Rashad Jennings may be the steal of this years draft...

(Editors note: I loved the tone of this fanpost - Terry)

The more I look at this year's draft the more I wish we would have pulled the trigger and promoted Gene Smith couple of years ago. I liked Shack but the selection method he employed wasn't very good in selecting top NFL talent. Enter Gene Smith. Only time will tell but this draft could be the best in Jags history. I know that may be a bit optimistic but if the top half of the draft pans out like it should with Monroe and Britton, the bottom half may be just as strong (maybe better?). The three receivers we got late look very promising, but I think Rashad Jennings may be the steal of the 2009 draft. The fact that he was playing ahead of Lesean McCoy as freshmen at Pitt is a good sign. I also consider the fact that he transferred to Liberty not because of academics or disciplinary actions but to be close to his Dad and family is also a positive in regards to character and heart. Check out this youtube video of Jennings...Rashad Jennings Video pretty cool. He looks explosive and seems to be a north-south runner who also has the speed to turn the corner. He also catches the ball well. I know he played against smaller schools while at liberty but in this years Senior Bowl he led all rushers . I see a strong possibility that he will be getting substantial carries this year as a Jaguar.

Good job, Gene Smith. Thank you for bringing excitment back to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

I think we all know it is, but to what extent? I just saw this report on Fox news http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,517750,00.html saying tha the NFL is in serious talks to have the SuperBowl in London.WTF, I have to say that again, WTF? Does this piss anyone else off as much as me? I wouldn't even know where to begin because this upsets me on so many levels. I will wait for some feedback from you, the other BCC contributors, before I get too upset.

Instead of trading for Boldin....

maybe the Jags should look into trading for Tony Gonzalez at tight end. I know this is supposed to be a rebuilding year but in today's NFL, teams can rebuild really quick. If we could get him for a good price, our passing game would be on the immediate rise. Add Torry Holt (if he ever signs) and a top notch rookie wide receiver and our anemic passing offense might not be so laughable.

doesn't have Everette Brown being drafted in the 1st round. Just curious, is this an oversight or has Brown's stock dropped that much lately? I saw him dominate in several games last year and even though he isn't on the top of the Jags needs, I can't believe he will drop to the 2nd round. However, with all the bad info on Percy Harvin, I can see him dropping to the last half of the 1st round or early second.

at least that is what the Cardinals are being reported to be asking for the wide receiver. If the Jags were to get involved and pull the trigger on this trade, I would be happy but it might be a steep price to pay. I think one of the teams that is being reported interested in Boldin, like the Eagles, Redskins, or Giants, will probably make a deal in the next 3 or 4 days.

After hearing that Torry Holt really liked his visit with the Tennessee Titans, I thought he would have already be signed. Is the fact that nothing has happened increase the chance that the Jags are still in the picture? Are they waiting for the draft before anything will be done? If I was the Jags, I would add a million to the offer just to keep him away from our most hated rival, the Titans.

to trade up, at least the media is. http://www.denverpost.com/klis/ci_12124654 It's also comforting to hear they may be interested in 3 players and not just a QB. Also, Peter King mentions the Broncos may trade up for someone other than a QB. I hope the Denver war-room reads the papers. I'm tired of trying to figure this out, I'm glad we're under 2 weeks and counting!

Could a team like the Giants trade up?

For a receiver. Now that they have released Plaxico Burress, would the Giants be willing to trade up for Crabtree if he is still available at #8? I'm more convinced now that Stafford and Sanchez will probably be gone. Since it is the common belief that the Jags are high on Sanchez, whether it is a smokescreen or not, is it probable that one of teams looking to draft a QB will trade up in front of the Jags? Also, if both QB's are gone, does this increase the chances that one of the top rated linemen drop to #8?

looks like Raji just lost a bunch of money! I wonder how far he will drop in this years draft? Too bad Reggie Williams is gone, could have hooked him up. I know Gene Smith just marked him off the board if he still had ideas of drafting Raji in the first round. No need to take a chance on his character, a fact shared here on BCC for a while. I wonder who will end up taking the chance and with what pick?

I heard reports that Torry Holt will be in Jacksonville today. If so, i don't care if they overpay him a little bit, just sign him. If T.O. is worth $6 million to the Bills, I think what Holt would mean to the Jags is worth that much. Jerry Porters ordeal shouldn't make us gunshy to sign a future hall of famer and good locker room guy like Holt. Going into the draft with Holt on our roster would be awesome.
