What ever happened to the Brooklyn Nets Jerseys that were supposed 2 be revealed in Feb.? Does anyone know what became of that? It's past Valentines (the midway part of the month) and we haven't heard anything about that...

NetsDaily Let's say the Heat win The Finals....

How does this change the landscape of the league? It will prove that Lebron's thoery of needing other superstars works.  How will it affect other superstars like Dwight and Chris Paul? Making it to the finsls could be argued as proof in itself that the theory works, winning is solely up to them.  Does this give the nets a real shot at Dwight Howard? will Chris Paul so how make it too another one of the teams he wants to be on>? I think it does.  Melo didn't even wait a year to see if this theory even worked before forcing himself out of Denver. Next year (whether we like it or not) The knicks might be doing the same thing, maybe even  more then what the Heat are doing.  This is the Superstar Era, the traditional teams left int he league really arn't going to stand a chance.  Post your thoughts on this, I wanna c what people think.  Am i right? Am i wrong? Am i missing something? Does Dallas disprove my thoery? TA;LK TO ME PEOPLE!!!

NetsDaily The Great Point Guard Debate part III

It's unbelievable. It's surreal. It's epic, majestic, earth shattering, enlightening and a whole bunch of other words that i cannot even begin to think of.   Deron Williams, in stunning fashion, has some how landed on the Newark.  He is without question one of the best (if not the best) PG in the league and already, before he even dons a net jersey, comparisons to Jason Kidd are already being made.  Just how good in Deron Williams? Jason Kidd took the 17 win nets to the finals in one year. and then, as if to outdue himself, he did it again.  I doubt we will be getting to the finals this or next year, but if deron williams is half as good as kidd then this franchise is about to lifted out of the basement.  All we need to do is put a team around deron and make it competive,  But just how good is deron williams? I want opinions and lots of arguements.  I want analysis and comments.  The more outlandish, the better. And to start this fanpost off the right way, i'm going to say this: Deron Williams has the potential to be the greatest PG to ever wear a nets uniform.

NetsDaily What Melo Wants

Bringing in Harrington and Anthony will give this team a tremendous boost, but with Anthony saying the only way he signs an extension with the team if they bring in other players, our front office is going to have to be very careful in who they ultimately decide will best fit this team and turn us into contenders.  Below are very possible options, some alot better then others, but realistic trade senarios that i hope our front office explores.

Andre Miller & Marcus Camby

Even though they may not be the flashy names ones would expect to hear in a 'blockbuster trade' , they directly fullfill two needs this team has; Efficiency at the PG and rebounding with solid defense.  Only downside on this trade would be the fact that Camby and MIller both are in the twlight of their careers.  This would just be a quick fix, something to keep Anthony comfortable with signing the extension.

Rip Hamilton & Tayshaun Prince

We obviously know these two have championship exprience, they can both score and defend with the best of them.  Prince is one of the most versatile forwards in the league and Hamilton, in my opinion, it the best off ball player in the league.  There is no reason why they, with melo, wouldn't be more then enough to compete in the eastern conference.

Jamal Crawford & Jordan Crawford/Marvin Williams

Jamal is one of the best combo guards in the league.  He has an uncanny ability to score and has seemingly fixed his biggest problem; shot selection.  Jordan Crawford could flat out score, we've seen that in college last year.  And Marvin Williams is as efficient as they come.  I think this would give our team alot of of offense, Harrington and Melo along with Jamal and Brook would be a match made in heaven.

Chris Paul & Emeka Okafor

I shouldn't have to explain why this move would make us instant contenders in the east.  I shouldn't have to tell anyone that pairing one of the best PG's in the league with one of the best scorers in the league will NEVER go wrong.  I shouldn't have to explain that with the coaching staff we have and a billionaire owner, sustaining a team like this will be unbelivably easy.  Chris Paul and Melo on the same team with Harrington and Lopez means the skies the limit.

Comments and suggestions? (Please, this fanpost is for rational fans only)

NetsDaily What about iggy?

I think we should really try and run for Andre Iguodola, i think he'll be perfect for the nets. Nets mamnagement needs to stop dreaming bout melo and start thinking more realistically. The nets struggle to score because they dont have an aggresive enough wing to put pressure on the defense.  Avery's iso motion needs a dominant perimeter scorer, someone who can take over games. I'm not so sold on Melo simply because, like the saying goes, 'the way you meet em is the way you lose em'. Denver is a good team, he doesn't have a real reason why he should leave. It makes much more sense to stay on the team and see where it goes... But of course in the wake of the post-decision era, maybe this is the risk your going to have to take to have a super star player on your team. Getting iggy means keeping favors and lopez in the same front court.  Thoughts and Ideas?

