Pedro Martinez to the Angels?
With both Ervin Santana and Kelvim Escobar out for at least May, do the Angels need to sign a free agent pitcher?
Here's my take from SoCal Sports Hub.com:
With Santana and Kelvim Escobar both on the DL to start the season, one things is now clear. The Angelsmust make a move.
With two of their starters sidelined, young and inexperienced right-handers Dustin Moseley and Nick Adenhart will be taking the hill for the Halos. And to be quite frank, I don’t trust either of these guys.
Should they sign Pedro Martinez?
However, I’m quite intrigued by the idea of signing former Boston Red Sox and New York Met Pedro Martinez, who recently threw three shutout innings for the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic on Saturday. The past three seasons in New York have been a struggle for Martinez, as he has battled through numerous injuries. But, when healthy, there is no question, that Pedro is one of baseball’s better pitchers. Just a few years back in 2005, he posted an impressive 15 win season with the Mets, while also recording an impressive 2.82 ERA. I don’t think it would be a stretch to suggest that if healthy, Pedro could certainly revert back to his pristine 2004 or 2005 forms in some capacity.
Am I crazy or does Pedro to the Angels make some sense?
USC's Tourney Hopes?
I was wondering whether USC had much of a chance to earn an NCAA tournament birth this season. They're 6th in the Pac-10 and I heard 6 teams from the Pac-10 had a chance to get in this year. At 18-12 (9-9), they're just two victories shy of the all-important 20 win mark. Are they on the bubble at all? Haven't heard much talk about the Trojans. What's the scoop?
Writing Opportunity
Right now, SoCal Sports Hub is looking for a dedicated Chargers fan, who would love to write about their Bolts. We have already added Eric Gomez of the Bleacher Report to our lineup of great SoCal writers, but we could also use another San Diego writer as well. If you're the leastbit interested feel free to e-mail me at joey@socalsportshub.com. Or just leave a comment below.
On a side note, I actually think that the Chargers can win the Super Bowl this year. Call me crazy but if you have that offense clicking with Rivers, arguably the best QB in the NFL, LT, Gates, and Vincent Jackson, than I don't see how anybody can stop them. Plus, if the defense can just contain people than they should be fine.
Lake the Posts: Northwestern Wildcats
I was just thinking that the blog: Lake the Posts, which covers the Northwestern University Wildcats of the Big Ten conference would make for a good addition to SB Nation. We need an NU blog here and they are the only NU Football blog out there. It's a great blog and covers many NU sports events, although primarily football. It is also well-liked in the Big Ten blogging community. It would be great to have more NCAA so that's why I'm giving this suggestion.
Is LTP a candidate?

Who Is the Worst LA Angel of the Past 5 Years?
Some of my friends and I were talking about the worst Angel player since the 2002 World Series. So, I wanted to know what you guys thought about this.
My vote has to go to Jeff Weaver, although J.C. Romero was close. He only played half of 2006 but Big Weaver was absolutely horrible. His little brother, who was just a rookie at the time, eventually took his spot in the rotation. How pathetic! Jeff got designated for assignment and got picked up by the Cards. He actually played well for them and picked up a World Series ring. So, he had a good second half but his stint with the Halos was horrible.
Now, I ask you. Who has been the worst Halo of the past five years?

Right now, SoCal Sports Hub is looking for a dedicated Clippers fan, who would love to write about their Clips. We already have a great lineup of SoCal writers, but we could really could use a Clippers writer as well. If you're interested e-mail me at joey@socalsportshub.com. Or just leave a comment.
On a side note, has anybody entertained the thought of trading Brand to Chicago for the number one pick and rebuilding around Derrick Rose or Michael Beasley. Just a thought.
Writing Opportunity
Right now, SoCal Sports Hub is looking for a dedicated Dodgers fan, who would love to write about their Doyers. We have already added Shane Norton of Dodgers Junkie to our lineup of great SoCal writers, but we could also use another writer as well. If you're interested e-mail me at joey@socalsportshub.com. On a side note, does anybody else think that this Clayton prospect is a little overrated.
Writing Oppurtunity
Right now, SoCal Sports Hub is looking for a dedicated Angels fan, who would love to write about their Halos. We have already added Will Seitz to our lineup of great SoCal writers, but we could also use another writer as well. If you're interested e-mail me at joey@socalsportshub.com. Or just leave a comment.
On a side note, I am hoping that Jose Arredondo can keep up his good performance because the bullpen could use some work, particularily Speir.
