let me preface this by saying that i am not a A&M fan or for that matter a college football fan, but i do have a very good friend that is involved in the athletics department and he told me today that Steve Spurrier is all but a done deal. this is just what i heard, and i thought it would be interesting if it comes true.

Carry On.

I just finished a great book on "The shot heard round the world". Which I personally think is the greatest moment in baseball history.

Anyway, if you are into good baseball books,it is one of the best I have read. I think it really tells the story of how that moment affected the rest of the lives of Bobby Thomson and Ralph Branca. The book centers around the sign stealing of the New York Giants during the 1951 season and how it played a part in the "Bobby Thomson home run" and the lives of the two unlikely celebrities.

Check it out, I think baseball historians will enjoy it.

Kevin

Tony Romo, the Leader

It was right there, right there!

We will hear all the clichés, "We wouldn't have been in this position without Tony", "He got us here", "He drove them down there at the end". The reason we hear the same old clichés are because they are always true, and of course I believe that all of the ones I used are true. The concern I really have though is not that the Cowboys lost and as a fan I am upset, but how will it affect this kid?

Is it really his fault that they lost? Yep. And Bill's and Terrence's and Roy's and Terry's and TO's. The only problem is that the last guy that screws up gets all the blame. The positive I see in the game is what I saw after the game in the press conference, when Tony Romo took complete responsibility for the loss. I think this will make him a stronger person, which will make him a better quarterback, and just from tonight alone, it is apparent that he is a Leader.

"It hurts real bad right now," a sullen Romo said. "I cost the Dallas Cowboys a playoff win. That's going to sit with me a long time. I don't know if I've ever felt this low."

Responsibility = Accountability. Players on this team need to take heed to what Romo did tonight, no excuses, just responsibility.

Are you listening Terrell, I didn't try to commit suicide, and all the other whoa as me, how come everyone is coming down on me, things, oh and don't forget the 2 drops a game, my quota, Owens. It is because you put yourself in that situation TO, and I can give you 25 million reasons why you do that.

Big Bill, I think I will play for a field goal all game long, or probably go ahead and take responsibility and then blame someone else by saying, " I told the - insert player or coach, whichever is applicable- not to do it that way", Parcells.

Terrence, I can't cover Bobby "The Spare" Engram, Newman.

Terry, I dropped the ball on the first play of the game and then gave the ball up on the goal line, Glenn.

And of course "The Great Roy Williams". Man did you see the way he covered Jeremy Stevens?, yea, me neither.

I will give TO credit for taking responsibility in the Washington game, although in my opinion the loss was Roy Williams fault, though you never heard him take any of the load on his shoulders. The TO drop deep over the middle happened while the Cowboys still had a 7 point lead, as did the Roy Williams 48 yard penalty, which, of course, effectively lost the lead. {Reference below, from www.nfl.com :}

Responsibility, it's a lost art in sports.

Dallas Cowboys at 05:32
1-10-DAL16 (5:32) J.Jones right guard to DAL 20 for 4 yards (W.Holdman, A.Carter).
2-7-WAS23 (:40) M.Brunell pass short middle to C.Portis to WAS 32 for 9 yards (A.Ayodele, B.James).
Fourth Quarter
Washington Redskins continued...
1-10-WAS32 (15:00) A.Randle El pass incomplete short right to B.Lloyd. Handoff from 8-M.Brunell to 82-A.Randle El PENALTY on DAL-

R.Williams, Defensive Pass Interference, 48 yards, enforced at WAS 32 - No Play.

1-10-DAL20 (14:53) C.Portis left tackle to DAL 18 for 2 yards (D.Ware, J.Ferguson).

I see everyone freaking out about not having padilla and trying to get zito, which i want both on this team, but i never hear anything positve or negative about Robinson Tejeda. Once he was called back up in August last year, he had 8 starts and gave up 14 earned runs, i think i would take that out of a 4th starter. Maybe he has finally found it.

This note is just to say thanks to "Rob" for offering the tickets for tonight's game. My 2 sons and 3 friends went out and had a great time at the game. Then they recieved the bonus of the Jim Sundberg Bobbleheads, which are very nice by the way. I called them while they were at the game and told them that "Sunny" was signing the bobbleheads and could they get one for their 88 year old Great Grandmother. They just came home and showed me the autographs, and they are greatness, I then told my boys, that their Great Grandmother's favorite player of all time is Jim Sundberg. She will be thrilled beyond description.

So in closing, "Rob" was just giving away 5 dollar tickets so they wouldn't go to waste, but I wanted to let him know how much they were appreciated on this end. The Boys did a great thing for their Grandmother, and I can't wait to see her face when they give it to her, tomorrow.

Thanks Again,

Hey Folks, I was listening to the Ticket today and they were talking about Michael Young. They said that if he gets 200 hits this year, he will join some select company of only like 6 or 7 players to have 200 hits in 4 strait seasons. Where do I go to get this info? I couldn't find it on Baseball-Reference. Could someone provide me with a link that they have?

I love this kind of stuff.
Thanks

Let's Assume:

It's late July, the Astros are out of the race. The Rangers still have a nice lead.

The Astros ask Roger about a trade to the Rangers so they can get Round Rock's own John Danks and their new center-Fielder Lance Nix.

Possible??

Roger then helps his favorite team out and still gets a shot at the World Series.

Buck,

I can't stress enough how important this weekend is to our ballclub. I know that it is just 3 of 162, but you may not realize that we could knock a team out of "the Race for Roger" this weekend. The Astros were just destroyed by the Giants for 3 days. Roger's former team is falling fast in the standings and we need to continue that trend, so I would suggest you manage like you are down 3 games to 1 in the World Series. I know you are saying, that is a little drastic, but please understand, the best chance we have to make it to the Series lives there in Houston, and if we can humiliate his hometown team, I think it will knock them out of "the Race". There would still be 3 teams there for Roger to choose from, but how do you think it would look to Roger while he is on that Exercise Bike, if Oswalt was getting rocked tonight.

    You also have a built in excuse for replacing Phil Nevin in the clean-up spot with Hank Blalock. {Oh by the way, if Nevin is the 1st off the bench to pinch hit, instead of Gerald Laird, you will be fired. Why, because you said today on Norm's show that Phil could catch if you needed him to, so, I don't want to hear about any situation where you could possibly lose the extra catcher.}

In Closing, do your best and absolutely no CJ Wilson this weekend.

Jon
