big, strong armed and really has it put together. He can be an elite QB IMO with the right supporting cast.
I really like Sanchez but, if Schitty stays in place with Cavanaugh he will regress even more. Sanchez needs to get back to his USC throwing form, he has horrible mechanics they have gotten worse since coming to the Jets not better, which there suppose to get better. IMO if Sanchez wants to really get serious and be the team leader and, take a huge leap instead of going home to S Cali. for 4 months he needs to take off a month to lick his wounds and get back at it in Florham to train and workout with his teammates. This would really show that he means business to get better.
Just one other thought to bring in some team chemistry. I really feel that Carrier as the DL coach isn't working. The Jets should hire Jenkins as the DL coach. He knows all the DL assignments and, can teach his technique. Jenkins always when healthy played at 110% and, left everything on the field. he could really help the young guns elevate their game and become monsters.
I love the Jets BUT.....
I just don't see them winning against the Phins, here are the reasons why:
1. RT Hunter will not hold up against Langford or McDaniel.
2. Sanchez will have no time cause he will be running for his life.
3. Vontae Davis and Sean Smith are no slouches at CB as are ours.
4. Fasano at TE is a sleeper.
5. OLBer's on passing downs Wake and Taylor are both very good at rushing the QB.
The Jets will have to pound the rock effectively then mix in some pass, and the D will have to bring their A+ game. I'm always looking at the glass half full, yet I look at the match up and it just doesn't look good. The only good news is that Long is out.
It's early for us, yet college is done....
Well almost, besides week 12 is this coming weekend and that's 3/4 of the season over, gone, finished you get the point. If you think it's to early to start talking about the off season well your wrong most FO in the NFL have a draft board already, as well as FA they will be targeting.
Now I know that Schotty has been given an extension but contracts can be broken. If the Jets offense implodes these next 5 games the FO will have to do something and the guy I'd like to see take the offense over would be Norv Turner. He may not be head coach material but as an offensive cordinator he is one of the best. If the FO decides to go another way for instance like firing some assistants, the first guy on my list for QB coach would be Ken Zampese from Cincy look what he has done with Dalton. The next coach would be WR that guy is Terry Robiske from Atlanta, RB Kelly Skipper from Oakland or Chick Harris from Houston, finally TE Terry Malone from NO. While I was doing this little bit of research I did notice one thing about the GB staff and, that was that they have an OLB coach and, an ILB coach same go's for CB and SAF. I really feel this would be a wise thing to do, first off I don't think Carrier is doing that great of a job with the DL he's a better fit with the DB's and Thurman. I've said this before hire Kris Jenkins as the DL coach, as he already knows the DL assignments. Then hire Bryan Cox to coach the OLB, Cox is coaching in Miami, where his title is pass rush coach. I'm not saying to fire Bob Sutton or Bill Callahan, they are two of the best at what they do, I just think that the Jets need to reassess the coaching staff.
We all know the problem's of the Jets lack of talent at RT, SAF, and OLB. I do agree that Vlad isn't a RT he should be moved to RG, Moore seems to be falling off with the age bug catching up to him, going after Gaither would be a smart move even if he can't start he'd add great depth. IMO hand him a playbook and, let him heal up the rest of the season so he will be healthy at 100% for next year. Vlad has shown very good run blocking, he has seemed lost in pass pro, if you get him working at one position that he can focus on he will be just fine.
The saftey position is going to be a little harder. The FO needs to grow a pair and tell Rex no more Smith and Leonhard and, here you go you get Pool and we resigned Lowery or maybe Laron Landry, Sean Jones, Abe Elam anyone of these players would be a huge upgrade over what the Jets have right now. The Jets also have a full complement of draft picks and then some, this coming draft has some deep talent. I'll list two players for each saftey position.
Free Saftey:
1. George Iloka, Boise ST. ;6'3" 216lbs.He has been projected to run anywhere from a 4.42 - 4.50, also projected as a 4th to 6th round pick, also is a 4 year starter Iloka finished with 50GP, 164 solo, 63 assists, 227 total, 14 TFL, 1 sack, 17 BU, 14 PD, 7 INT and 2 FF.
2. Christian Thompson, South Carolina ST.; 6'1" 218lbs. projected 40. 4.36 - 4.46 projected 7th round. Thompson transferred from Auburn. He has also played some SS. haven't been able to locate any stats since SC ST is a FCS school.
Strong Saftey:
1. Kelcie McCray, Arkansas ST.; 6'1.5" 195lbs.projected 40. 4.38 - 4.48. projected 6th - 7th round. he is a redshirt senior. 47 GP, 111 solo, 87 assists, 198 total, 6.5 TFL, 10 INT, 12 BU, 3 FRC, 2 FF.
2. Donovan Richard, South Carolina ST.; 5'11.5" 215lbs. projected 40. 4.32 - 4.43, projected as a UDFA plays MLB ans SS. 35 GP, 189 Tackles, 12 TFL, 13 BU, 4 INT, 6 sacks.
IMO draft one of each position, let them study and learn the system for a year then bam, two really good safties for years to come, that can cover as well as, support the run. I really like Iloka cause of his size and speed. Iloka would be a great fit size wise he'd be able to hang with the more athletic TE, speed wise he can hang with WR and RB.
