In need of dispensation!

First let me say that it has been incredible to have this place of respite to come to over the past weekend to escape the constant media bombardment precipitated by the heinous acts committed on Friday. I learned the news as I was about to post this and was really too addled to continue at that time.

I've been reveling in the, ecstasy, and overall blissful fervor of the posts and comments for the last few days. As others, I feel that this is without question, the best possible selection for the University from an athletic perspective. The larger cathartic/ healing effect is, I believe, just as important and for this I thank Mr Hocutt sincerely.

To this end; I am requesting dispensation from a vow that I made in response to Coach Leaches firing.

The story of the attempts that I made to gain clarity for the decisions that brought the administration to the conclusion that this action was indeed the best for the University is inconsequential at this point. This quest did, however, precipitate my vow that no longer would any of my contributions to higher education go to my Alma mater, until such time as blame for the wrong that was done was accepted by the administration, or until Mr. Hance retired or was removed from his position (was hoping for the latter). For the past 3 years I have supported only the Universities attended by my children, Brown, SMU, And UT (the last two as you might imagine leave a bad taste in my mouth).

I have not been a detractor or negative voice against the past coaching regime as they were thrown into this untenable warped situation and there was no upside for them to exploit. Please understand that I exist in a much more "Black and White" world than do most. I have always lived by three social rules: 1) Don't lie to me 2) Don't lie about me 3) Do the right thing!!! The third has caused me grief and kept me sane.

Pursuant to the events of the past week I am now clearly torn by my wish to renew my full support (w/o support for the Chancellor) for the University where I grew up and received my education, and this vow that I made.

My hope is that someone can provide the wise counsel, or flying front kick, necessary to convince me that because of the monumental nature of the occurrences of the last week I now have dispensation from the social laws that I live by. I'm ready to come home!

To this end; I am requesting dispensation from a vow that I made in response to Coach Leaches firing.

Inalienable Truths from the Center of the Universe

I did my best yesterday to keep up with the goins on as Pullman and WSU welcomed Coach Leach. From an outsider, but now fan, may I say Bravo and how insanely well done that was! Your staff, student body, and public are all to be commended for the incredible level of support.

In preparing for the upcoming year and not wanting to seem like a total Ass Hat (could be to late) when I arrive in Washington next season, I thought that I would throw out some of the Inalienable Truths from My world and see if or how they will play or fail in the frozen North West.

Life Precept Do The Right Thing. (Nuf Said)

We still treat the fairer sex as if they are! Doors are opened, Chairs are offered, Courtesy is still in vogue (this is in no way the case, once an admonition is announced or any sharp hand weapon thrown)

Most, but not all, of Raider Nation will enjoy an adult beverage with anyone wishing to gain from our immense wealth of knowledge. (By “an” I mean any amount legally purchased or sold by local establishments up to the point of requested exodus) We do not however berate or belittle those who choose to abstain for any reason, they are called designated drivers.

Interesting Fact: I have learned from my crack accounting staff that my requested charitable donation deduction for purchasing and consuming beer made by Trappist Monks will most likely NOT be approved. WTF? This was not a small deduction.

Although generally a kind and gentle people we can be whipped into a lathered frenzy by certain groups or actions. (Aggies and T-Sips at the top of this list. Now Huskies? Also MOST politicians)

You will hear colloquialisms from some of us that may or may not need explanation:

That ---- is uglier than a mud fence

Santa must have brought you a sack of stupid

(good result) we just cut a fat hog in the ass

(just bought a new double wide) That Fella is richer than 10 foot up a bull’s ass

Please feel free to ask if explanation is needed.

Interest is sometimes measured with the GAFF scale, My GAFF is high, low, or I got no GAFF. GAFF= Give A F--- Factor.

We are sometimes, generally, almost always long winded and opinionated (This is genetic but the condition may be exacerbated by the alcohol).

In an effort to avoid the previous adage I shall draw to a close, I do need help here because I will act this way until slapped, stabbed, or asked to stop, so feel free to comment. (I have thick skin)

Almost forgot I would love to know your favorite Washington State Wines/ Vineyards, as I will begin distributing some in the Great State of Texas.

A Farewell To Arms and Other Body Parts...

Sitting around the center of the universe (Georgetown, TX) on Saturday and thought that it might be time to issue a Farewell to Arms and other body parts as the fans of WSU prepare for the arrival of their new Coach and Captain Mike Leach.

In reading the postings over the past few days coming from Cougcenter it seems to me that the Captain may have found the only port in which to dock that has the same insanely loyal, independent minded, scurrilous scallywags for fans as are present in the South Plains of Texas. I say this with true affection, as I spent my collegiate years surrounded by the wisdom of the flat lands and the most wonderful, unassuming, friendly people in the state (except for the flat this may sound familiar). These are people who do a thing because it is the right thing to do not because it is the easiest or expected thing to do. This simple precept has caused our rift with the current administration of our University, and given your ability to enjoy the fruits of plunder of your Captain/ Coach Mike Leach.

It seems that your Coach Wulff was able to bring your program to an even keel from its previous troubles and this is huge. When Coach came to Tech the first order of business was to right the ship and he was still able to go to a bowl that year and every year since. I see great things in the future for WSU and its’ wonderful fan base.

My hope for you all is that you keep this same crazy wonderful spirit through the ups and downs that are to come. Do not be dissuaded by the “purists” who will insist that the best way is the old way with the first bump in the road.

To Coach Leach I wish only the best for you and your family, may God watch over your move and life! Thank you for the years that you gave us, we wish that there could have been more.

Go Cougars! Go Tech! Screw the politicians, bureaucrats, and the bat shit crazy, rich ass, douche nozzle, meddling Alumni (sorry to those of you I’ve offended).

On a totally divergent sidebar, my world is wine distribution. As of the middle of this past week the vineyards of Washington State are looking much more inviting. See you in September/ October!
