Corn Nation Corn Flakes: The Day After South Carolina

Not as many links as I would have hoped for, but with so much football (and most of it better football than what Nebraska played) not a lot of coverage of the game. maybe most people didn't see the horror that was the second half? We can only hope. And you watched the game, you know what happened.

Disgusted-cat_medium

We all do....

So lots of unrest from the beat reporters today. How are you feeling the day after? I know that 9 wins seems to be the rallying cry for the diehard supporters, but it's not just the losses, it's the way Nebraska lost. It reminds me of how far Nebraska is from winning a championship, ANY championship. Criticism should not be viewed as an attack on the staff or the program, just sports fans doing what they do.

Report card: Nebraska vs. South Carolina

OVERALL: C- You expect some timing issues and a few mistakes in a bowl game, since it's been five weeks since the last game. But the Huskers were simply atrocious in the second half, with nine penalties and zero points in a game that was there for the taking. Nebraska had four false-start penalties and was going on a silent count. How does that happen? This was an undisciplined performance by a team that should be better at this point in the season. The game plan seemed to be the right one, but Nebraska was its own worst enemy for much of the game

Really a C-? I'm thinking a D.

And some other thoughts on that plan of attack...

Scout.com: CFN Analysis - South Carolina Rolls Big Red

It’s not 1983. And Tom Osborne is no longer the head coach in Lincoln. Nebraska is never going to compete for national championships again unless it can develop more of a threat from the passing game. The Huskers called a solid game in the first quarter, but it gets too easy for opponents to make adjustments when the other guys are so blatantly one-dimensional.

............

- I like what Taylor Martinez brings to the running game, but his passes look like they're coming from a low-level high school quarterback.

- I would welcome Rex Burkhead to my mythical college football team all day long.

So looking ahead, Nebraska needs to develop Martinez as a passer, and develop more weapons other than Martinez and Burkhead for the offense. This becomes especially important for next year with the defense looking to be completely rebuild.

More happy link good times after the jump.

Corn Nation The Day After Iowa

So it's been a few days, but well I've been busy...

20090303214738_funny-pictures-your-cat-likes-laying-around-all-day_medium

So have the cats...

So that was the rivalry game. So yeah what'd you all think?

I'm thinking this is going to go the way of the Colorado/Nebraska "rivalry". Iowa fan wanting it, while Nebraska fan refuses to acknowledge them or the rivalry. See if you agree: Nebraska fan sees themselves as belonging to the Bluebloods of college football. How many National Championships do we have? Who one the Game of the Century? Who has the most sell-outs, ect. and I don't see Nebraska fan wanting to be associated with Iowa, I can't see them thinking of them as an equal, much like how Nebraska fan felt about K-State, and Colorado.

I see Nebraska looking longingly at Michigan for a rival. Now there's a rival, Big Blue, lots of wins, The Big House, and we play in the same division! Course there's the whole tOSU relationship... kinda like how Oklahoma was/is Texas.

But we'll see, maybe I've read Nebraska fan wrong, maybe Iowa starts knocking Nebraska around and the sports hate develops and this starts to evolve like Missouri-Nebraska did. I can say this, I enjoyed beating Iowa, and looking at the fan reactions they didn't like losing to us at all. So it's a start.

Enough of my ramblings. On to the Hero's Links!

Up Next The Bowl Game!

Life in the Red's Blog | The day after: Husker bowl speculation

Looks like the Capitol One Bowl, or the Gator Bowl, both on Jan 2 against an SEC team.

Post Week 13 - 2011 Bowl Projections - Off Tackle Empire

Capital One Bowl- Nebraska vs South Carolina You could see Sparty, Arkansas, or Georgia here, but I'm betting that the CapOne picks two teams who have never been to the bowl before.

Big Ten Friday mailblog - Big Ten Blog - ESPN

there's a strong desire from the Florida bowls to invite Nebraska, which has played only one bowl game in the state (2009 Gator) since facing Tennessee in the 1998 Orange Bowl. Michigan State might slip to Outback or Gator if it loses the Big Ten title game because, as you say, the Spartans have made many bowl trips to Orlando in recent years.

I'm ok with Florida and an SEC team. Of course Nebraska will be too slow, and the SEC team will be the greatest thing ever.

How close with Bo to being on the hottest seat ever? The OWH seems to think pretty darn close.

Corn Nation Corn Flakes: The Day After Michigan

I hate doing these after a loss, but there are things that need to be said.