NetsDaily The Great Point Guard Debate Part II

For reasons that i cannot begin to understand, alot of people seem to not realize just how good Chris Paul is or acknowlegde him as the best PG in league for that matter. I've read alot of nonsense, and alot of people seem to think Rajon Rondo is better then this guy, which is ridicolous. These are the numbers.

Listed Below Are Chris Paul's Statistics Over the Course of his Entire NBA Career

As anyone with eyes can clearly see, there stats arn't even close. I could even go a step further and say, that from this point on, there shouldn't even be a doubt in your mind that Chris Paul and Rajon Rondo arn't even close. Now below this are Deron Williams Stats, a PG you can compare to chris paul.

 2005-06 UTA 80 28:48  4.2 10.1 42.1   1.1 2.7 41.6   1.2 1.7 70.4   0.4 2.0 2.4   4.5 1.8 0.8 0.2 2.9 10.8

 2008-09 UTA 68 36:47  6.8 14.5 47.1   1.0 3.3 31.0   4.8 5.7 84.9   0.4 2.5 2.9   10.7 3.4 1.1 0.3 2.0 19.4
 2009-10 UTA 76 36:53  6.5 13.9 46.9   1.3 3.4 37.1   4.4 5.5 80.1   0.7 3.3 4.0   10.5 3.3 1.3 0.2 2.7 18.7
 Career 386 35:17  6.1 13.1 46.7   1.1 3.0 36.1   3.4 4.3 79.9   0.5 2.6 3.1   9.0 3.0 1.0 0.2 2.7 16.7

Now even though his stats are waaaaaaaaaay better then Rajon Rondo's, it's still not better then Chris Paul. Matter fact according the stats, Chris Paul's Injured year (last year) was just as good as any one of Deron Williams years.

I can go on and on comparing him to other PG's, but i wanted to point out the fact that Rajon Rondo is a good PG, but no where does he belong in a conversation with Chris Paul or Deron Williams.

The only PG to rival Chris Paul is Deron Williams, and even then you'd have to the egde to Paul. He is the best defensive PG in the league (average 2.7 and 2.8 steals a game in consecutive years) and he is the perfect balance to scoring and passing. Also has the best assist to turnover ratio in the league (for some reason i cant find the stat to put on here). So when talking about the best PG in the league, please keep Rajon Rondo out of the conversation.

NetsDaily The Great Point Guard Debate

With the addition of Coach Avery Johnson, Devin Harris is in a prime position to have his best years ahead of him. Now depsite what he has done (and no disrespect to Coach Frank) Harris hasn't had a stand out coach who could groom him and allow him to grow as an all star. Even Coach Avery Johnson pointed out that while he did coach Harris in Dallas, he was coaching a young Harris not an All star Harris. Now things have changed and after reading this assessment, i hope i can re-affirm some belief in our PG.

The Rundown

The top five PG's in the league are becoming blurred. After the emergence of Rondo, i cannot effective put them in any kind of order. Chris Paul was injured and so was Tony Parker, so it would be unfair to say Rondo is better then either of them. Deron Williams had a great postseason, but his team is not playing for the title. So i'm just going to name them in no particular order (yall can have fun debating who's better then who)

1.) Chris Paul

2.) Deron Williams

3.) Tony Parker

4.) Rajon Rondo

5.) Steve Nash

These five are the best players at there position in no particular order. One thing they all have in common is a strong coach, a coach how has groomed them into the players they are today. All three of these players have the talent and oppurtunity but what is often overlooked is the system. each system allows for these players to thrive at what they do. And that can only be credited to the coach.

The Theory

Devin Harris has proved he can on this level of point guard. In his first all star year, devin harris lead all PG's in scoring and also averaged 7 assist and 2 steals (estimates).  And this was in coach franks dribble drive system. Now Harris has a big name coach, a coach that understands he is now the star of his team and will thrive if given the correct personel. During his All star year, Harris was rated top five in point guards and everyone had there two cents on the trade that sent him to jersey. I believe that under Avery Johnson, Harris can return to this level of skill and ultimately his all star form.  I think Rod Thorn realizes he has a diamond in the rough in Harris and he knows that anything short of Chris Paul will not pry Harris from his team. Harris is still 27 so he still has upside and bringing in AJ assures that he will reach it.

