Where is the best place to learn about sabermetrics? I know a little about the subject, but I really want to expand my knowledge. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
How about trading Soria to the Twins for a couple of thier top prospects? Angel Morales and Wilson Ramos would be 2 of the prospects I'd take for Soria. We aren't close to being a winning team, why not stock up on talent now?

LeGarrette Blount would look good in a Chiefs uniform next season. He is a big back, has good footwork, and I know he punched a player, but he did his time. I would like to see us take a chance with LeGarrette.
Pioli should make a play for the Jags DE Quentin Groves, who is said to be on the block at a discounted rate. Offer up a 4th round pic for the first rounder from 2 years ago. If they bite then we have another weapon to come from the outside opposite Hali.
D Coordinator Darkhorse
The majority of the people on this site have decided that Romeo Crennel would be the best choice for our next DC, me included, but I have a new name for you: Bill Davis. He is currently the linebackers coach for the AZ Cardinals, and former DC of the San Francisco 49ers. He runs a 4-3 "under" Defense which is explaned here, along with a 3-4. His father was also the VP of Player Personnel for the Browns for 6 seasons and spent 7 other season in the NFL as well. After reading about coach Davis and learning about his defensive schemes, I think he is my top candidate to be DC. My prediction for the game is: AZ 26 PIT 20. Anquan Boldin will have a huge game and be named MVP.
Realistic FA wishlist.
Here is my list of potential free agent additions for the Kansas City Chiefs this off-season. I'm very much in favor of a switch to the 3-4 defense.
OFFENSE
Matt Birk C Minnesota Vikings
Antonio Bryant WR Tampa Bay Bucs
DEFENSE
Igor Olshansky DE San Diego Chargers
Shaun Cody DT Detroit Lions or Rocky Bernard DT Seattle Seahawks
Channing Crowder ILB Miami Dolphins
Karlos Dansby OLB Arizona Cardinals
Romeo Crennel D Coordinator

Orakpo is a Freak!
We have been talking about who we want with our first round draft pick for the past few weeks now. Maualuga, Lairinaitis, Johnson, Oher, Crabtree, and Orakpo have all been mentioned. This morning I stumbled across this ESPN Sportscenter feature on Texas DE Brian Orakpo, and he is a freaking monster. I still want Lairinaitis with the first pick, but if we selected "Rak" I wouldn't be that upset. Check out this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGUc3UL64f0
He dominates Oklahoma LT Phil Loadholt in this video:
From an outsider looking in.
I live in Kansas City, MO and wanted to know what the deal was with your franchise? I've read in multiple places that the Hornets and the Bobcats are the teams most likely to relocate. Is there any truth to this, or what? I would never want to steal another cities franchise, but if they are in trouble we did just open the brand new Sprint Center in KC. What type of lease do you have with the city, and do you have any trouble filling the arena? Thanks for the info, and Chris Paul is by far the most exciting player in the League.
Offseason Moves
The offseason that follows this season is one of the most important in recent Kansas City Chiefs history. Could Carl be gone? What about Herm and the coaching staff? That has already been discussed enough on this site, so lets talk about which free agents will be available in the offseason. The key positions we need to make upgrades to our:OL, DE, LB, QB, and WR.
Offensive Line Free Agent Targets
Jordan Gross OT Carolina Panthers- He was franchised for this season, but the chances are it will not happen again. He has been an above average OT since he came into the league in the 2003 draft. With him at RT and Albert at LT we would be in good shape at the tackle position for the next few years.
Marc Colombo OT Dallas Cowboys- He is a very large RT that is in the final year of his contract with Dallas. He is a little older than we may want, but he has played at a high level the past few years at Dallas.
What I would do: Sign Gross to a 4 year deal.
Defensive End Free Agent Targets
Julius Peppers DE Carolina Panthers- Very athletic, but streaky player who looks like he lacks motivation. I'm a little worried about how he will respond to the huge contract he will get this offseason.
Terrell Suggs- A cheaper option to Peppers, but will probably turn out to be worth more in the long run.
What I would do: Flirt with Suggs to see what he wants, probably end up drafting a DE though.
Linebacker Free Agents Targets
Karlos Dansby LB Arizona Cardinals- A must gert in my opinion. He will be exspensive, but he is young, talented, and intense. Visit his website here.
Jonathan Vilma LB New Orleans Saints- Will his relationship with Herm be enough to pull him out of New Orleans? Not sure, but he is proving to be healthy this year and will only be 27 when next season starts.
What I would do: Throw the bank at Dansby.
Quarterback Free Agent Targets
Jeff Garcia QB Tampa Bay Buccaneers- He's a man he's 40! But signing him to a 2 year deal, while a qb we drafted sits on the bench learning would be a good thing.
