We have been talking about who we want with our first round draft pick for the past few weeks now. Maualuga, Lairinaitis, Johnson, Oher, Crabtree, and Orakpo have all been mentioned. This morning I stumbled across this ESPN Sportscenter feature on Texas DE Brian Orakpo, and he is a freaking monster. I still want Lairinaitis with the first pick, but if we selected "Rak" I wouldn't be that upset. Check out this video:

I live in Kansas City, MO and wanted to know what the deal was with your franchise? I've read in multiple places that the Hornets and the Bobcats are the teams most likely to relocate. Is there any truth to this, or what? I would never want to steal another cities franchise, but if they are in trouble we did just open the brand new Sprint Center in KC. What type of lease do you have with the city, and do you have any trouble filling the arena? Thanks for the info, and Chris Paul is by far the most exciting player in the League.

Offseason Moves

The offseason that follows this season is one of the most important in recent Kansas City Chiefs history. Could Carl be gone? What about Herm and the coaching staff? That has already been discussed enough on this site, so lets talk about which free agents will be available in the offseason. The key positions we need to make upgrades to our:OL, DE, LB, QB, and WR.

Offensive Line Free Agent Targets

Jordan Gross OT Carolina Panthers- He was franchised for this season, but the chances are it will not happen again. He has been an above average OT since he came into the league in the 2003 draft. With him at RT and Albert at LT we would be in good shape at the tackle position for the next few years.

Marc Colombo OT Dallas Cowboys- He is a very large RT that is in the final year of his contract with Dallas. He is a little older than we may want, but he has played at a high level the past few years at Dallas.

What I would do: Sign Gross to a 4 year deal.

Defensive End Free Agent Targets

Julius Peppers DE Carolina Panthers- Very athletic, but streaky player who looks like he lacks motivation. I'm a little worried about how he will respond to the huge contract he will get this offseason.

Terrell Suggs- A cheaper option to Peppers, but will probably turn out to be worth more in the long run.

What I would do: Flirt with Suggs to see what he wants, probably end up drafting a DE though.

Linebacker Free Agents Targets

Karlos Dansby LB Arizona Cardinals- A must gert in my opinion. He will be exspensive, but he is young, talented, and intense. Visit his website here.

Jonathan Vilma LB New Orleans Saints- Will his relationship with Herm be enough to pull him out of New Orleans? Not sure, but he is proving to be healthy this year and will only be 27 when next season starts.

What I would do: Throw the bank at Dansby.

Quarterback Free Agent Targets

Jeff Garcia QB Tampa Bay Buccaneers- He's a man he's 40! But signing him to a 2 year deal, while a qb we drafted sits on the bench learning would be a good thing.

JP Losman QB Buffalo Bills- Who doesn't want this guy in KC? He will be 28 next year, has a rocket arm, and is a good leader, BUT he is injury prone.

What I would do: Sign Garcia to a 2 year deal, and draft a QB in the 1st round in 2009 or 2010

Wide Reciever Free Agent Targets

Nate Washington WR Pittsburgh Steelers- Young, big play threat( at the combine he ran a 4.5 40, with a 39 inch vertical). He would be a cheap option in the offseason, with more potential than Devard Darling.

TJ Houshmandzadeh WR Cincinnati Bengals- Most accomplished WR to hit the market, he will be way to exspensive for this rebuilding team.

What I would do: Sign Nate Washington to a 5 year deal, and draft a WR as well.

I'm a huge Kansas City Chiefs fan(very embarassing, but loyal) and wanted to know what you guys think of a few of your coaches and front office types. I wrote a post about it over at Arrowheadpride.com called "If I were in Charge", it is my idea to right the Chiefs ship. The McNabb thing is just wishful thinking. Could you give me your opinions on the guys I chose from the Eagles organization? I have alot of respect for your team and how it is run, if you couldn't tell. Thanks for any info on these coaches.

For the the next few minutes I'm going to pretend that I had the power to make any changes I wanted to the Chiefs. I'm going to remake our front office and coaching staff, maybe add a new qb to the mix as well. This is all takes place minutes after the 2008 season ends. After you see what I would do, I'm sure you all have other ideas as well, tell us what changes you would make if you were in charge.