I watched the first half, then was driving home. My Dad called during my drive, and I thought either Nebraska won the game on a great play, or they were in a full meltdown, he wouldn't call for any other reason. Well if you watch the game you know the reason for the call.

The links outline the long list of problems from the game. Go ahead and chime in with your thoughts.

'Murphy's Law' game leaves NU with lopsided loss - Omaha.com

Four personal fouls. Three fumbles. Three sacks. A 23 percent third-down conversion rate. Two dropped coverages that led to touchdowns. One dropped snap that led to another.

and this isn't even all the issues, coaching, dropped passes, ugh just kill me now.

Husker Mike's Blasphemy: Big Loss in the Big House as Michigan Dominates the Huskers

While that ended any chances Nebraska had to come back, the horrible officiating was not the reason why Nebraska lost this game. Michigan's defense dominated the Huskers today, and it started up front. No room to run whatsoever meant Nebraska needed to throw the ball...and the receivers pretty much sucked all day long. Make a catch, keep a drive alive...maybe something happens for the Huskers. And we can't go into this review without bringing up special teams: two fumbled kickoffs? A blocked punt? These errors turned a 10 point loss into a 28 point trip behind the woodshed. It was the final straw that made this game way too ugly.

Oh yeah the horrible officiating! I've been warned that the officials in the B1G were horrible, and they were against Nebraska on Sat.

More of what you don't want to read after the jump.

Corn Nation Corn Flakes: Race to the BCS

ANN ARBOR, MI - SEPTEMBER 17: Replacing the whale in my nightmares. (Photo by Leon Halip/Getty Images)

Well the Penn State fall out continues, but I'm excited about a possible OU NU Fiesta Bowl match-up.

But of course Nebraska needs to get by Michigan this weekend, not that I'm worried the blackshirts always handle a mobile QB just fine... oh wait...

Well lots to get to:

-- Starting LG Andrew Rodriguez also is doubtful.

-- Reserve offensive guard Brandon Thompson and backup wideout Khiry Cooper are "day-to-day" because of injuries.

-- Pelini expects reserve guard Brent Qvale to return to action this week.

Big Ten Week 12 preview - Big Ten Blog - ESPN

No. 16 Nebraska (8-2, 4-2 Big Ten) at No. 18 Michigan (8-2, 4-2), ESPN: Not much at stake here. Just a virtual elimination game in the Legends Division race. Plus, whoever wins could be in good shape for a BCS at-large bid even if it doesn't claim the division title. Oh, and these are two blue-blood programs who have only played six times and who split the 1997 national title.

We didn't split it, it's ours.

Delayed Kneejerk Reaction, Week 11 - Off Tackle Empire

For Nebraska, it was an important win after their stunning home loss to Northwestern, and it sets up what is essentially a Legends Division elimination game with Michigan next week. They're still a game behind Sparty, but if MSU trips up in the last couple of weeks Nebraska holds the head to head tiebreaker, so it's not over yet.

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? It's not over until we say it is!

HONORS

Weekend rewind: Big Ten - Big Ten Blog - ESPN

Biggest play: Lavonte David's stop of Silas Redd on 4th and 1 from the Penn State 37 with 1:49 left. The Nittany Lions trailed 17-14 and had all the momentum after scoring two touchdowns to get back in it, and they handed the ball to their best player on the game's biggest play. But Nebraska's star defender was better and made a great, everything-he-had tackle. That play was an illustration of why David is the Big Ten's best linebacker.

Corn Nation Corn Flakes: The Day After Penn State

I'm not linking to any more stories about the Penn State scandal. I'm guess that you have already read enough about everything that happened, and nothing new has come up, though a lot of people want to start rehashing it again already. So only game related links today.

The game was an emotional and physical drain on the players. So much so that even the cats were affected.

Tumblr_lk6o81pgpo1qbgegz_medium

And Penn State has just started

What did you think of the Burkhead under center? Or going for it on 4th and 1? What about the ESPN coverage? Does the secondary or dropped passes concern you more? The links have thoughts, what are yours?

