DRaysBay 6 Man Rotation?

Ok so I know it sounds crazy but John Romano's column breifly mentioned the idea, before blowing it off, when discussing the David Price situation. So it got me to thinking what if they did go with a six man rotation? My first thought is that it kind of kills two birds with one stone. We have enought talent that we could easily put out 6 pitchers worthy of being major league starters. Additionally all of them are young so limiting thier innings would hopefully perserve them for down the road.

Now I have not done any calculations on how many less starts this equals per pitcher but I would imagine that it would roughly be somehwere between 5 to 7? If that is an average of six innings a start we are talking about 30 to 42 fewer innings during the year. I know one argument against would be time inbetween starts, but really is one day the difference between rust and fresh?

Long story short I don't think there is a chance this is going to happen but was just curious to see what everyone thought.

DRaysBay Holliday for Crawford?

Matt Holliday, barring a dramatic reversal, will be traded this winter. General manager Dan O’Dowd made it clear Tuesday that he’s not afraid to play kids or unproven players when I asked him about starting Ian Stewart, Seth Smith and Ryan Spilborghs in the same lineup. Holliday should fetch a big return, but there’s no perfect deal out there. The Rockies want pitching which is why they have spoken with the Rays, who could part with Edwin Jackson or Andy Sonnanstine. Carl Crawford’s name has also surfaced as someone the Rays might be willing to give up for Holliday.

DRaysBay Deadspin.com Shout out

even though they go on to say they think the Sux's will win in five they have an interesting preview on thier site right now. It even gives reference to old R.J. and a preview he did for them last year. My favorite part: "man, Rays diehards like Anderson really have earned this, haven't they?"

Either way nice picture at the end for evreyone as well.

Go Rays!!!! Be there on Saturday.

And to take up space was at the game last night and was wondering what was said about the fly ball that BJ seemed to misplace and was hit off the wall.

DRaysBay Phils get Blanton

The Phillies have reached an agreement with the Oakland Athletics to acquire right-handed pitcher Joe Blanton.

Blanton is 5-12 this year, after going 14-10 with a 3.95 ERA last season.

The Athletics get second baseman Adrian Cardenas, pitcher Josh Outman and outfielder Matthew Spencer, all minor leaguers.

The Phillies have been looking for a starting pitcher, in an effort to plug holes at the back end of their rotation.

A's general manager Billy Beane swapped Blanton a week after sending Rich Harden to the Chicago Cubs -- and that's with his team very much in contention in the AL West, six games behind the first-place Los Angeles Angels.