First thing first, I would get permission from the Philadelphia Eagles to talk with Director of Player Personnel Jon Sandusky, then I would offer him the GM position with the Chiefs. After he accepts I would call Carl Peterson into my office and tell him that he is no longer employed with the Chiefs franchise, he loses all 17 of his current roles with the club.

After GM Sandusky has his press conference, he looks at the current coaching staff and isn't happy. He is the one that is now calling his former employer to get permission to talk with current Eagles asst. head coach Marty Mornhinweg about becoming the Chiefs Head Coach. He jumps at the opportunity(I don't think he ever had a chance with the Lions) and secondary coach Sean McDermott, then calling the Carolina Panthers to talk with QB Coach Mike McCoy. After all 3 accept postions Mornhinweg as HC, McDermott as DC, and McCoy as OC, the coaching staff is put in place, they will hire their own guys for the position coaches.

Now that the new coaching staff is in place I will call Herm into my office and fire him, same with Chan Gailey, then I will send Gunther an email telling him he is fired as well. Chiefs fans rejoice everywhere as they get what they have wanted for a long time today.

GM Sandusky spends the next month reviewing his roster, and with the help of his new coaching staff decides that some changes need to be made. The Chiefs rid themselves of some players that don't fit into the rebuilding plans, so long Damian MacIntosh, Donnie Edwards, Damon Huard, and Patrick Surtain. GM Sandusky then trades Tony Gonzalez to the Packers for 4th and 7th round picks, Larry Johnson is also traded to the Patriots for a 7th, but we eat a 3rd of his salary. Since we have no NFL qb on the current roster we decide to sign Donovan McNabb to a 3 year 20 million dollar deal plus 12 million guaranteed.

Now its April and time for the draft, the Chiefs have been on the clock since December. With the first pick in the draft the Kansas City Chiefs select: Michael Oher OT Ole' Miss. Round 2: Mark Sanchez QB USC Round 3: Matt Shaugnnessy DE Wisconsin Round 4: Tiquan Underwood WR Rutgers Round 4: Kraig Urbik OG Wisconsin Round 5: AQ Shipley C Penn St Round 6: Sherrod Martin CB Troy Round 7: Chase Patton QB Missouri Round 7: Ryan Succop K South Carolina Round 7: CJ Spillman S Marshall

If JasonM were in charge this is how I would remake the Chiefs, I probably just did more work in this fanpost than Carl Peterson has in the past 3 years.

Hello Patriots fans, I'm here to get your opinion on your Director of Player Personnel, Nick Caserio. As you all probably know Carl Peterson is the GM in Kansas City and 20 years later he is still working on his "5 year plan" that started in 1989. So far it seems to be working out well for the Falcons with Thomas Dimitroff, but he has alot more exp. than Caserio. I know that he and Josh McDaniels(OC) were teammates at John Carroll, do you think KC could grab him too? Probably not, but we need a ton of help in KC. Thanks for your help, and please beat the donkeys this weekend.

After watching the first 4 games of the 2008 NFL season it's apparent that we need to add a pass rush in FA or the 2009 NFL Draft. The list of free agent DE's is impressive with Julius Peppers, Terrell Suggs, and Bertrand Berry being available. The draft will have more than a few capable players available to us with guys like Michael Johnson Georgia Tech, Tyson Jackson LSU, Will Johnson Michigan, and Matt Shaugnnessy Wisconsin. They are all seniors. Juniors to watch are George Selvie SFU, Auston English Oklahoma, Jan Jorgenson BYU, and Dexter Davis ASU.

Michael Johnson, George Selvie, and Matt Shaugnnessy are my top 3 choices in the draft next year. Johnson and Selvie will be top 10 picks, but Shaugnnessy will be available later.

Rookie LT Branden Albert left the game on Sunday with a hyperextended right elbow, according to Herm Edwards on 101.1 "The Fox" halftime show. He said that it wasn't serious but he wouldn't come back to the game(which he didn't). For it being not serious it looked like BA was in alot of pain as he was being carted off the field. How long does it typically take to get back from this injury? Herb Taylor played very well in his absence, but we still need BA out there to develop.
