Dave Discusses a Pineda Extension
Read the article.
I really like the idea of locking up Pineda early. His ceiling is high enough to counter the chance of him getting injured. Don't know how PIneda would feel, though the thought of being teamed with Felix should be enticing to him.
Let's Sponsor Felix's B-R Page
I already made a FanShot, and there was a little support for this. At the suggestion of Faux, I'm now creating a FanPost so that it gets more exposure.

Felix's B-R Page Unsponsored!
I find it hard to believe that no one has ponied up the money to sponsor this page. Felix being one of the top five pitchers in the game today, you'd figure at least that some corporation would serve up the $250 to get the advertising.
Feel free to ridicule me if this isn't the place for it, but would there be any interest from those who frequent LL to put together a "Sponsor Felix's B-R Page" fund? Perhaps through PayPal or something.

Baseball Manager Online Again
This post is to gauge everyone's interest in running another BMO league seperate from whichever leagues are running right now. I'm willing to be commisioner for a new one. I'd like each team to be human run since the computer can be a dick about a lot of things.
Let me know below if you're interested and what team you want to control. And can we try to give those people who aren't currently in a league preference? I know there were quite a few who wanted in on the last one and missed out.

10/19 OFFTOP
I recently returned to Xbox Live after a three year hiatus, and purchased both Halo: Reach and Modern Warfare 2 to go along with the momentous occasion. I'm now in search of a new friends list to accommodate quality games. So, who's willing? Post your gamertag here or send me an email.
Talking points for this off-topic conversation? Besides the requisite discussion of all drinks alcoholic, how about these:
What was your first gaming system?
Favorite game of all time? Favorite genre? Favorite gaming moment?
What is your opinion on the "games as art" discussion?
WIll Carroll's Broad Brush Stroke
I, for one, think we have two of the greats when it comes to weaving stats and stories together.
Jayson Stark Says "Felix for Cy Young"
Jayson Stark breaks down who he believes should get season awards.
Carl Crawford's Defensive Prowess
A recent post over at SBN's Lone Star Ball discusses corner outfield duos across MLB. During the discussion, the question of whether or not Carl Crawford would be able and/or willing to slide over and play CF was raised.
Dealing Tex
I just got offered Billy Butler and Brian McCann for Mark Tex and Russell Martin. I'm interested, but I already have James Loney, who I think compares well with Butler, if not a little better, and I'm pretty big on Tex. I'm thinking of countering McCann and Butler for Tex alone. For those that didn't read my previous post, I'm in a 12-team dynasty league that uses H2H points. Anyone out there have any opinions?
Mauer?
There is a guy in my league that has Posey and Mauer. He's looking to move Mauer, wanting an elite 3B or SS in return. I've got Beltre at 3B and Reyes at SS with Russell Martin filling my C slot. I'm thinking of offering Beltre for Mauer (with the slight chance of asking for Mark Reynolds to fill my hole at third). What do you think? Seems fair for both sides.
Thank Jeebus For Standards
This is why I'm so happy Lookout Landing has standards for grammar and chatspeak. I can hardly understand what this guy is typing.
*Sorry for it not being baseball related. Just wanted to say thanks to Jeff and Matthew for not letting LL get like this.
The Amazing Frabklin
I posted this over at my own website, but my readership is nowhere near what LL sports. I'm posting this here to get everyone's honest opinion of my writing style and my use of statistics. Please feel free to critique and offer pointers on how to improve. Thanks.
I'm calling out to my fellow LL'ers for a little help. This may not warrant a FanPost, so I'm playing it safe and making it a FanShot.
Here's the deal:
My friends fiancee has come to me for help in finding him a quality M's jersey for his birthday. Every jersey I've ever bought has been from the team store, so I know little about finding jerseys on the web. If anyone of you is a web-shopping guru when it comes to finding jerseys, I'd appreciate any help you can give me.
Thanks.
I love Ichiro!
Aardsma Signs
blah blah blah not-Felix blah blah blah $2.75 million blah one-year deal per Baker. Yaaaay!

