Its Been A Good Season

I write this bc it has been a good season and the team exceeded my expectations. I am leaving for san diego this month to enter basic training for the marine corps and wont graduate until the end of February ( i will therefore miss all the championships and bowls). Its a hard loss but just another testament at where this team has come from celebrating a winning season and maybe a big twelve swc championship to  competing for the national championship and 11 win seasons. I wish the best for this team and hope for a big 12 championship when i come back from graduation. In the end its still a game and we have to remember that a lot  of these kids are just 19-20 year old kids. Well thats all i have to say and good luck bon i will still post of course until i leave but this is a big change in the season. Later yall

Cody Johnson #31

Just got back from the game and I know that many on here as well as I are somewhat worried about our run game and its implementation.  Seeing the horns for the first time in person, one thing that stuck out in my mind was the running of Cody Johnson. Granted it was rice and they were down the whole game, but his quickness and cutting ability for his size really impressed me. Also, his ability to run the zone stretch and see the whole as well as the cutback lane shows that there might be more to him than we thought. I dont know if he'd be the full time starter but i do believe that him and Fozzy would be a great combo of speed and size/speed. Let me know what yall think and saw.

LETS FACE IT

This longhorn team isn't a championship caliber team this year. To be a true championship team you must be strong in all areas of play. The simple truth is we aren't and it is only a matter of time before we are really exploited by a superior team and coaching staff. The one positive about this team (and I am being 100% truthful) is that by watching them play I am brought back down to reality . Before, I devoted so much emotion and time to Texas Football for some unknown reason( recently, I think bc of Vince) but through this season I have come to realize that I shouldn't become so involved in something  as trivial as a kids game. Sure, I still love the longhorns, from birth to the grave, but in knowing that they will lose this year has allowed me to prioritize longhorn football in my life. I don't want to be too philosophical or cynical, but just the opposite that there is a sense of relief knowing we really aren't competing for a national championship and I can be happy with any amount of success.

P.S and if we do win the NC it will be all the much better....

BRIAN ORAKPO

I am wondering if anyone has any info on his condition and status going into this week. We haven't heard much from the coaches or trainers on how he is doing, and I am starting to think that he is probably going to sit out the next two games before the RRS. This would probably be a smart move even if he was cleared to play this week or next as we don't necessarily need him for the next two, but we'll surely need him to stop OU. Any  Info, Thanks JRBTX

MACK BE A MAN FOR ONCE

Is it just me, or is anyone else tired of Mack Browns political statements after every game. Damn, by listening to him last night (and every other game) you would think that the UT coach was elected and not hired. I would have loved for him to come out and say, "we played like crap and we coached like crap, and we sure as hell better improve or we are going to get our asses handed to us by TCU ,OK,Nebraska....and A&M". I hate to say it but I have to wonder what the response of Bob Stoops would have been if his team would have played like that against ASU. I always have loved his intensity even though I hate OU and think mack just too many times wanst to be the players friendly grandpa and not enforcer. Reflecting on UT football as a whole (while at the game, bc god knows there was al ot of time for that) I solidified my feelings that We won a national championship not because of coaching but bc of an awesome freak of nature at quarterback and two sick lines. MACK GROW A PAIR AND CALL A SPADE A SPADE.

Take a break from sports and consider something

Next year there will be a presidential election and as a U.S. citizen it is your "DUTY" to vote for the candidate that will best represent our country. I am putting forth a candidate that many on here have probably already voted for, his name is Ron Paul Peter Bean. Yes, the same Ron Paul Peter Bean that represented our Longhorn rooting interests. He is a voice of reason and honesty that seems to have been lost in politics sports. Well enough of my opinion, check him out and make your own www.ronpaul2008burntorangenation.com , thankyou

JRBTX - sorry to hijack your diary. I didn't want to delete it this time, but I'll make this diary serve as the official note that BON is more or less a politics-free zone. There are lots and lots of great spots on the web for discussing the political and legislative issues people are passionate about; we feel strongly this shouldn't be one of them.  Political discussions will be deleted almost every time - even solid, non-pushy diaries like this one. It's not at all personal. Just an editorial decision to separate politics from Longhorn sports.
