Hi- my name is Jason Guerette, but you can call me 'JP' if ya' want.

I am a recent graduate of Seton Hall, and have followed the Pirates religiously for about five years. I also love the game of basketball, and am an aspiring sports broadcaster, so I tend to take a total approach to analyzing Pirate hoops.

I seek to bring perspective and game analysis to "The Juice" from not just a fan standpoint or a broadcaster standpoint, but from the standpoint of an avid fan and supporter of the greatest game ever invented- Basketball.

You can follow me on Twitter (@JPGuerette) as well for more discussion on whatever sports story is on my mind. It's listed as my website below.

Seton Hall Basketball: JP's Game Preview- UConn Huskies

The rematch is here. And it matters more than nearly everyone will admit. Seton Hall is reeling from five straight losses, all but the last one to teams they probably should have beaten....

Seton Hall Basketball: JP's 5 Thoughts- MU 66, SHU 59

I don't know what to say, guys. Seton Hall played relatively well for the first time in a while, and had their best half of basketball since the DePaul game. But they didn't get the win, what would...

UPDATE (5:20 PM): Marquette big man Davante Gardner will NOT suit up tonight due to a left knee sprain. And so it comes to this. This game represents the only "sure thing" in terms of opportunities...

Seton Hall Basketball: JP's 5 Thoughts- UofL 60, SHU 51

It's official. The Pirates' losing streak has gone from bad to painful-to-watch. The second half run was encouraging to see, but only a little. The game was decided in the first 10 minutes, when...

Seton Hall Basketball: JP's Game Preview- Louisville Cardinals

You like family affairs? Well then what better way to follow up the Notre Dame debacle than with a visit from Kevin Willard's longtime mentor in a game that's absolutely huge for both teams? Here's...

Seton Hall Basketball: JP's 5 Thoughts- ND 55, SHU 42

Because I was down in Tampa, Florida during the majority of this game, I could not watch it live. All I saw was about 8 minutes of the second half. All I knew about was the box score. I figured...

Seton Hall Basketball: JP's Game Preview- Notre Dame Fighting Irish

This week is huge for the Pirates. I'm not saying it will necessarily make or break their season, but often in Big East play, one loss can easily turn into two, which turns into four, etc... I said...

Seton Hall Basketball: JP's 5 Thoughts- VU 84, SHU 76

I honestly cannot believe my eyes. This team started 15-2?! You wouldn't know it after tonight's extremely poor performance on the Main Line. It's their worst loss of the year, and the worst...

Seton Hall Basketball: JP's SUPER SIZED Game Preview- Villanova Wildcats

Hello Pirates! It's time for yet another game preview. Except this isn't any ordinary preview. This one is SUPER-SIZED, with a 5-question Q&A with Philahoops.com writer Aaron Bracy. You can find...

Seton Hall Basketball: JP's 5 Thoughts- USF 56, SHU 55

I know, it's late, and I hate to make you relive the Pirates' third loss of the year, and the second half drought that occurred to seal Seton Hall's fate. But I have to do it. Lack of ESPN3 access...

Seton Hall Basketball: JP's Game Preview- USF Bulls

The Pirates took care of business against DePaul on Tuesday night, and save for an 8-minute scoring drought in the second half, they did it handily. In their path now are the Bulls of South...

Seton Hall Basketball: JP's 3 Thoughts- SHU 93, DePaul 72

In the Pirates' first game as a ranked team in 11 years, Seton Hall easily dispatched DePaul using a combination of surprise and tempo control, with three career performances mixed in. The Thoughts...

UPDATE (12:43 PM): This game will not be on TV. It will be on ESPN3 exclusively, so if you aren't able to get the video, feel free to tune in to WSOU as yours truly will be calling all the action....

Seton Hall Basketball: Pirates Receive #24 ranking in the AP Poll

WE'RE BACK!!!!! According to sources, Seton Hall is ranked 24th in the country by the Associated Press, the first time the Pirates have been ranked since January 29th, 2001. This is cause for...

Seton Hall Basketball: JP's 5 Thoughts- SHU 66, PC 57

Providence College's school colors are basic black, white and grey. No frills, no style points. The same can be said of the win for the Pirates on Saturday. It wasn't pretty in the least, but it...

Seton Hall Basketball: JP's Game Preview- Providence Friars

Last time the Pirates hit the road in conference play, it wasn't a nice thing to see, as they got stomped by Syracuse. This time around on Saturday, the opponent isn't quite as lauded (or as...

Well, well, well- ain't THIS something?! According to several sources around the Twitterverse, including his prep coach and the little man himself (@CantGuard3), 2013 point guard Aquille Carr...

Seton Hall Basketball: JP's 5 Thoughts- SHU 75, UConn 63

That was fun. It was cathartic, it was impressive, and it was SO DAMN FUN! Shaking off some opening rust, the Pirates responded in a gigantic way, thoroughly dismantling the defending national...

Seton Hall Basketball: JP's Game Preview- Connecticut Huskies

Here it is, folks. The Big One. By now you're all aware of the numbers, and how ugly they are: 2-25 in the last 27 meetings. 11 straight losses spanning nearly 11 years and two presidential...

Seton Hall Basketball: JP's 5 Thoughts- SHU 67, WVU 48

Wasn't that awesome? The Pirates came out firing on all cylinders Friday night and while it took a little while for their intensity to translate on the scoreboard, Seton Hall established themselves...

Seton Hall Basketball:JP's 5 Thoughts- Syracuse 75, SHU 49

The bad news? The Pirates suffered a 26-point defeat at the Carrier Dome in frigid Syracuse, by far their worst performance of the season. The good news? No one really expected the Pirates to win...

Following two games in which he averaged 20 PTS and 7 AST per contest, Jordan Theodore was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the first time this season. Also, for the first time this season, Herb Pope did not receive a nod to the Weekly Honor Roll. The Pirates return to action Wednesday against #1 Syracuse at the Carrier Dome at 7 PM.

Seton Hall Basketball: JP's 5 Thoughts- SHU 87, Longwood 61

It didn't start pretty, but the Pirates are where pretty much no one thought they would be heading into Big East play. 11-1. Their best start since the 92-93 season, when they were a 2-seed in the...

Seton Hall Basketball: JP's Game Preview- Longwood Lancers

Next up on the Pirates' three-game road trip is Longwood, one of three D-1 Independent basketball teams. And therefore, the Lancers are pretty much unknown to most fans. College Basketball...