Now lets move on to OLB well how about just LB. Lets start with OLB I do think the Jets have some players they are just not developing correctly like Ricky Sapp one week he's a PS addition next week he's a deletion. Another is Jarron Gilbert at 6'5" 285, unless Rex is planing on playing a lot more 4-3 he doesn't fit. IMO get him in the gym to slim down to 260 - 265 and turn him into an OLB, Gilbert is an athletic freak he would be a monster in a stand up role. Back to Sapp whom has all the tools to be an OLB his biggest problem has been injuries, if he can stay healthy and learn the position the Jets would have 3 young OLB that can bring the heat. I mean look that would be Maybin at 23, Sapp at 25, Gilbert at 25, Westerman at 26, and keep Pace for some Veteran leadership, plus it would cost the Jets more than $9.1 mil. to cut him which would be a savings of only a little over $1.75 mil. no brainer. There are 2 very good prospects in the draft.
1.Whitney Mercilus, Illinois 6'3" 265lbs. projected 40. 4.58 - 4.68 a redshirt junior. 35 GP, 35 solo, 38 assists, 73 total, 21 TFL, 15.5 sacks, 2 BU, 2 PD, 8 QBH, 1 FRC, 9 FF. Whitney can set the edge however, sometimes gets washed out at times, throws his man aside with authority, good bull rush and burst off the edge. Has long arms and uses them well to string plays out to get to ball carrier in trash.
2. Nick Perry, USC 6'2.5" 250lbs.projected 40. 4.52 - 4.59, redshirt junior. 36 GP, 24 GS, 61 solo, 39 assists, 100 total, 30.5 TFL, 20.5 sacks, 5 BU, 5 PD, 2 FRC, 3 FF. Perry always gets his hands up to clog passing lane, plays in a 3 point and stand up, can drop into coverage with no problems, sets the edge in the run defense, has a very good bull rush against bigger OT, awesome quickness of the edge, can change direction from an outside speed move to the inside instantly, also uses his arm's to keep bigger OT off him.
The ILB position is a little different I mean Harris maybe somewhat slow but he makes plays, a constant around the ball. I really would love to let Scott go, but the cap hit is just way to much like $7.2 mil. and a savings of $1.25 mil. another no brainer. Mauga has been okay I just don't see him as the heir apparent to Scott, he's a good 2nd string guy. I really think we need to look for an upgrade inside that can replace Scott.
1.Manti Te'o, Notre Dame 6'1.5" 255lbs. junior, projected 40. 4.50 - 4.60. projected 2nd round. 36 GP, 146 solo, 154 assists, 299 total, 26.5TFL, 6.5 sacks, 6 BU, 6 PD, 8 QBH, 3 FF. Manti is always around the ball even on pass plays, reads QB eye's very well, Manti was quoted saying that the defense came out with "ill intentions" in mind he is the kind of player the doctor ordered. He also has good pass rushing skills
2. Bruce Irvin, West Virginia 6'2" 245lbs. projected 40. 4.43 - 4.55. projected 2nd round. I know that he plays DE but, I watched some game tape of him and think he would be a better fit at either LB postion you can't ignore 26 TFL and 29.5 sacks, yet I really feel he is kind of a one trick pony with his pass rushing skills. I think standing him up he'd be able to use his speed more effectively and, we know how Rex likes to blitz from the inside.
The big one the Jets need to address RT since Hunter can't block a paper bag and, Vlad really would be a better fit at RG. I did mention Gaither but he is not the be all end all. With looking into next years FA class there's really no super star tackle's, the short list is Demetrius Bell Buffalo, Levi Brown Arizona, Barry Richardson Kansas City and, Khalif Barnes Oakland, that's pretty much it so the draft is the way to go for the fix. I only really like one guy.
1.Levy Adcock, Oaklahoma ST. 6'5" 322lbs. Adcock graded out at 100% for the 2010 season with not allowing 1 sack all season and thats nothing to sneeze at considering he had to deal with the likes of Von Miller, Sam Acho, Pierre Allen, Phil Taylor, Jeremy Beal, Ricky Elmore, and Brooks Reed, not to shabby. I watched a couple of interviews of this kid and, he is a perfect fit for the Jets, real "Old School" as Adcock labeled himself. He says he likes to grind 3 - 5 yrds. at a time also, likes the cold and snow. I really like this kids attitude.
I do have a short list of FA that I'd like to add:
LB
1,Blackstock
2,Groves
3,Avril
4,Jackson
5,Lawson
6,Spencer
DE
1,Campbell
2,Golston
3,Fanene
NT
1,Soliai
2,Okoye
DL
1,Carriker
2,Dockett
WR
1,D.Jackson
2,Simpson
3,Schilens
RB
1.M.Bush
2,Hillis
3,Rice
4,Forte
5,Grant
TE
1,M.Bennett
CB
1, Rogers
I'm not saying get all these players, just some that the Jets FO should look at maybe 2 or 3 could really help them over the hump, then hell! what do I know? that's why I'm posting this and not doing it.
I Bleed Green BUT....