WINNER BEST LINK AWARD

Husker Mike's Blasphemy: Huskers Hold off Penn State in the "Game That Probably Shouldn't Have Been"

ESPN's broadcast was a travesty on all accounts. I understand the need to cut GameDay fifteen minutes short; it would have been awkward going from Lee Corso's headgear pick straight to kickoff in State College. But seemingly all day, Penn State and Joe Paterno were portrayed as the victim. Yes, the players had nothing to do with the abuse, but Paterno did. Sticking a camera and reporter outside JoePa's house was out of line. Meanwhile, ESPN's broadcast of the game itself was woefully inadequate. It's one thing for Versus or FSN to put together a crappy broadcast, but the "Worldwide Leader"? Take that "fumble" of the handoff between Burkhead and Legate. ESPN was more concerned with showing fans and Pelini complaining to the refs than trying to figure out why Pelini was so upset. Thank goodness for Twitter, where someone with a DVR created their own instant replay and let us know what really happened on the field.

I'd post the whole thing if I could, this is the best break down from anywhere, and I'm not just saying that cause Mike posts here. Read it and tell me otherwise.

BOWL GAMES

Post Week 11 - 2011 Bowl Projections - Off Tackle Empire

Capitol One Bowl: This looks to be 10-2 Nebraska/Michigan winner versus 10-2 Arkansas. Should Arkansas upset LSU on Black Friday, then this could be the Tigers or Tide, depending on how the BCS standings play out.

What we learned in the Big Ten: Week 11 - Big Ten Blog - ESPN

The losses by Boise State and Stanford on Saturday may have greatly enhanced the Big Ten's chances of getting an at-large BCS bid, and Nebraska's fan base will make it attractive to big bowls. If the Blackshirts defense can keep playing more like they did against Penn State than they did against Northwestern and Rex Burkhead continues leading the offensive charge, Bo Pelini's team could make its first BCS appearance in a decade.

Must beat Michigan. Scared of mobile QB....

Corn Nation Corn Flakes: The Day After Minnesota AND Illinois

Today we celebrate the football and volleyball team's wins yesterday.

We should also acknowledge Wisconsin losing, and as Big Ten fans we should mock them and say mean things to their fans. And a special how do you do to Oklahoma. Now both of you are done in the National Championship race. Sure Michigan State looks to cruise to the Big Ten title game, but I don't think NU was good enough to win the championship anyway.

For the football game I was only concerned that NU couldn't punch it for a touchdown few times. But wow does Minnesota look bad.

And how about the volleyball team? Strong consideration to be the #1 in the nation.

So all in all a good weekend.

Looking to next weekend-

"The Big Ten Conference announced late Saturday night that Nebraska’s matchup next Saturday with Michigan State will kick off at 11 a.m. and will be televised on ESPN. Michigan State comes into the game as the Legends Division leader with a 3-0 record and 6-1 overall record following Saturday’s win over Wisconsin. Nebraska is 2-1 in Big Ten play and 6-1 overall."

Brian Rosenthal: Husker pep band gets short shrift in seating

"We still have to pay for all the tickets, so that's where they bought tickets for us," band member Viktor Sundleaf said. "It was like $70 a ticket. It's expensive to send this many people, with all the considerations, so that's how we ended up there. Cost effectiveness."

This makes me mad. So much money in college football, and the band gets hosed? I still think college football should be about the students that go to the school, but what do I know? But hey at least those poor souls at the NCAA and the BCS games won't go hungry.

The return of Ohio State tailback Daniel Herron and receiver DeVier Posey from their start-of-the-season NCAA suspensions could be delayed by at least one more game barring a change of heart by the NCAA, sources told The Dispatch this morning.

Huskers battered, bruised, and beaten…fans, too | isportsweb

As we headed downtown Friday, it was a rude awakening for Nebraska fans. The scene was less-than-hospitable. Not to mention, they had a few choice words for nearly everyone representing the Cornhusker state.

Definitely a different experience than I did. Wisconsin fans gave me hell sometimes, but I guess I didn't expect anything different. Most of the time I gave it right back. I was not physically attacked, however, and that's one detail in this article that's pretty disappointing. - JJ

Benjamin J. Coleman: Disrespectful fans a shock to visitors

Corn Nation Corn Flakes: The Day After Wisconsin

I'm putting this picture of Russell Wilson here to see if Musburger will pop by to post about how wonderful he is in the comments section. (Photo by John Gress/Getty Images)

Not much that I can say that won't be covered in the links. Lots of problems came up in this game, some old and some new. Badger fans if you pop over to read this, these are concerns for this team going forward, I think everyone knows the better team won, we just wanted to see a better game.

Youth is some of it, especially in the defensive backfield, but coaching problems are starting to show as well. Also how long can you let Martinez make mistakes and be the starter? Does Turner to QB start picking up some steam?