Look at harris numbers when he had a team (well the best he had in jersey around him) The year highlighted in bold is the one i want you to focus on.

This is just a testament to how Devin Harris really is. The fact that he did this without a grooming coach tells me this was solely off pure talent, and not really any solid direction. Given the right coach, Devin Harris can be a top PG talent in the NBA consistently.

The Debate

This is where i need opinions. I want everyone to chime in on this one. My theory is, Devin Harris can ultimately be one of the best PG in the league given the right coach. he's proven he has the talent for it, and even in his tumultous 12 win year, he still showed flashes of greatness. I purposely disregarded last year because Harris was never fuly healthy then, so it would be a bit unfair to judge the extent of his talent off that. But i want people to find fault in my argument. I want people to disprove my theory. Because, if they can't, then i know i'm right. If not, then i'm an awfully big dreamer lol.

NetsDaily Nets are Making the Right Moves...Despite what some seem to think

Alot of people seem to be upset with the recent choice for head coach and a few others still don't understand why Favors would be a better fit for the Nets then Cousins.  I don't know why anyone could possible be mad at that, but i think that people are not understanding the direction the Nets are headed in. I keep seeing these absurd "dream" line-ups and unwarranted bashing of pretty much everyone the Nets spotlight falls on. This mindset of "no one being good enough" is crazy.

Coaching

Coach Avery Johnson happens to have the highest winning percentage in NBA coaching history. No other first year coach has come close to this success. Everyone likes to refer to the playoffs when he was out coached by legends Pat Riley and Don Nelson. Don Nelson and Pat Riley can outcoach ANYONE. They are all time greats who have forever left there mark in the NBA. Avery was just a first year coach. I thnk it's safe to say he was simply a victim of circumstance and hopefully his tenure here with the Nets will prove that. Also, any coach how end ups coaching against his mentor NEVER comes out on top.  Even to this day, Mike D'antoni can still outcoach the Alvin Gentry and if i'm not mistaken, he even swept the season series with them.

Draft Picks

Derrick Favors is the man to draft this year.  I've been doing so much research on this draft (i almost feel like Rod Thorn) and I can tell you right now, Rod Thorn feels the exact same way i do. At this point in, Rod Thorn isn't looking for that mega front court talent because he already has it. Instead he is looking for a player who could compliment Lopez and make make working inside alot easier. And that also entails a finisher before a low post scorer.  If only makes sense, when healthy, devin harris averaged seven assist.  Even though he has more of a scorers mindset, Harris can still get the ball to finishers. Only he would need to finishers around him to do that. The only two players last year who could finish around the rim was lopez and williams, and often times we found turning Lopez into that kind of player took away from his game because he couldn't establish down low. Put a finisher at the four, thats where most of the attention turns. Plus favors is capable of hitting a decent mid range shot which streches the defense and allows Lopez to work inside.  Drafting Cousins takes both of those options away. Cousins is a player in the mold of Lopez and is more of a center in then a powerforward anyway. Having two low post scorers crowds the paint, taking away the space for to operate in the low post. So drafting cousins pretty much assures that they won't be able to play together nor will either be productive.

Free Agency

There has been a whole lot of nonsense ever since Lebron James got the boot in the playoffs. Suddenly, out of no where, the Chicago Bulls emerge as front runners and completely eclipses the New Jersey Nets and the New York Knicks. Now everyone one is entitled to there opinion and since there are no definite facts or stats that can support any theory refering to free agency, it's safe to say anything goes. With that being said, i don't even think that covers or justifies some the stupidity i've heard.  In this upcoming free agent summit, as much as people dont want to admit it, the only two teams everyone is looking at is the Knicks or Nets. Both teams have the best oppurtunity and both teams have the biggest market in basketball.  From there it becomes and argument. right after them it's the Heat then after them is the Bulls. I don't even have to be in the room to know thats how the conversation will go. If Lebron leaves, he will end up either on the Nets or the Knicks. The two teams will ultimately end up getting into a bidding war for the best player on the planet.  As for the rest of the free agents, who knows. But i'll leave you with this, my staring fives if we get Lebron and what it looks like if we dont get Lebron

With Lebron

Harris

Williams

James

Stoudimire

Lopez

Without Lebron

Harris

Johnson

WIlliams

Lee

Lopez