JP Losman QB Buffalo Bills- Who doesn't want this guy in KC? He will be 28 next year, has a rocket arm, and is a good leader, BUT he is injury prone.
What I would do: Sign Garcia to a 2 year deal, and draft a QB in the 1st round in 2009 or 2010
Wide Reciever Free Agent Targets
Nate Washington WR Pittsburgh Steelers- Young, big play threat( at the combine he ran a 4.5 40, with a 39 inch vertical). He would be a cheap option in the offseason, with more potential than Devard Darling.
TJ Houshmandzadeh WR Cincinnati Bengals- Most accomplished WR to hit the market, he will be way to exspensive for this rebuilding team.
What I would do: Sign Nate Washington to a 5 year deal, and draft a WR as well.

Chiefs go to Philly for coaches?
I'm a huge Kansas City Chiefs fan(very embarassing, but loyal) and wanted to know what you guys think of a few of your coaches and front office types. I wrote a post about it over at Arrowheadpride.com called "If I were in Charge", it is my idea to right the Chiefs ship. The McNabb thing is just wishful thinking. Could you give me your opinions on the guys I chose from the Eagles organization? I have alot of respect for your team and how it is run, if you couldn't tell. Thanks for any info on these coaches.
If I were in charge!
For the the next few minutes I'm going to pretend that I had the power to make any changes I wanted to the Chiefs. I'm going to remake our front office and coaching staff, maybe add a new qb to the mix as well. This is all takes place minutes after the 2008 season ends. After you see what I would do, I'm sure you all have other ideas as well, tell us what changes you would make if you were in charge.
First thing first, I would get permission from the Philadelphia Eagles to talk with Director of Player Personnel Jon Sandusky, then I would offer him the GM position with the Chiefs. After he accepts I would call Carl Peterson into my office and tell him that he is no longer employed with the Chiefs franchise, he loses all 17 of his current roles with the club.
After GM Sandusky has his press conference, he looks at the current coaching staff and isn't happy. He is the one that is now calling his former employer to get permission to talk with current Eagles asst. head coach Marty Mornhinweg about becoming the Chiefs Head Coach. He jumps at the opportunity(I don't think he ever had a chance with the Lions) and secondary coach Sean McDermott, then calling the Carolina Panthers to talk with QB Coach Mike McCoy. After all 3 accept postions Mornhinweg as HC, McDermott as DC, and McCoy as OC, the coaching staff is put in place, they will hire their own guys for the position coaches.
Now that the new coaching staff is in place I will call Herm into my office and fire him, same with Chan Gailey, then I will send Gunther an email telling him he is fired as well. Chiefs fans rejoice everywhere as they get what they have wanted for a long time today.
GM Sandusky spends the next month reviewing his roster, and with the help of his new coaching staff decides that some changes need to be made. The Chiefs rid themselves of some players that don't fit into the rebuilding plans, so long Damian MacIntosh, Donnie Edwards, Damon Huard, and Patrick Surtain. GM Sandusky then trades Tony Gonzalez to the Packers for 4th and 7th round picks, Larry Johnson is also traded to the Patriots for a 7th, but we eat a 3rd of his salary. Since we have no NFL qb on the current roster we decide to sign Donovan McNabb to a 3 year 20 million dollar deal plus 12 million guaranteed.
Now its April and time for the draft, the Chiefs have been on the clock since December. With the first pick in the draft the Kansas City Chiefs select: Michael Oher OT Ole' Miss. Round 2: Mark Sanchez QB USC Round 3: Matt Shaugnnessy DE Wisconsin Round 4: Tiquan Underwood WR Rutgers Round 4: Kraig Urbik OG Wisconsin Round 5: AQ Shipley C Penn St Round 6: Sherrod Martin CB Troy Round 7: Chase Patton QB Missouri Round 7: Ryan Succop K South Carolina Round 7: CJ Spillman S Marshall
If JasonM were in charge this is how I would remake the Chiefs, I probably just did more work in this fanpost than Carl Peterson has in the past 3 years.
Chiefs GM Search: T.J. McCreight
What's up Cleveland, it's me again asking about one of your front office guys. Does anybody here know anything about TJ McCreight, good or bad? We are in hell in Kansas City with Carl Peterson and need somebody young that has football knowledge, not just a businessman like Carl. We are starting to do some research about some viable candidates for our GM position in KC and TJ looks like a pretty good option. Thanks for any info and good luck this weekend in Washington.
Chiefs GM Search: Nick Caserio
Hello Patriots fans, I'm here to get your opinion on your Director of Player Personnel, Nick Caserio. As you all probably know Carl Peterson is the GM in Kansas City and 20 years later he is still working on his "5 year plan" that started in 1989. So far it seems to be working out well for the Falcons with Thomas Dimitroff, but he has alot more exp. than Caserio. I know that he and Josh McDaniels(OC) were teammates at John Carroll, do you think KC could grab him too? Probably not, but we need a ton of help in KC. Thanks for your help, and please beat the donkeys this weekend.
