Former Wolverine Morgan Trent quoted in the Detroit Free Press;

"I think it’s supposed to be a big deal, being an in-state rivalry. The problem ... is that we don’t really take them serious. The countdown is cool and all, but we don’t take them serious as a program. ... Yeah, you beat us the last couple years, but like I said, who hasn’t beat us? So big whoop."

So, because Michigan has relatively sucked, our recent success as a program doesn't mean much? I'm all for former Wolverines admitting their programs struggles, but don't go out of your way to attack ours. All Trent does is illustrate the directions of the programs, we don't need to supply bulletin board material because our play has done the talking since Dantonio's arrival.

Bruce Feldman ranks Edwin Baker as #7 on his list of surprise Heisman candidates. I pasted his summary below since it is an ESPN Insider Article;

"One of the most underrated backs in college football, Baker had a strong sophomore season for the 11-2 Spartans, running for 1,201 yards, 5.8 yards per carry and 13 TDs. The downside: He was a non-factor against some of the best defenses MSU saw (nine carries for 21 yards versus the Iowa Hawkeyes and 12 carries for 14 yards against the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Capital One Bowl). He also competes for carries with Le'Veon Bell and Larry Caper."

He is the top ranked running back on the list, preceded by 6 QBs and he is the only B1G player on the list, not including honorable mentions.

Not about us Spartans, but still about our state. An interesting trend(?) found between Michigan football success and the unemployment rate in the state. Also, as they noted, Michigan State football seems to be doing the opposite of the jobless rate.

(Bumped. Also, my gamertag is rossmanp (all lowercase) if you're up for a game or dyansty - Pete)

I've created the new MSU uniforms as well as I can on EA Sports team builder. The new font and numbers could not be replicated, not that many of you will mind that. Also, you can not have "Michigan State" spelled across the front so I used "Spartans" for all of them. The away alternate, alternate pants and alternate helmet are my own, as MSU currently doesn't have those. The only other flaw is that you can not assign MSU's fight song to this team, but you can take care of this issue with the custom in-game sounds. Let me know if you think anything should be altered, it is under PS3 gamertag MichState12.

The Only Colors Alamo Bowl Blowout

Mark May picked the Michigan State/Texas Tech matchup as the non-BCS game most likely to be a blowout. He cites the suspension of eight players and Tech's passing abilities. Nothing we didn't already know, but its getting old that the suspensions are constantly brought up whenever the Alamo is featured. I fear the possibility of a blowout, but there is a reason they play the games on the field and not on paper.
