You can add WR Clarence Denmark to the list of cuts. I was really hoping he would make it this year. Hopefully they'll keep him on the practice squad.
MoJo got snuffed
Anyone watch Marshal Faulks top 5 RB's on NFL.com, MoJo got snuffed. After reading through all of the comments with people saying "this RB or that RB should have been on the list", this is what I posted. Comments?
Comparing backs who have been in the NFL for at least 3 seasons, Jones-Drew and Tomlinson are the two most productive backs in the NFL over the past 3 seasons. PRODUCTION, that's yards and touchdowns. That's all that really matters for a back right? Get the ball down the field, and get it in the end zone. I'm not discounting Peterson, Forte, or Johnson, we all know that have been super-productive are all great backs. But none of them have been in the league long enough to really sustain a good amount of numbers for this. I'm only comparing over the most recent three seasons. Adding up total touches, yards and touchdowns, here's how it pans out for some of those on the list and others that have been named here.
M. Turner- Touches= 582, Yards= 2663, Yards per touch= 4.5, TD= 20
C. Portis- Touches= 886, Yards= 4049, Yards per touch= 4.5, TD= 27
R. Brown- Touches= 679, Yards= 3445, Yards per touch= 5.0, TD= 20
S. Jackson- Touches= 1004, Yards= 5028, Yards per touch= 5.0, TD= 30
L. Tomlinson- Touches= 1123, Yards= 5808, Yards per touch= 5.1, TD= 61
B. Westbrook- Touches= 981, Yards= 5476, Yards per touch= 5.5, TD= 38
D. Williams- Touches= 661, Yards= 4196, Yards per touch= 6.3, TD= 27
M. JonesDrew- Touches= 764, Yards= 6003, Yards per touch= 7.8, TD= 40
Listed in order of yards per touch, MoJo clearly dominates in production with 7.8 yards per touch and is only second to Tomlinson in touchdows. Like I said, this is only backs that have been in the league for three years, and is only comparing the past three years.
My top 3 in order would be Peterson, Tomlinson, and Jones-Drew, I think the man deserves it.
Denmark signing
Posted about this guy Clarence Denmark back in April when the Jags missed him in the draft and UDFA. I just got word yesterday that he was signed. Can't wait to see what he can do. I think we have some great young talent all over this team this year. I just wish I was back in Jax to enjoy it all, unfortunately I'm stuck in Chicago for the next two seasons. Here's the original post. Clarence Denmark
Clarence Denmark!
The Jags definitely need to bring this guy in and give him a chance to compete. Has anyone ever seen anything on him? Stellar speed and strength, great hands. The only downside I can see to the guy is that he played for a small school. He's a smart guy, with great character. I think he would be a great fit for the Jags. Here's a link to his site, www.clarencedenmark.com
What do you guys think?
