MLB's best and worst farm systems

10

Finally the Rangers have something to be proud of. The Major's best farm. That should concern the Angels today, but until they add money to the business, the Rangers are still a non-factor.

Aroldis Chapman has signed with Kendry Morales' agent Randy Hendricks. Does this make signing Chapman anymore of a reality for the Angels?

MLB Trade Rumors is talking Elias Rankings

6

The 2009 Elias Rankings have been released, and Ed Price of AOL FanHouse has a full list of the Type-A and B free agents. * Chone Figgins qualifies as a Type-A, not a Type-B as projected. * Melvin Mora qualifies as a Type-A, not a Type-B as projected. * Vladimir Guerrero qualifies as a Type-B, not a Type-A as projected. * Gregg Zaun from no compensation to Type-B. * Jerry Hairston Jr. from Type-B to no compensation. * Hideki Matsui from Type-B to no compensation. * Aubrey Huff from Type-B to no compensation. Does this change how we deal with both Figgins and Vlad?

2010 Top 50 Free Agents or so says MLBTraderumors

+
1. Matt Holliday - Mets. The Mets could grab headlines by signing Holliday to a six or seven-year deal for more than $100MM. 2. John Lackey - Yankees. Last winter's strategy of signing the best two starters and the best hitter available contributed to the Yankees' World Series title. With rotation question marks after C.C. Sabathia and A.J. Burnett, it makes sense that the Yanks will pursue the best available starter in Lackey. 3. Jason Bay - Red Sox. It's been rumored the Red Sox are willing to offer four years and $60MM to Bay. That seems to be a fair opening bid, given his defensive struggles. 4. Chone Figgins - Angels. The Angels have internal options at third base, but he'd be hard to let go after a career-high .395 OBP and excellent defense at the hot corner. 5. Randy Wolf - Mets. The Mets regrettably chose Oliver Perez over Wolf a year ago. As the best available starter aside from Lackey, Wolf is primed to get a three-year deal worth more than $30MM. Other notes says Vladimir To the White Sox

With Saunders regaining form, Weaver turning it around, Kazmir pitching well, and Lackey looking great, is it better to use the old 3 man rotation? And who starts and who goes to the bullpen. Or...

For any of you who can put away your Halo Bias, maybe you'd be interested in writing for MLB Trade Rumors. I think it's a great site. But I have no inside information, nor can I hide my Angels love. But for those who can and do, maybe they should check it out. Thanks to by Downing Rules for busting my balls er editing my post.

Does anyone follow the National Wrestling Alliance? They ARE still around. Some people thought the NWA was finished after NWA and TNA ended their business relationship. But they are still around with big territories in California, Maine, Texas, Tennessee, and Georgia, with other territories in the Mid West, Southwest, and the Mid-Atlantic. Arroyo And Harang Clear Waivers

13

Now I'm not entirely sold on Bronson Arroyo, but Aaron Harang is available. I'm not sure what the Reds are looking for, but we were ready to deal S-Rod and Arrendondo with O'Sullivan for Heath Bell. Maybe a deal of S-Rod and Shane Loux for Harang. What do you think?

Who owns the MLB territorial rights to Sin City? This might be a dumb question, but could Arte syndicate Angel programing in another market. I mean I know Arte's broadcasting the Angels in the O.C. and in L.A. But what about Las Vegas, Salt Lake, Tempe, or even south of the boarder Rosarito or Tiajuana. Just thinking there might be more revenue generators out there for our favorite franchise.

Angels General Manager Tony Reagins acknowledged today that he is looking outside the organization for pitching help and has contacted the representatives for free-agent starters such as Pedro Martinez, Paul Byrd and Mark Mulder. If we're contacting guys who are at least 3-4 weeks away from being MLB ready, is it safe to say that the injuries to Escobar, Santana, and Lackey are a little more serious that we were led to believe. I like the idea of a trade for talent today, but it might be safe to sign at least one of these available free agents, just so we aren't caught with our pants down.

Of course, they’ve struggled since losing Adenhart. The only shock would be if they didn’t! It’s not an excuse or a cop out. It’s a fact! I don’t care who you are, or what field you’re in or how badly you want it…you don’t go through that and not have it effect you.

Rome's Take on the Angels in the wake of the loss of Nick Adenhart I know this tragedy has affected our team, maybe even more than we are willing to admit. But before we go all chicken little on our bullpen, our offense, or our team in general... realize that our entire team is hurt. They aren't all on the DL, but certainly everyone has a part of the heart missing. And for the detractors of our bullpen, remember that Adenhart was a team member for most of those guys through out the Angels Farm System.

Dallas McPherson -- Released

Looks like McPherson never panned out for the Marlins. When we finally do take a chance on Wood, will he be more like Glaus or more like McPherson?

A-Rod Might Miss April

7

With A-Rod being on the shelf until April or May, would the Yankees make a good trade partner for the Angels with a move?

Some stuff on Garland

3

Now I've heard several places that Garland may end up. One was the D'Backs and another was the Cardinals. Where could Judy go, where we'd get the best compensation for draft picks?

...Angels Active Roster... I don't know if this was talked about earlier, but it looks like the acitve roster doesn't include Spier or S-Rod. I know you have to go with your best chance to win, but I was always hoping that Spier would re-deem himself in the playoffs and S-Rod had really impressed me this year.