The Jets need to have a bad season, actually a losing season. I know don't kill me but just read on hopefully I make my point clear, crystal at that.
A bad season might help jettison Schotty out of NY instead of renewing his contract, which is up at the end of the year. The other thing the Jets should do coaching staff wise is, hire Kris Jenkins as a DL coach he knows all the assignments along the DL, Jenkins always wanted to dominate where ever he was lined up maybe he can teach that attitude to the young guns. Then put Carrier with Thurman, with the DB's where he belongs. The other D coach they should go after is Bryan Cox he is one of the top guy's out there. When he coached the Jets DL they had a nasty attitude that he infused into them. IMO the Jets should can, the whole offensive staff except for, Callahan and maybe Devlin and Lynn, dump the rest. Ellard hasn't done enough the to keep him the WR's have had games where they have dropped catch able balls see GB qame 2010.
The next thing is that maybe the FO will re-evaluate the roster like the saftey, LB and OL maybe even RB. We the fans already know these are the most glaring spots in need of help. The saftey spot is a no brainer the hybrid experiment has failed with Smith, he commits to many PF, and a liability in coverage. Leonhard is only still here cause of Rexs' fault of being too loyal, Philly has just cut Jarrad Page to make room for a WR. IMO Page would be a upgrade over both of them. The OL right side has become a problem Moore seems to be falling off but, that could be the Hunter factor, yet I still think Vlad would be perfect at RG. Then sign a FA or Draft an elite RT. The LB problem could be fixed with what the Jets have already, they have Maybin on the roster. The other guy is on the PS Sapp, and I hope Gilbert comes back, first off Sapp can be a monster he has the tools. Gilbert is an athletic freak use it, slim him down to 260-265 from 285 to get his speed up there you have it two more OLB that have PR ability that are all young. The RB position isn't as easy since we really don't know what the Jets have, reason being is the inability of the OC to use them correctly. I still fell that Green and Mc Knight with Connor is formidable backfield, and until the Jets get rid of Schotty we won't know.
Sanchez needs a very good running game to be a successful QB, He is better off play action, moving the pocket and, boots he is not a pocket passer like Brady. Sanchez is better moving than sitting he needs to have a target and go to it, when he sits and is trying to make a decision he gets overwhelmed and makes mistakes. Once again the Schotty factor rears its ugly head again. I rest my case a losing record could bring his demise I'm out.
Not feeling good about this win ? and season?
I was able to watch this game for a change, as I live out of the TV viewing market and, was not impressed. The gameplan was horrible IMO, so let me disect the problems, starting with the offense first.
IMO why come out trying to run first pass second, slow tempo offense, instead of a uptempo, pass first to set the run up.I would have came out no huddle to really get the offense in a groove. The reason is that it would put the defense on their heels, as well as getting the Jags two big DT tired real fast to make them a non-factor, as the Jags depth along their DL isn't good . I know that the OL was having some problems at RT which hopefully will be addressed soon, how I really don't know but something needs to be done and, quick. The right side of the OL was the Jets run side last year, which is now a problem area, and now the left side is the strong side, with Slauson slowly becoming a truly elite LG. Then why not run behind the left side with some counters, pitches and, tosses.
First I have to qualify that I love Sanchez BUT, he still needs to improve in recognizing coverages which counts for one of the two int's yesterday. The other was because of locking on to a WR, however the play design was a bit at fault, I mean why would you bunch 3 WR together like that to get an ISO on the other side, then you better have Holmes or Burress lined up on the ISO side, even Keller or Cumberland would have worked. This whole thought go's into where is the Tom Moore influence ? I haven't seen it so far as I can tell it still seems to me that Schoty is still up to his bad game plan and execution of it.
The defense has been okay not lights out, unlike the grade's that I've seen these sports writers have given them. Why you ask? The Jags as well as the Cowboys have suspect OL. The Cowboys have practically no starting experience. Then the Jags have probably a worse OL then the Chiefs or Seahawks, well maybe not that bad but, you get what I'm saying. The Jets front 7 should've won every time hands down, every run play stuffed, every pass play a hit, pressure or sack. In the past two weeks the Jets run defense has given up over 100 yards total each game which is not good, considering that they have Baltimore with Ray Rice, Oakland with DMC and, Miami with Daniel Thomas. Then the Jets pass D has to deal with Brady and Rivers, sure the CB situation is looking good with Wilson starting to show his ability as a 3rd. However without pressure it won't matter how good they are. The saftey position is still a concern little Jim is a total liability in coverage and, Pool has been a non-factor. Rex and, Pettine need to deep six that silly ass overload blitz that doesn't work. They really need to get more creative, for instance I was switching to the Carolina Green Bay game and they where talking about a defensive front that Rivera calls a Nascar front where its all speed pass rushers and, it seemed to be working real well or how about those 1 down lineman sets or a bunch set, isn't defense all about fooling the offense or, shall I say like poker.