Badgers crush Huskers behind Wilson - Big Ten Blog - ESPN

The good news for Nebraska is the loss doesn't come in the Legends Division. Nebraska's home schedule still is favorable for the Huskers to get to Indianapolis, but they have to eliminate mistakes on offense and get their swagger back on defense. I wouldn't want to be in the defensive meeting room with the Pelini Bros. this week. Fortunately, Nebraska has a reeling Ohio State team coming to Lincoln (never thought I'd write that sentence).

Report card: Nebraska vs. Wisconsin

OVERALL (F) At one point in the fourth quarter, the scoreboard reset to 0-0. If only. Later, the students began chanting "Big Ten football!" Yes, Nebraska showed up to its first Big Ten game and looked like it didn't belong. Oh, sure, the Huskers moved the ball early, but then started making mistakes left and right, while Wilson-led Wisconsin was clean, crisp and efficient. You know, how Nebraska used to be, back in the day. Simply put, this was another dud on the big stage by a vastly overrated team.

Well those 2 pretty much sums it up. You can look at all the point by point anaylsis after the jump if you want to relive the horror.

Corn Nation Corn Flakes: The Day After Wyoming

Well is anyone feeling good about Nebraska's chances heading to Madison?

Lot's of people questioning what caliber team Nebraska has. Are we deserving the top 10 ranking? I'm going to go on record saying that Nebraska has almost no shot against the Badgers. The only knock on Wisconsin is they haven't played much of any competition, not that Nebraska has played a murders row of teams, and Wisconsin has been putting lesser teams away while Nebraska allows them to hang around.

But Nebraska is 4-0 the offense looks improved, and maybe the Pelini bros have something defensively up their sleeve? Nebraska may have a speed advantage over Wisconsin as well.

Corn Nation Corn Flakes: The Day After Washington

Nebraska's offense comes alive, the defense has some more questions to answer, and Washington fans cry about bad calls.

Whinycatwhin128468679121250000_medium

The Cats Impersonate Washington fans.

Yes there were some bad calls, but I don't think anyone can say the better team didn't win. Every fan base focuses on the blown calls, and what could should have been. Penn State and the out of bounds catch, Kansas State and the face mask, we know them well. Washington can enjoy what could have been, Nebraska has to worry about a road trip in 2 weeks.

Overall I'm pretty satisfied with the win, I continue to believe that the defense will improve, and with what we saw from the offense NU's fortunes look better than they did last week.

Anyway the best choicest links hand picked and linked for you.

Husker Mike's Blasphemy: For One Quarter Against Washington, the Huskers Look Like Contenders

Nebraska is 3-0 and the offense is starting to become consistent. I have faith that Bo Pelini will figure out what ails the defense; they may not be a top ten defense this season, but they'll be better down the stretch. And judging from what I see in the Big Ten conference this season, that might be enough to put Nebraska in position to win the west division this season. And if we see more of what we saw in the third quarter when the Huskers were clicking on both sides of the ball, even more than that. Much more than that.

Corn Nation Corn Flakes: The Day After Fresno State

Lots of Big Red Angst around the interwebz today. Concerns about both lines now, toughness, the boom or bust offense, coaching, but also some hope with the play of some of the youngsters on the offense.

Worried_cat_medium

The cats are concerned...

Jon summed up things pretty well in his over-reaction thread. I'll add this, Nebraska won against Fresno State's best game. Is there anything more Fresno State could have asked for? No turn-overs, few penalties, Carr made excellent decisions, a special teams TD, and NU still won. Nebraska almost looked like they showed up to play, and still won.

Let's break it down.

GAME RECAPS

Nebraska pulls away as defense struggles - Big Ten Blog - ESPN

The Huskers showed good resiliency in pulling this one out, and it was good to see their offense rev up when needed. But you wonder what's going on with that defense. Nebraska players spoke confidently this summer about being able to defend Big Ten offenses. But we didn't see that Saturday night.

Corn Nation Corn Flakes: The Day After Chattanooga

Happy day after game game people. Much like KGB in Rounders I feel so unsatisfied. Turns out uneven wins against cupcakes are not that filling. But maybe I'm being over critical, I am getting old after all.

Lots of concern out there about the O-Line, and the Martinez-centric offense. I'd add concern at linebacker, at least until I see how the Pelinis will handle a power rushing game. We didn't see the zone read once yesterday, and I can't believe they would remove that from the playbook.