2009 NFL Draft Watch: DE
After watching the first 4 games of the 2008 NFL season it's apparent that we need to add a pass rush in FA or the 2009 NFL Draft. The list of free agent DE's is impressive with Julius Peppers, Terrell Suggs, and Bertrand Berry being available. The draft will have more than a few capable players available to us with guys like Michael Johnson Georgia Tech, Tyson Jackson LSU, Will Johnson Michigan, and Matt Shaugnnessy Wisconsin. They are all seniors. Juniors to watch are George Selvie SFU, Auston English Oklahoma, Jan Jorgenson BYU, and Dexter Davis ASU.
Michael Johnson, George Selvie, and Matt Shaugnnessy are my top 3 choices in the draft next year. Johnson and Selvie will be top 10 picks, but Shaugnnessy will be available later.
Hyperextended right elbow.
Rookie LT Branden Albert left the game on Sunday with a hyperextended right elbow, according to Herm Edwards on 101.1 "The Fox" halftime show. He said that it wasn't serious but he wouldn't come back to the game(which he didn't). For it being not serious it looked like BA was in alot of pain as he was being carted off the field. How long does it typically take to get back from this injury? Herb Taylor played very well in his absence, but we still need BA out there to develop.
Question from a Chiefs fan.
If you haven't noticed the Chiefs are struggling at the qb position. We have Croyle, Huard, and Thigpen on the roster. We recently signed Ingle Martin from the Titans practice squad and we are trying out a Cowboys scrub today(Richard Bartel). My question to you is: What type of offer would it take for the Chiefs to trade for Brady Quinn? A 2nd or 3rd round pick? A pick and a member of our secondary(Surtain or Page). I'm just trying to figure out how hard it would be to make a deal for him. Thanks and as a Mizzou fan you guys have a stud in Martin Rucker!
Anquan Boldin?
For the past couple weeks Anquan Boldin of the AZ Cardinals has made it known that he is not happy with his current situation, saying that he has no relationship whatsoever with his head coach. He has asked to be traded, stating that he wants to be treated fairly with a new contract. This guy would fit perfectly with the Kansas City offense, he catches everything, he is an outstanding blocker, and he is still pretty young(27). Should the Chiefs offer a 2nd and a 3rd round pick for this very talented WR? I think so! Adding Boldin to Bowe and Gonzalez would open up our running game that much more.
I'm trying to open a gym.
I am trying to open up a gym dedicated to MMA. The reason I'm writing this is to get any opinions you all may have about this subject. What would you like to see change at your current gym? What do you like about it? If it were open later would that matter? Would having a cage and ring matter? Would you use a complete gym for strength and cardio? Would having a few big names in MMA in to do seminars be something you would like? Thanks for all your help with this, I want it to be the best.
Post Draft Record Prediction?
Since these are the playes we will go into the 2008 NFL season with, what does everyone think the starting lineup will look like heading into New England? With that since I am bored off my mind, what is your predicted record for next season? I shall lead things off.
Offense:

Undrafted FA's We Should Take A Look At.
Here is a list of guys I would like the Chiefs to take a look at in the coming days, or even hours.
Defense: Ali Highsmith OLB LSU, Wesley Woodyard OLB Kentucky, Marcus Dixon DE Hampton, J Leman ILB Illinois, Ben Moffitt ILB South Florida, Titus Brown DE Mississippi St., Michael Grant CB Arkansas, Marcus Griffin S Texas, Dennis Keyes S UCLA
Offense: Drew Radovich G USC, Eric Young G Tennessee, Pedro Sosa G Rutgers, Robert Felton G Arkansas, Andrew Crummey G Maryland, Shannon Tevaga G UCLA, Thaddeus Coleman T Mississippi Valley St., Fernando Velasco C Georgia, Franklin Dunbar T Middle Tenn. St., Anthony Morelli QB Penn St., Paul Smith QB Tulsa, Lance Leggett WR Miami, Darius Reynaud WR West Virginia, Dorien Bryant WR Purdue, D.J. Hall WR Alabama
Bob Gretz Fired!
I was listening to Between the Lines this afternoon and Keitzman started the show by saying that there is more bad news coming out of Arrowhead. He said that Carl Peterson has been de-clawed since he can't even protect a broadcaster anymore. He will be replaced on the sidelines by Kendall Gammon. This isn't huge news, but I liked Gretz and thought everybody would like to know. Also did anybody else see Mitch Holtus on Path to the Draft 2 days ago? He was mumbling, mispronouncing peoples names, and saying the wrong first names(he referred to Jake Long as Jake Ryan) he looked like an idiot up there.
