Yost And The Stathead: A Meeting In The Style Of Raymond Carver's "Little Things"

Early that day the weather turned and the sun was shining over the tarp-covered infield. Streaks of it ran down from the little shoulder-high window that faced the outfield. Cars rushed by on...

Let's Make A Deal Part II: R.A. Dickey

Let's Make A Deal Part 1: James Shields

Moore: "Royals not scouting Clemens"

"It was true, Moore said, that his senior pitching advisor, Bill Fischer, was on hand at Saturday night's game, along with Ron Toenjes, who scouts independent leagues for the Royals. But Fischer was merely there as an old coach and friend of Clemens, and Toenjes was there escorting Fischer." "He wasn't sent there to scout the game. He was sent there to be along with Fish, and that's all," Moore said.

Completely Flummoxed By Escobar's UZR

Odo Watch Day 3: A New Assumption

He isn't starting again today either, although it seemed to be undecided who the starter would be this morning. There may be a good reason why, though. Following the announcement that Odorizzi, along with Wil Myers and Yordano Ventura have been named to the All-Star Futures Game roster, it is possible that they are lining him up to be able to pitch in that game. If this were the case, he will likely start tomorrow or Saturday. It also makes it very, very unlikely that either Odorizzi or Myers will be called up before the All-Star break. So, this will be the end of Odo Watch. For now...

Odo Watch Day 2: New Developments

Yesterday I posted this: It's probably nothing, but I posted yesterday that Jake Odorizzi's turn in the rotation for Omaha was tonight following an off-day yesterday. Instead, 37 year-old journeyman and self-proclaimed Huguenot Doug Davis is making his second start after pitching mostly in relief for Omaha after being signed on May 12th. I don't know that it means anything, but it is curious to note that this is the first time Odorizzi will be off a standard five-day turn in the rotation since joining Omaha, regardless of off days between past starts. Today, it would appear that Odorizzi is again not starting.