So all in all the coaching staff has to still mature starting with Rex, this here we are stop our running game and, go ahead and try to run on us attitude is getting old. Rex has to start realizing that his team doesn't have the horses up front to play that ground n' pound game. The defense is starting to get over played they need to get more exotic with the fronts, Rex has become very predictable in his game plans and, until he lets those go by the way side the Jets and, I hate to say it will never win the SB this year. The Pats, Ravens, Steelers, Texans, Chargers even the Bills and Titans have gotten better. I'm not the sky is falling type person, I'm more of the glass is half full, but I've seen enough that, this is going to be a long season for us as fans, and the Jets as a team.
I really don't understand ?
I was looking through the roster cuts, and thought to myself wow their are some really good players that could help the Jets.
I don't understand why the FO didn't go after some more experienced OL depth with likes of; Max Jean Gilles, Ray Dominguez and Pat McQuistan all of whom have in season playing time.
Then their where the LB's starting with Prescott Burgess and, George Selvie both of whom could improve the OLB position.
Then Zac Diles, Xavier Adibi and, Tavares Gooden, Diles is a tackling machine! Coming into his 5th year he has amassed 223 tackles,1 sack, 1 safety, 3 pdef and, 1 int not bad for a guy that was a UDFA. Xavier Adibi and, Tavares Gooden are both young guns that have some real upside.
The satey position I was looking at either Perrish Cox whom played CB last year and, pretty good. Another guy who I thought could make the crossover was Brandon Ghee this guy flies at a 4.37 6'0" 192lbs. perfect to turn into a Ed Reed or Troy cross breed, very smart coming from Wake Forest. Their is also Akwasi Owusu-Ansah 4.32 6'0" 207lbs could be a monster at SS, get him in the gym to gain some muscle to get him to maybe 217 - 222lbs. so what he'd now run at 4.37 - 4.42 after the weight gain still a lot faster than any other saftey on the roster right as of now.
Finally WR they go get Mardy Gilyard unproven, instead of maybe Laurent Robinson or Seyi Aijrotutu both of whom proved to be very effective at times. Seyi proved last season that he was a very capable WR when the Chargers needed him to step up, and be the man. Robinson has had his moments where he has been at that tier just under the elite's or superstar's.
So in closing I just have a hard time with the FO going with that let's promote from within instead of getting the best player's available, now I'm not saying that promoting from within isn't a good thing in certain situation's. IMO when it comes to PS addition's or, when they need some proven depth at any position, you get best available and, someone with some experience preferably so, if needed they can step right in and, their would be barely no drop off in play. You don't trade a playmaker away for a unproven player that has no experience at alll
Burfict is Perfect in opener with 3 sacks sure it was against UC Davis, still 3 sacks one game awesome doesn't describe it, how about domination! love this guy, want this guy, I'm going to keep a very close eye on him through out the season
Stop the Insanity!!!!!
I'm hearing that we have to re-sign Cromartie," the knucklehead" which, is just not the truth. There are two more options out there for the Jets:
1, Carlos Rogers whom is a very very good cover corner and, would probably come pretty cheap.
2, Chris Carr I know, I know, some of you don't want to hear his name any more but, he is a highly qualified corner who fits the Jets system.
I've also heard a couple of people mentioning Marshall he's a very good zone corner but, he wouldn't fit the Jets system. IMO Rogers is the perfect fit get him to sign a 2 or 3 year deal and, back load the money. It would give Kyle enough time to hone his skills at the nickle.
I also feel that the Jets should let Braylon walk to save even more money and, sign some one like Floyd or Naanee cheaper again, with those savings then sign two rush backers like Manny Lawson again probably cheap and, the big ticket would be Antwan Barnes who has yet to re-sign, I keep hearing that he's gonna re- sign but, still hasn't so, he is still fair game. The name of this game is more bang for the buck, don't they call that Billy Ball in Baseball and, to boot if not Barnes go after Quentin Moses that way we make a division rival weaker or even Presscott Burgess. There are plenty of good players out there. The Jets do not need to become the Redskins of the AFC or the Raiders so, let's calm down and, take a deep breath Magic man Mike T has got this he hasn't steered the Jets wrong yet.
Even If Nnamdi gos with Cowgirls
Then go get Rodgers for less money and, spend it on a pass rusher like Barnes. Then maybe either keep Bray or, go with Floyd or, Naanee who could also save some dollars, all is not lost without signing Nnamdi sure It would be great to have him in the fold but, he is not the be all end all for the Jets. It could actually be a good thing I know I know buzzkillington. Lets face it the Jets could go out and sign three very good players for the price of Nnamdi. Like the afore mentioned or some others, I've heard some clamoring's for Huff for SAF, or maybe some one else you might think is suited for the Jets
FINALLY !!!!!!
I would like to wish everybody here on GGN a Happy Thanks Giving, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year as well as, a Happy 4th of July, well it certianlly feels like it. I mean let the free for all begin. I've been dreaming of this for two weeks now like when I was six or seven years old on Christmas eve and, it's finally here I guess God is a Football fan to.
A foreseeable scenario maybe?
The scenario is that Edwards, Holmes,Cromartie, Hunter,B.Smith and, E.Smith where to sign with other teams, Then Woody had given up on waiting for the Jets to call and signed with lets say the Redskins, the Jets had cut Thomas already, and Taylor signed with the Ravens. Sure that would give them a lot of cap space to play with so with that in mind here's a short list of players that the Jets should look at, oh I almost forgot in this scenario is that Vlad hasn't been looking to good he came in fat and way out of shape so they need to sign a veteran RT, 2 -3 WR, 1 CB a SAF and a OLB or 2.
