Wilkerson Released?

So says Geoff Baker.

http://blog.seattletimes.nwsource.com/mariners/2008/04/wilkerson_released.html

"Got a few tips about this today and Brad Wilkerson's locker stall here at the ballpark is now empty. Expect to see Wlad Balentien and Jeff Clement any second now. Team has yet to announce anything. I'll pass along word as soon as I hear something."

Your FanPost must be at least 75 words long. Right now it's only 62 words long.

Update on Bedard

From Baker:

What McLaren confirmed was that Bedard had an MRI and that there was inflammation found. McLaren wouldn't say what was causing the inflammation. Said he doesn't know. I asked him again if it was caused by a labrum problem and he said he didn't know.

If the Mariners feel THT is out to lunch, all they have to do is say there is no labrum issue. By not simply denying it flat-out, they are keeping this thing going longer than it has to.

New message board to start up since SportSpot died

Some of you may know of SportSpot. It was a message board that Mark, aka MarinerGeek started four years ago. It's been up and down. There still was a hard core community of folks that posted there until MGeek took the board down last week.

The 'Spot will be missed but some of the posters put up a few bucks and started a new board. It just opened it's doors tonight.

The link is http://marinercentral.com or just click here Mariner Central

There's not much on there yet because it just opened tonight. We hope some of the old timers will see this and drop by and register.

For those who are concerned, I emailed Jeff to see if posting this is ok by him. I didn't want to spam. He said, "Go for it."

McPhail Denies Trade

Quote from the Baltimore Sun:
MacPhail denies reported Bedard trade
'We do not have an agreement with the Mariners,' he says.

Build a team from the Mariners 25 man roster.

In his blog today, Geoff Baker says,

"If I had to build a team right now, one I wanted to make a playoff run with, it would start with Ichiro, Adrian Beltre, Jose Guillen and Betancourt."

I'm sure he means if he had to build a playoff team based on the Mariners current roster.

How about you? Which players on the current Mariner squad would you keep if you were building a team for a playoff run?

I'd keep the four Geoff cites. I'd also keep Putz, Sherrill, O'Flaherty in the bullpen, Hernandez, Morrow and Rowland-Smith for the rotation, and add Adam Jones and Kenji Johjima.

That's half a team.

That team has three starting pitchers, all real young, only three relief pitchers, and is missing second and first basemen and a bench. Good outfield, though. Good left side defense.

Can't say I'm really attached to any of the rest of the 25 man roster.