Dislaimer: Thanks, Graham, for the format on these things.
Ken Rosenthal, "Quick Hit" Expert
Will someone please explain to Ken that you can put more than one sentence in a paragraph. Could you even consider those paragraphs? I get that these are just some quick notes, but this style of writing is absolutely horrible.
Man, Chone Figgins Must Really Suck

"Why don't wins count anymore?"
I don't think I need to go too much into this article when it comes to those that frequent this site. I just thought I'd point out another beat writer to avoid in the future.
OFFTOP - Help Me Pick A Hockey Team!
I know the other OFFTOP is fairly recent, but I need some help here. And, besides, the other is at 1420 comments as I type this, so let's bring on the freshness.
With the end of the baseball season nigh, I've decided to try my hand at hockey fandom. Seeing as how there is a lack of a National Hockey League team in Seattle, or even Washington for that matter, I need to throw my hat in with a team from elsewhere. I'd like to cheer for a franchise that is well-run, but they don't necessarily have to be a winner right now. Try to think of a team that you could compare to the 2009 Mariners; good to great front office, promising young talent, and on the upswing from horrible. Basically, I don't just want to pull for a team just 'cuz they're a winner. And I don't want to end up rooting for the New York Yankees of the NHL, if there is such a team.
King Felix, Ichiro! Make All-Star Team
Glad to see Felix Hernandez is going to this year's All-Star festivities. He certainly deserves it after the year that he's had so far. And Ichiro is showing that you just can't logically guess when he might fall off the map. He is possibly having the best year of his career.
Steve McNair Found Shot to Death
What's the deal with all the famous people biting the dust lately? RIP, Steve.
Does DeRosa change this?
And I just noticed that the tag has DeRosa listed as a LF.

USA vs. Brazil Game Thread
The U.S. just beat Spain, as I'm sure you all know. They're currently up 2-0 on Brazil with just about 10 minutes to go in the first half. Not sure that two goals is a safe enough lead for my taste with so much game left to be played, but damn has this been a good show so far. Is it possible that we beat Brazil just after beating the world #1?

OTFPOTD - Good Book Edition
I just finished, for the second time, a book called Into the Green: A Recon by Fire by Cherokee Paul McDonald. It's a great book about Paul's experiences in Vietnam, and I would strongly suggest it to anyone interested in that particular war. Hell, it's a pretty good look into war in general.
I also just finished Pure Baseball by Keith Hernandez, a book suggested by someone here at this site. Thanks for that, whoever it was (sorry for not remembering who pointed me to it). Good read for anyone interested in seeing a baseball game broken down to the smallest detail.
I'm curious to see what everyone around here reads, as I'm always looking for good books to read. So, let's have it. In what books have you guys and gals invested time? Please feel free to discuss magazines also.
Or maybe you don't read books because books are for fucking nerds, and you wouldn't waste your time with something so non-sportified. Shit, you're the man/woman and reading is below you. If you're that person, then please feel free to save your... I was gonna say breath, but you wouldn't be talking, so I'll say fingers. Save your fingers.
A Discussion About Pitching Strategy
I'm unaware of anyone's coaching experience or ability, but one thing I've noticed about the people who inhabit this place is that they seem to do a lot of reading about baseball. With that said, I'd like to pose a question to you all:
where can I go (as far as websites) or what books would you suggest I read to better understand pitching strategy?
This is just a pursuit of knowledge on my part, as I find myself interested in trying to understand why a pitcher is throwing a certain pitch on a certain count. I have a basic understanding of pitching, things like mixing speeds/location, changing a batter's eye level, set up one pitch with another (batter expecting fastball, pitcher throw's changeup). But I want to dive deeper. Any help would be appreciated.
Let the discussion begin.
Another smile from Ichiro? First the WBC championship celebration, now he's having a good time with Morse while doing drills. What the hell is going on with this guy?!? I thought he was a blight on the clubhouse?