Overall watching the game on BTN and not on PPV, in glorious HD was wonderful. Coming back late from commercials or filler stat pieces to miss several plays was not. Much like the game the broadcast was uneven.

Let's see what people are saying about Nebraska.

Chattanooga Mocs vs. Nebraska Cornhuskers - Recap - September 03, 2011 - ESPN

Martinez, who matched his career high with 19 carries, showed no signs of the toe and ankle injuries that slowed him the second half of last season. His touchdown runs were his first in nine games, since he had a career-high four against Kansas State. It was the fourth time in his 14 career games that he had at least three TD runs.

Notebook: Brett Maher looks good filling Alex Henery's shoes

Report card: Nebraska vs. Tennessee-Chattanooga

Overall (B) The feast-or-famine offense was probably to be expected for a season opener, but it certainly won't cut it in the Big Ten. Luckily for Nebraska, that's another month away. Meanwhile, a defense that counted on many newcomers Saturday showed it can be every bit as good as last year's unit, if not better. The biggest relief of the day? Maher. (Oh, and a nice cold front).

Corn Nation Corn Flakes- Wants an offense that scores points.

Well it's games week, a holiday on Mon, and I have a satellite man hooking me up to some Big 10 network as I type this.

Funny-pictures-dancing-cat_medium

I'm happy too.

So no news is good news at this point. We won't know anything about the offense, probably even after this game, we won't know how the O-Line is going to play (unless they struggle, then wow NU's in trouble), but it's game week! Get your game plans together, buy a bright new red shirt, and get ready to hear Hail Varsity again.

Notes: More passes, audibles in NU offense - Omaha.com

Martinez claims that he'll have more freedom to audible, too. That's a luxury he didn't enjoy last season in Shawn Watson's structure-heavy West Coast offense. Martinez said Watson and Co. weren't getting plays in very quickly, which left little time for him to read the defense once he approached the line.

Move the chains, score points, and have less penalties, then I'll be happy... at least for a while. Though I think everyone noticed that the plays often came in late last year. It reminds me of when you try and play Madden on a game system you aren't used to, so wait what button to I push? Where's that pass play I like? Why I'm I lining up for a fake punt? Damn delay of game.

NEBRASKA FOOTBALL

The Big Ten's 2011 Top 10 Games to Watch | AthlonSports.com

Nebraska has a rough enough schedule through September and October, but won’t get any breaks in the final three weeks of the regular season either. In back-to-back weekends, the Huskers have to play in front hostile 110,000-seat crowds in Happy Valley and Ann Arbor. It was 2002 the last time Big Red headed to Penn State and 1962 the last time it played at the Big House. On paper, Penn State doesn’t look to have the offensive power to hang with Nebraska while the Wolverines don’t have anyone to slow Taylor Martinez and Rex Burkhead. However, by the end of the season both PSU and UM should be much improved from 2010 and will be hosting a title contender. Anything can happen. If the rules pass, each Division I conference would have the option to award bigger, longer scholarships to athletes. Hero Complex: Big Ten Adds Pretentious, Douchey Vibe To Iowa-Nebraska Rivalry - Black Heart Gold Pants

To be fair, there are some elements of "The Heroes Game" that are not objectionable -- that are even praiseworthy. Recognizing the good deeds of individual Iowans and Nebraskans is nice; leaving aside the maxim that good deeds are worth doing with or without recognition, there's nothing exactly wrong with celebrating good deeds. And raising money for the Nebraska and Iowa chapters of the Red Cross is very commendable; the Nebraska-Iowa games are going to generate a lot of interest and excitement (and, oh yeah, money), so putting some of that to genuinely good use is a fine idea.

Corn Nation Corn Flakes: More Media Madness!

Another huge round up of clippings to make your Friday go by a little bit faster.

A SUMMARY OF BIG TEN MEDIA DAYS

As fun and as accurate a summary as you'll find anywhere - JJ

Confident Nebraska team makes unofficial debut in Big Ten - NCAA Football - CBSSports.com

Eight of the other Big Ten coaches managed to give Nebraska some love -- whether they actually meant it or not. Only Illinois' Ron Zook, Northwestern's Pat Fitzgerald and Ohio State's Luke Fickell did not utter the word "Nebraska" during each coach's opening press conference. Nebraska was mentioned 14 times by the remaining eight coaches. Coaches usually prefer not to acknowledge opponents, especially conference rivals, but there was no shorten of admiration for the Cornhuskers.

