He REALLY doesn't like the idea.

I don't know how this hasn't made the front page of LSB yet.
The Beast and the Snake
Am I missing something or didn't the Rangers start the "snake" because the Diamondbacks stole the claw and antlers?
Sure it's a little silly, but isn't it even sillier if you have to steal someone else's shtick?
Ring Vouchers
Last night, by the time I got to the park, they didn't have any more rings... so we got vouchers. This is not a problem for me as I plan to go to 20-25 games this year. The problem is I have about 10 people asking me to get them rings and I only have the 2 vouchers I got plus one I got off of a Mariners' fan.
I know this is the wrong place to look for them, but if anyone has a few vouchers that you don't plan to redeem, would you be willing to give to a fellow LSBer?
If so, respond here and we can make arrangements.
Thanks

Sheehan's Position by Position Breakdown
Have you seen this? Cruz and Cody Ross even? Ishikawa over Vladdy?
Wow.
Is it the Red Caps?
First of all, I am sorry for not making this a fanshot... there is really not an image, or link so here it is.
While I was brushing my teeth this morning, trying to decide which Rangers shirt to wear to work this morning something occurred to me. It's those damn red caps. Stick with me here...
I have been an advocate for red uniforms for quite some time now. They won in the 90s with them and didn't start winning again until the red came back. I think they are great FOR THE REGULAR SEASON.
However, if you take a look at records... you will notice that the Rangers are 1-12 when wearing Red Caps (0-7 home, 1-5 road) but they are 6-1 when wearing Blue Caps (1-0 home, 5-1 road). So I think we should all get behind the blue caps!
I don't know what they are wearing tonight but Colby likes the home whites... which would mean blue cap.
Just thought I would throw this out there in case Chuck is lurking. He said that a definite decision would be made for the 2012 season and I thought I would make a case for blue caps.
It's a mystery, though, why so many normal fans, the kind who mainly love their team but not baseball in the abstract, manage at this time of year to watch the game as it should be watched: With the sinking feeling that everything is about to go wrong for a team they care about.
I found the bolded part to be so true.

Fangraphs: Why Seattle Chose Smoak over Montero
Main point... Smoak is going to be controllable during his peak (i.e. 27-28) years... Montero will likely be a FA by then.
Maury's new article is up.
He won't come out and say that the Rangers won... but it is looking pretty good from what I can tell.

Highlights from the Mid-Winter Banquet
I don't know if anyone got a chance to go to the Texas Rangers Mid-Winter Banquet last night, but it was a pretty well put together event.
Before I go into my observations from the evening, I wanted to mention a conversation I had with Chuck Morgan while waiting for the valets to bring our cars around last night.
I was standing next to him and the conversation went very close to this:
JS: Chuck, are you excited about what Mr. Greenburg is going to let you do at the park next year?
CM: (eyes light up like a kid in a candy store) Yes! We had a meeting yesterday and he asked me what I wanted, so I told him! (BIG GRIN)
JS: That's Great! I am a big fan of what you do at the ballpark!
CM: Well, it's about to get a LOT better!
You could really see the excitement in his eyes and hear it in his voice... AWESOME!
After the jump are some highlights:

Why the Reserve Clause Makes Sense
How many people's blood pressure rose a few points?
It's all well and good, but what happens when you need to trade someone... or if someone does make it to free agency? How do you pay him?
