Quoting Anonymous Scouts

I'm not particularly good at these short blurbs, so here we go.  I was reading Metsblog when I stumbled across a reference to a Joel Sherman article in which an anonymous scout was quoted as saying "The Mets minor league talent is way under the talent base of the Phillies, Braves and Marlins."

I also recall Adam Rubin, as part of his duties with baseball america, discussing Famiglia and using the quote of one anonymous scout in order to discount Famiglia's development.

Here are my questions:

1) Do you think that the Mets minor league talent is "way under the talent base of the Phillies, Braves, and Marlins?"

2) Do you have any thoughts on quoting of anonymous scouts for articles to prove or disprove your point?

Spring Training on the cheap

A friend of mine is interested in going to watch some spring training games in Florida this year, but doesn't want to spend a lot of money. She has a particular interest in going to Port St. Lucie (Mets fan). Does anyone have any tips for saving money or getting good value for a visit?

Any help would be appreciated. Have I reached seventy five words yet or do I need to keep adding more extraneous words?

Smoak or Alvarez

I'm sure that this has popped up in some other fanpost. I'm in a keeper league right now, with 6 minor league (4 year contracts), and 5 major league contracts (3 2 year, 2 3 year). On the minor league side I have Evan Longoria at third (drafted two years ago), Jay Bruce, Cameron Maybin, Jason Heyward, and Mike Moustakas...no one under contract who plays first. The league has extra spots beyond the standard starting 8, including 2 for DH.

I have the first overall pick in the minor league draft this year, and based on who is already under contract I'd like to pick either Smoak or Alvarez. The factors that I'm looking at include speed of rise to the major league level (I'll likely peak next year), actual numbers, etc. The offensive categories include BA, OBP, R, RBI, HR, SB, and TB.

Any suggestions on who I should pick?