Around the Big Ten Media Days water cooler

Paterno was asked about the problems in college football, and he told a story about how players have always gotten in trouble. "The old days when I first started to coach, I lived four blocks off the campus," Paterno said. "We don't have a big house. We've been there for a long time, my wife and the kids. Well, the kids are all gone obviously. I used to get a telephone call from one of the campus cops would say, ‘Hey, coach, you better come up here and get a hold of Mike. Too much to drink, making a lot of noise.' "I'd go up at 2 in the morning, grab Mike, put him in bed, get him up at 5 in the morning, run his rear-end off for a week. You guys never heard about it."

Corn Nation Corn Flakes: Media Days!

http://www.theindependent.com/articles/2011/07/27/sports/huskers_hq/hamar/doc4e30e96a3704f375055346.txt

— 1st, Nebraska: You’ll read plenty about the Huskers in the upcoming month before their opener Sept. 3 against Chattanooga. The defense should be outstanding. The offense, well, we’ll see. Nobody knows yet just what new offensive coordinator Tim Beck will do, but you can bet we’ll see some things we didn’t see in 2010.

We at least some people are willing to do predictions. Wisky, Michigan State, and Nebraska seem to be the favorites in most people's polls.

Key stretch: Nebraska - Big Ten Blog - ESPN

October certainly provides a stern test for the Huskers, who have several chances to prove themselves in their new league. The good news is Nebraska faces both Ohio State and Michigan State in Lincoln, while Wisconsin won't be too battle tested when the Huskers visit Camp Randall Stadium. Nebraska should handle Minnesota after the open week. I'm looking at 3-1 or 2-2 for the Huskers during the stretch, leaning toward 3-1, which should put them in good shape for a trip to Indy.

Next level in sight, Nebraska’s offense goes back to the drawing board - Dr. Saturday - NCAAF Blog - Yahoo! Sports

This is not a "reinvent the wheel" situation: The transition is a lot less about overhauling the scheme than it is about making Martinez a more well-rounded quarterback who can a) Open up the bread-and-butter stuff on the ground by forcing defenses to respect him as a passer, and b) Stay healthy for an entire season.

Do we have a wheel? Should we invent one? I'm thinking we have a wheel, a tire, a pogo-stick, and a sled, you know "multiple". Also anyone worried about the "simplification" of the offense? Seems the team has does simplification of the offense the past few years. How much more simple can we get? Will Martinez just draw plays in the huddle?

What happened to Zac Lee?, Does Iowa already hate us? What are the must see games for the Big 10? Answers after the jump.

Corn Nation Corn Flakes: Happy Easter!

Peeps are gross. No one can tell me otherwise.

Not a lot going on now that the Spring Game is over but some links still caught my eye.

SPRING GAME

Life in the Red's Blog | Bo: Martinez leads QB race

Can he handle being the starting QB? I'm starting to wonder what we'll see out of Martinez next year. I know what he did against Washington and KSU, but how he ended the year, well you know. So what do you think happens?

NEBRASKA FOOTBALL: Still Under Wraps - NE StatePaper.com

Pelini seems to use the Spring Game as a reward, to some extent, for a hard, tough camp. Drafting teams, jumbling up rosters, it's fun. It creates a sense of competition and camaraderie. His players – especially some of the older guys – love it. Cassidy's gamesmanship in the fourth quarter is a memorable little footnote.

Yep the spring game really does tell us very little. Enjoy it for what it's worth a practice.

Corn Nation Corn Flakes: The Day After the Spring Game

Happy day after the spring game everyone!

What_did_the_five_fingers_say_to_the_face_infinite_picdump_9-s312x235-108906-580_medium

How to handle people that tell you "Nebraska won" yesterday.

Lets get this post started!

Find yourself at the Husker spring game - Omaha.com

The Omaha World-Herald used Gigapan technology to create a 261 megapixel image (that's .26 gigapixels for you photo buffs) of the action and attendees at Saturday's Husker spring game on April 16, 2011. The large panoramic image was created by stitching together 30 high-resolution photos taken over a period of 2½ minutes.

I couldn't find myself, though I'm not sure it zooms to California.