Here's the list of potential players:
K.Barnes:6'5" 325lbs, big strong could be a real road grader for the run game.
J.Clary:6'6" 320Lbs. SD could let him walk as they just signed Mcneill to huge contract that he held out for and Dombroski filled in they could see it as a real win win for them as Dombroski is the cheap way to go.
J.Trueblood:6'8" 320lbs. It looks like James Lee has taken his spot away from him as Trueblood is the better run blocker of the two Lee is more balanced.
J.Gaither:6'9" 340lbs. this is an iffy one cause of his injury last year which has to do with his back, while he is a premier talent and want big bucks he will have to pass all the pshyicals. This another one of those last season Oher move to the RT and Cousins stepped up to fill in at LT and did it well so the Ravens might just cut their losses and go the cheaper rout.
Now I'm going to list a few players starting WR;
S.breaton
M.Floyd
J.L.Higgins
M.Sims-Walker
C.Stuckey
OLB/DE or rushbackers
J.Moss 6'7" 257lbs.
Q.Moses 6'5" 260lbs.
K.Dawson 6'3" 254lbs.
T.Scott 6'5" 255lbs.
A.Barnes 6'1" 254lbs.
M.Kiwanuka
M.Lawson
CB
J.Joseph
C.Rogers
SS
Pool
M.Bullitt
FS
M.Huff
E.Weddle
D.Whitner
U.Young
and a few ILB
M.Wilhelm
P.Poslszny
B.Rudd
B.Siler
so lets talk about it or maybe you might feel someone is better suited for this list
With the lockout end in sight.......
Do you think the Jets players that don't live in the surrounding area are here well, I hope they are.I mean look at the "ehum mistake?" the Packers made. I hope the Jets players are chomping at the bit to get into the weight room as well as the trainer, doctors for the players that need to get checked out ie: Ropati as well as others. For me I really hope they are starting to get to town, Sanchez should be calling everyone on the offensive side telling them to get their ass on a plane and get here, same goe's for Scott on the defensive side.
Some real deep UDFA's
I posted that I will be coming out with this list, what I'm going to do is just list position's, players name and, school you can go look for the particulars, I used CBS then listed one position, then made the 40 the priority or height or weight you get the drift. I would then go to NFL draft scout and check them out, so have fun or bash me I'm ready.

Kentrell Lockett from S.Miss. I found this guy on the NFL site I can't find any info of real substance on him but his measurables are intreging.
So thats the list I consider these players worthy enough for the Jets to take a good look at, some have some character issues some are small school guy's but you just never know
FS Colin Jones TCU
Colin Jones wasn't a combine invite but, should have been, at his recent Pro-Day. Colin blew it up. I'm going to give stats in a minute and, do a side by side comparsion against Jaiquawn Jarret that some of you like:
Colin Jones:5'11.4",201lbs. played Division I J.Jarrett:5'11.7",198lbs. played Division II

The numbers don't lie when it come's to DB's, Jones is faster and, athletic than Jarrett, plus Jones has played in the pass happy mountain west conference with a few Bowl games under his belt, in which the Rose he just played in had a sack. I'm now going to list their 2010 stats as well as career stats:

I know this was long but, if you go to cfbstats.com and, look at each year the progression is evident of Jones he got better every year as Jarrett fell a little in 09 &10 his best statistical year was 08. I think Jones would be a great fit for the Jets back 7, yes Jarrett has some big numbers in the tackling and, turnovers as compared to Jones but as of right now, nfldraftscout has his stock rising but still listed as a UDFA which could be a real steal if the Jets could get him without even wasting a pick that would be awesome. This kid has it all plus he played in a aggressive top ranked defense, TCU's D made Wisconsin look pretty inept in the Rose Bowl and, he was part of the reason.
Jalil Brown FS for Jets plus
I was reading on some pro-day workout results and, Colorado's Brown had a terrific pro-day he improved his 40 to under 4.5 they also said he looked just as fluid as Jimmy Smith did in position drills which was very good this guy can cover and, lay the wood he is strong with 24 reps. at 6'1" 197lbs. he could be an awesome saftey he as of now ranked at a late round 3 or early 4 as per NFL Draft Scout
I think he'd be an excellent piece to the D. with Taylor as the #1 pick and Brown as the #3 pick the Jets then solidify the D with an influx of talented youth it's either him or some FA.
I mean figure it out they'd have Revis, Wilson who will pan out and, Brown, with Lowery, Smith and, Pool in the backend. Then you have Taylor, Gilbert, Dixon, Ropati, Devito, Mtv, and, Pouha. I know he's 31 but still he's a very good NT plus, who know's what they do with Ellis or if they bring back Jenkins so DL is going to be better you watch the only really problemed area would be LB except for the inside other than that they a really not to good coverage is horrible and, QB pressure is even worse but, if they can get the DL to eat more space and, take up more blockers they could just do the job they need them to.
I know these are a lot of IF'S but, let's have some faith that the Jets FO can pull of some great things this off season even with the way things are right now Tanny is as shrewd as they come and, Rex knows talent when he see's it.
