Arrowhead Pride The next chapter...

Okay, I will start by saying, "I know I know I know I know. We're one day past the regular season, 2011, so why are you already looking at next season, J?" Well, that's a very good question. I guess it deserves a two-part answer: 1) I can't sleep, and 2) I'm actually pretty jacked up about the opportunities that next year may bring.

So, without further adieu, let me give you a step-by-step approach that will never, ever happen... but I'm going to put it in words anyway. I'm not going to get into any kind of mock draft, although I will reveal who our first pick should be. Please feel free to blow the following scenario out the sky when you finish reading...

Arrowhead Pride Who will be the next Head Coach for the Kansas City Chiefs?

I don't live in KC anymore so I don't have the "insider's" slant on all the Head Coach possibilities that I'm sure are being discussed on a daily basis. However, from an outsider's perspective, I might be able to shed some light on a few things some of you may have missed...

Arrowhead Pride 2010 Kansas City Chiefs Draft - Version 2.0

                                                                    2010 Kansas City Chiefs Draft
As many of you know, I posted my mock draft about a month ago. Since then, prospects have moved up and down the board in every round. In my last post I mentioned free agency and how the Chiefs have been no less than spectacular. I still believe that to be true.

I also believe that two highly sought after prospects will be on the board at the fifth pick (Berry and Clausen), and someone is going to make a move to get the man they want. With that, the Chiefs will move down and pick up an extra pick, which most likely be in the second round. I still believe that team is Buffalo. However, I've decided to do this mock draft with no trade scenarios.

I've made some changes based on discussions I've read on this board. I've also studied the needs of the other NFL teams, with a great deal of information coming from our very own fantasy mock draft that we see daily on AP. Kudos to you gentlemen who've put in the time and the effort to get the pulse of the other teams. I'm with you on most of the selections, although there are a few new details that have popped up in recent days that may conflict with the picks that were made.

                                                                               Positions of Need
I've reassessed the situation facing the Chiefs (thanks in part to the heat I received with my last post). One of the biggest concerns was the NT position. Glenn Dorsey is simply a man without a position on this team. He's athletic enough to hold his own as a 3-4 DE, although he's outmatched each and every game. At this point, he's just not big enough to play the nose. So, if 3-4 is the way we're going to line up, we've got to find the mountain in the middle somewhere in this draft.

With that being said, here's my final mock draft for 2010

Arrowhead Pride 2010 Kansas City Chiefs Draft

With the additions of Ryan Lilja, Casey Wiegmann, Shaun Smith, and Thomas Jones, the Chiefs have done an exceptional job in free agency this year. With these key roster positions in mind, it's time now to focus on the upcoming draft. I've researched just about every mock draft site known to man over the last few months and I DVR'd every day of the scouting combine this year, so I think I've got a pretty good understanding of the talent pool  coming out of the college ranks. With that being said, I've scrolled over all the names available and conducted a mock draft of my own...