Husker Mike's Blasphemy: The Kids Are Alright

One of the biggest cheers of the day came when HuskerVision pointed out that the "B1G" is just 75 days away. I'm still not sure fans have really come to complete grips about this. Sure, we're happy to yell "Forget You" to Texas and Dan Beebe, but I don't know that we really understand what we're getting ourselves into. I know I'm optimistic that the Huskers can do quite well, but that's just speculation at this point. In the meantime, there's a crash-course to learn about 11 new opponents first.

Shatel: Questions abound, but Blackshirts, Turner look good - Omaha.com

So yeah evidently 1 scrimmage didn't answer all our questions. Ground breaking stuff here. At least he gets in his thoughts on Turner, Carnes, and the Defense.

Well that's enough for the front page, but don't worry the links after the jump aren't JV links or anything like that.

Corn Nation Corn Flakes: The Return of the Cat

Well hello there. It's been awhile. Last we talked I led many to believe that I was going to have reactions after the Holiday Bowl. That didn't happen, the cats and I went on a bender instead.

Hangover_cat_medium

So totally worth it...

We wanted to stop, but then the whole coaching search went on, with the lies, or at least half truths, and the general crappy treatment of the media by the head coach, I didn't want to deal with it, then there was the entire tease that is the Nebraska Basketball season, and now the continued failure of the baseball team.

But hope springs eternal. Spring Football is in the air. Could it be that Martinez has matured? Will NU have an offense? It's too much to stay away, plus I know you all missed the cats.

So I am again happy to bring you the choice cuts of links to you the fine followers of the Corn. Stories after the jump.

Corn Nation Corn Flakes: The Sky is Falling!

Well rather than Holiday Bowl game talk we get talk of coaches leaving...

Funny-pictures-cat-thinks-the-sky-is-falling1_medium

The Cats are as worried as anybody

My advice is to stop endlessly hitting F5 on your computer with every message board open (and Corn nation of course) looking for news. It's out of our hands, just try and enjoy the ride.

For what it's worth (FWIW) I've hear that there will be major staff shake-ups. Some of the things have been posted here already, but here's the biggest one yet...

Tony G - Husker Head coach interviewing at Miami - Sports Betting

Breaking News: Mark Mangino, ex Kansas Coach was seen in Lincoln Airport (hard to miss), and got in a University car and headed to campus.

No word if he is having his cable hooked up yet...

Amukamara Named to Walter Camp All-America Team - Huskers.com - Nebraska Athletics Official Web Site

Nebraska senior cornerback Prince Amukamara has been named to the 2010 Walter Camp All-America team, the organization announced on Thursday evening

Awesome, but I still have a hard time understanding how a team with as much talent as Nebraska did this year didn't win the Big 12.

Steven M. Sipple: Offense testing Bo's patience with Watson?

It's a sign that at Nebraska, championships are the standard, as should be the case. In just his third season as head coach, Pelini has pushed NU back into championship contention, a long way from the misery of 2007. Nebraska this season has an excellent chance to finish 11-3. I'll never feel comfortable with coaches being fired from 11-3 squads, unless there are significant off-field issues.

Oh right....
My guess is that Watson heads out, as part of a mutual break up. Then you already know that Mangino is coming in.

NE StatePaper.com - NEBRASKA FOOTBALL: Husker Monday Review - Big 12 Championship

But that's not all that occurred. Somewhere between that Holiday Bowl game and Nebraska's season-opener vs. Western Kentucky, Bo drastically altered his vision of a winning offense. He chose to veer away from the Huskers' still-developing passing game and direct offensive coordinator Shawn Watson buy full shares in the zone read option, with a speedy wunderkind at the controls in Taylor Martinez. It is, thus far, the defining decision of Bo's career at NU. He handed the keys of a senior-laden team to a young, mercurial, close-mouthed Cali kid who frankly shunned the typical media and team-building responsibilities that most quarterbacks gladly – or at least obligingly - embrace. You saw it play out.

Yep more on Watson (I want to see if Jon will become enraged enough to ban me and/or the cats...) Watson rules Jon! You hear me?

NET to televise Nebraska-Washington match

The Nebraska-Washington match in the NCAA Seattle Regional will be televised on NET, officials confirmed Thursday. Coverage of the match will begin Friday at 9 p.m., or 30 minutes after the conclusion of the Minnesota-California match in the first semifinal.

More volleyball news as it develops. And pictures we need pictures...

Bowl news after the jump, if you care. Which I doubt. Oh and do you the loyal and intelligent readers what basketball links? I haven't been putting them in cause, well I don't care that much about it right now. Let me know.
