Patriots Draft GPA

A look at the AFC East Draft GPA  from progridironfootball.com

The Pro Gridiron Football Draft GPA will grade each teams pick and giving it and overall score...Like a report card.  I will look at each player picked, the players available at the pick, the value of the pick, and how the pick will fit with the needs of their team.

Patriots GPA: 2.85 C+

Best 2 picks:  Jarod Mayo, LB Tennessee

                         Terrence Wheatley, CB Colorado

New England added much need linebacker depth and got younger at the position with drafting Mayo, Crable, and Ruud. I would have like to seen them add some depth at the offensive tackle position. Decent draft for New England.

Zorn Likes What He Sees in Thomas

From progridrionfootball.com, reported by mlive.com

Here's what new Redskins head coach Jim Zorn had to say about:-- Thomas still being there at 34th

"I think that was the biggest surprise for us. We were thinking, 'Okay, well we are giving that up to go down and get more choices in the second round,' and then when he was there even in the second round, we got excited about that."

-- What the Redskins like about Thomas

"His speed, his size. I like the fact that he can run after he catches the ball. He averaged 29.1 yards per kickoff return. He had 79 catches in 2007. He is a young player with a lot of upside. He doesn't have injury problems coming out of college. With Devin it is going to be how well he can pick up the offense, a whole different language, but his athleticism is right there and we just need to develop him."

Alexander to the Bengals?

There are rumors that the Bengals are interested in Shaun Alexander.  They are already deep at the running back position, so if they do sign Shaun Alexander the risk would not be high or bad. If he can regain his MVP form, then it would be a good pickup for Cincy and it could come at a bargain price.

Dolphins Draft GPA

A preview of the Miami Dolphins Draft GPA from progridirionfootball.com

Dolphins GPA: 2.67

Best 2 picks: Jake Long, OT Michigan

                        Phillip Merling, DE Clemson

Miami made nice moves on their offensive line and added depth at the running back position. Where Miami failed was to add some playmakers and depth to their struggling secondary, especially at cornerback.

Woodson's Slide

An Preview of the Article "Woodson's Slide"  from Progridironfootball.com

"Woodson was one of college football's most exciting quarterbacks. From the beginning to the end of his senior campaign, you could not go a week without hearing his name being a potential first round draft pick.

All he did was get better every year, break school and NCAA records, and performed in big games when they counted.

Fresh of his impressive bowl game against Florida State, it seemed Woodson was sure first rounder and probably the first or second QB picked in this years draft.

Then came the Senior Bowl."