Falcoholics talking up Vernon?
I read that link from yesterday's flight connection, had to put in my 2 cents over there, some of them were talking about Jamal anderson being a bust for them. So how about it 6'5" 289lbs. could ask him to bulk up maybe 15 - 20 lbs. putting him at anywhere from 305 to 310 nice DE size for our system, he could then play at either DT/DE, could be a real steal for the Jets.He might need that Rex kick in the ASS to get him going, look at what he is doing with Dixon and Gilbert he got them going even Mtv a PS guy all year then has him playing in the AFC title game, may have not been the best spot to get him playing experience but still. So Anderson could work if he was cut or maybe a FA I didn't check sorry?
It's all just semantic's
All of the FA speculation's is just talk until they get a new deal hammered out but, let's just for argument sakes say that the new deal is that players need 3yrs.to become a FA which is just what the players are looking for and, could very well get as, the owners have up to now have been winning the battles so far.The owners may throw that bone to them to make them feel good.
The 18 game thing is going to be happening now, how will they deal with the injury problem, will they expand roster's? me I hope so. will they allow more PS players? I hope so. will they make the salary cap higher as well as soften it? me I hope so.
With all this I've made a small list of players that could help the Jets Defensive problem areas such, as NT and the PR. I also want to hear your feelings on bringing back Bryan Cox as a DL/LB coach since he is available.
#1:KC Wallace Gilberry, he's in his 3rd year, had a real good year for KC, can play up or down,he's 6'2" 268lbs., the other thing is that, Hali will be the one getting the tag which, leave's him free to field offers.
#2:Tampa Barrett Rudd, this guy would be great in Rex's system lined up next to Harris, I know a lot of you are saying no way Tampa will let him walk! well that's not true from the reports I've heard and, read. Tampa has gone back to running a lot more of the the infamous Tampa 2, which he dosen't fit so he will likely be on the market.
#3:I happen to really think this guy would be great in the Jets system, S.F. Manny Lawson the guy is a freak at 6'4" 250lbs. runs like the wind somewhere high 4.4 to a very low 4.5 that's crazy. I know this guy didn't have a great year this year but, who did on that team. Lawson responded to Nolan's coaching and system well which, is kind of like the Jets system.
#4:This would be a great addition, S.D. Antonio Garay 6'4" 320lbs. had a very good 2010 campaign he can play anywhere on the line NT/DT/DE.With AJ Green still at the helm of this team anything is possible.
#5:I know this is a reach but how about Lamarr Woodley. I know but, hear me out on this one, Pitt. just drafted Worilds last year at a much lower salary then Wood will be asking for and, they could draft another guy of his nature in the later rounds and, save themselves a bunch of cash. This is just a thought, most likely won't happen as the Rooney's have always taken care of their players in the past.
#6:NE Tully Banta-Cain, He can pressure the QB and finish with sacks, could be a stop gap for a season to let a rookie develope and learn
The last two are suspended as of now so I don't really know what to think but, I do like the one not so high on the other since he already has 3 strikes on him with the league next one could be it for him.
GB: Johnny Jolly 6'3" 325lbs. can play any technique along the line.
Tampa again now, this is the guy I have big concern's about, Tanard Jackson, he really started coming on strong, then got suspended for his 3rd violation against the league. This is a big concern cause the next one is it, he would be done until King Godell oops that's a freudian slip, saw fit. I like him we have to keep in mind Weedle will be on the market as well as Landry and Goldson from SF, plus Jackson played T2 or cover2 he may not be as good in the Jets system as he is in Tampa's.
so let the bashing begin let me know your thoughts on any of it.
In Depth Off-season
First things first fire BS, and hire McDaniels I know a lot of you don't like him but he would be a much better OC for Sanchez.. Then if they could demote Rex back to DC and hire Cowher as HC to get the court jester of the NFL tag off of the Jets, nobody is going to take the Jets serious until Rex knocks the stand up routine off he isn't HC material how many HC that where silly and cracked jokes all the time won the superbowl "0" Bill "the una bomber" Belicheat, Bill Walsh, Joe Gibbs, Brian Billick, our cross town rivals HC Tom Coughlin, Don Shula just to name a few, I hope you get the picture serious guy's, not some bad stand up routine at some dive of a comedy club. The Jets will not win a superbowl with Rex at the helm he either needs to be demoted to DC or needs to knock his clown routine off and get down to become a real HC.
Alright know that the coaching staff is straightened out we move on to re-signings, and cuts, as well as some trades. Lets first look at the Offensive side of the ball seems to me the line is okay Slauson is shaping into a decent LG. The problem is what about Woody he is getting old fast and, Vlad isn't really ready unless, Callahan gets him working really hard during the off-season then maybe just maybe he'll be ready. The TE situation is very good but, could be better we keep Hartsock, which I read on somebody else's post they wanted to get rid of him, no way! dump Mulligan Then sign Zach Miller from Oakland very good TE can block and catch we could then run 3 TE formations with Keller,Miller and Maybe Cumberland that could be real fun. Time to talk about some WR's I really don't know how I feel about any of them, Jco. has had some piss poor games this year Tone has had some big catches as well as some big drops. Then you have Bray who has disappeared at times which could have been by game plan. The good thing about this is that there is going to be a lot of elite WR's on the Market this coming year. IMO keep both with incentive laden contracts if they don't like it let em walk. The RB's situation isn't as sunny as everyone thinks it is. I mean Green is a monster but LT is slowing and, I love the guy but guess what it's a business of winning in the NFL so let him walk and sign yes another Oakland player Mike Hart, young and hungry to get out from behind DMC, and is a good pass catcher, and let Joe Mc develope into our own Reggie Bush perfect size for it. How about some cuts like Clemens and T.Rich. father time is calling! see if Brunell wants a to stay onto coach up Sanchez or, if we get McDaniels they won't need him.The offense is now done no draft picks towards it not a thing.
Time to get into some Defense which needs a complete overhaul except for a few spots like Harris, Revis, Cromartie and Pace as well as a few others like Pouha and Devito, trade Scott for some draft picks and that's about it there's really nobody worth trading the rest are old men let Ellis walk, JT Walk, Thomas 31 restructure and he can be a rotation guy, Coleman walk, Pool walk, Smith walk, Gholston run, Pryce walk, restructure Jenkins then Sign Cro which should be pretty easy considering the market will have a lot of talent, so the D roster would look something like this:
DL:DeVito
DL:Dixon
DL:Gilbert
DL:Pouha
DL:Jenkins
DL:Pitoitua
ILB:Harris
OLB:Thomas
OLB:Pace
LB:Westerman
LB:Mauga
SS:Leonhard
SS:Ihedigbo
CB:Revis
CB:Cromartie
CB:Lowery
CB:Wilson
CB:Cole
Now we got a lot of hole's to fill out the one glaring spot is OLB and FS and unless the Jets are ready to turn Lowery into a fulltime FS which would be a really great fit for him IMO. They would need to sign one cause there's really no good FS in this draft class. To fill this spot I'd say Eric Weedle Awesome FS or even Dashon Goldson, a few other FA's that I'm kind of high on are Paul Soliai, Allan Branch, Cullen Jenkins, Manny Lawson, and Tamba Hali any two of these players would greatly enhance the Pass Rush. Then the Jets could go draft some real good defensive players. I.'ve looked at a couple of mocks for this coming draft and the best pick so far that I agree with is Phil Taylor from Baylor he's 6'3.5" 340lbs. this guy is an animal he benches 455lbs. and squats 655lbs. very smart too he was 09 selection to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll,or they can go ILB with Dontay Moch extremely fast and good size just about 6' 1.5" 242lbs. they are predicting him to run somewhere in the high 4.3 to low 4.4 range, as well as 22 TTFL which is good for 5th in the nation, this kid is flying up everyone's board. they have him somewhere in the 2nd as of now pending his combine workout which could catapult him into the lower 1st round. I'm kind of leaning towards Moch to team up with Harris now that would be a nice tandem a real lightning and thunder, onto rounds 2-7.
A solid mid 2 Marvin Austin from UNC, I know he has issues maybe he has grown up? at 6'2.5" 310lbs.,Extremely athletic, quick first step, excellent pass rush moves, spin, swim, club, rip, and bull and very good at taking on cut blocks.
As of now ranked round 2-3 Kenrick Ellis from Hampton 6'4.5" 340lbs. very athletic for his size, excellent, very strong arms & hands to keep lineman off him they're comparing him to Kris Jenkins, nice!
Sam Acho a 2nd-3rd round guy,6'2.5" 260lbs. a very smart headsy player that has a nose for the ball he is also, a William Campbell Trophy winner, Ronnie Lott Impact Award Finalist, Walter Camp 2nd team,All American 3rd Team, phew! this guy is a high character player you want on your team, a leader, they have him running a 4.62-4.72 40, anything around 4.65 would be great, had 8 sacks this year and 15.5 TTFL,5FF,5FR so this guy can play.
Moving a little deeper is Cliff Matthews from South Carolina, personally I'd love to see him in a Jets Uni. 6'3.5" 266lbs. runs somewhere in the 4.68-4.77 range but listen to this little tidbit. "A very high motor, very hard worker on and off the field, possess tremendous quickness, athleticism & superior overall ability" love it and the Jets need him right now ranked in the 4th-5th round, all SEC 2nd Team.
Ricky Elmore, Arizona; 6'4.5", 260lbs. I've seen them saying he'll run anywhere from a 4.69 - 4.83 40, a 4.72 would be nice has also racked up 11 sacks this year and that's #8 in the country a solid 5th.
Here is another great deep pick Markus White, FSU; 6'3.5", 262lbs. somewhere between 4.58-4.69, "explosive pass rusher, fast, high motor, can wreak havoc with his speed" 12.5TTFL,8 sacks. ranked at the 5th-6th round.
Now this could be a total reach Lawrence Guy, ASU, 6'5" 300lbs. a junior that is ranked #7 in the 2012 class that could come out and maybe slip through the cracks and right into the Jets lap.
at the 7th - FA region are some real gems like Steven Friday from Va.Tech 6'3.5" 250lbs. 4.54-4.66 40 good speed, next, Mana Silva Hawaii SS 6'1" 212lbs. 4.53-4.64 40 if he runs anywhere near a 4.5 40 that would be great 8 INT's this year good for 2nd in the country, he's a transfer from Oregon State only played 2 years at Hawaii and in 2 years has 14 total INT's as well as an excellent tackler. Another guy I love Mario Addison from Troy 6'2" 254lbs 4.54-4.63 40,15.5 TTFL, 11 Sacks and 3 FF, ranked 43rd out of 244 OLB coming out this year, and 506th overall.
As we can see there are some real fixes in the draft for the defense, just as long as Mike T. doesn't trade all the pick's for four players as per usual, If you think this was a long and tedious read try to keep an open-mind before replying please. Thanks & Happy New Year
Lets Face It ..........
This season is just about over! I'm a eternal optimist, but the reality of the situation is that, the offense is offensive in which it isn't changing anytime soon with Schotty at the helm. The management and coaching staff is refusing to address this. This however could be a blessing in disguise as I have said in another post, why could this be a good thing you ask? This could be the end of the love fest between Woody, Mike T., Rex, and Schotty. Woody wants a winner he won't be a happy camper if this season ends the way I see it happening, cause of inaction on their part. That brings me to my next point the way to fix this team in the off-season, and that's if their is a next year, so for what it's worth.
First things first get rid of Schotty and hire McDaniels I know I know, he's still tight with Belicheat, yet this is a business. IF the Jets pony up some major paper for him it could change his mind, and do this as early as possible, to get him working with Sanchez.
The next thing is, since the Jets and I do regret saying this but, they WILL NOT and I repeat WILL NOT make the playoffs this year! This means a higher draft pick and, they won't have their hands won't be tied in the FA market.
Some of the draft picks that I think would be great are as follows:
1)Jared Crick: DE 6'6" 285lbs. 40 projection 4.96. Plays DT right now but, at that size DE would be a great fit.
2)Dontay Moch: SS 6'1" 242lbs. 40 projection 4.38. Plays OLB at Nevada however the speed he posses SS could be the place for him.
3)Mike Pouncey: OG 6'4" 310lbs. brother of Markice, the Jets need to start thinking of a replacement for Brandon Moore and this guy is perfect.
4) Pierce Allen: OLB 6'4" 265lbs. 40 projection 4.78. another Nebraska product but all I know is that the Nebraska D is bad ass they strong against the run as well as pressure the QB a lot.
next on to the roster cuts and FA signings.I'll start on offense.
1) Cut TE Mulligan and sign Zach Miller 6'5" 255lbs. 25 years old can run block and we all know he catches the ball well.
2) This next cut is going to get everybody crazy but LDT then sign Micheal Bush 6'1" 245 26 years old has been stuck behind DMC for his whole 3 years in Oakland. I love LT he has been great this year for the Jets but he is 31.
3) What to do with Woody he's awesome at runblocking but is breaking down as well as slowing down, IMO Give Vlad the nod next year and maybe Woody as a player/coach ?
Next the defense and a lot of people aren't going to like this and I know they have been playing better of late but, the Jets need to get younger and faster in the front 7 and at saftey.
1) The cut's: Ellis, Thomas, Kroul, Pryce, Gholston, Scott, Pace, Taylor, Coleman, Smith, and Ihedigbo alright calm down everyone wait for the FA signings.
2) The FA's 1)Marcus Spears 6'4" 311lbs. can play any spot in a 3-4 or 4-6, 27 years old.
2)Allan Branch 6'6" 338lbs. 25 years old.
3)Haloti Ngata 6'4" 350lbs. 26 years old this is only if he isn't tagged.
These next two are maybe?
1)Paul Soliai 6'4" 344lbs. 26 years old really coming into hisown the past two years.
2) Tank Tyler 6'2" 306lbs. 25 years old was cut by the panthers don't no what is going on with him?
Back to signing some LB's.
1) Manny Lawson 6'5" 240lbs. 26 years old very fast ran a 4.43 coming out of college just what the doctor ordered at OLB.
2) Lamarr Woodley 6'2" 265lbs. 26 years old,a strong athletic OLB need I say more.
3)Derrick Johnson 6'3" 242lbs. 28 years old, can play in or out, a great athlete.
4)Tavares Gooden 6'1" 242lbs. 26 years old, just a solid ILB.
5) Stewart Bradely 6'4" 258lbs. 27years old. is a little injury prone, but can play in and out.
Now some DB's.
1) Drayton Florence he is 29 but this guy can flat out cover make him the nickle and Wilson dime/quarter coverage.
2) Bring back Abraham Elam for SS he has become a solid SS for a tough Cleveland D.
3) Eric Weedle for FS is a little small but can cover like a glove rotate him with Pool and Lowery.
And of course re-sign Harris and, Cro. keep Jenkins, Devito, Pouha, Gilbert, Dixon, Pitoitua, Revis, Lowery, Pool, Leonhard, Wilson, Cole, Brown, and Tevaseu.
I know this might have been a long and tedious read cause my grammar sucks but these things would make life a lot easier at draft time as well as make for some great battles come camp time.
