It was one of the loudest crowds that I've played in front of in the postseason," said Bryant, who passed Jerry West for the Lakers' all-time playoff scoring record, finishing Thursday with 4,465 points. "At the end of the third quarter, it was like the barn in Sacramento. It was really loud.
A great example from last year's draft that I blew at the time: Memphis' Tyreke Evans could get to any spot he wanted. This was obvious in college, and it's painfully obvious now. I got caught up in dueling issues with him -- "Is he a point guard or a shooting guard?" and "Why was he the driver in the getaway car of a shooting? -- and missed the basic reality of the Tyreke Evans Era. Namely, that none of the other crap mattered. The dude gets to the rim whenever he wants. I am still kicking myself.

[Evans is] still overshadowed a bit by Jennings' scintillating start, but that performance looks to be a bit of an outlier based on unsustainable shooting numbers. Evans' play, in contrast, seems to be the real deal. He's a distant second in the hype war, but in this two-horse Rookie of the Year race, I have him ahead by a few lengths at the quarter pole.
The Kings will take a .500 record into December. We repeat: Sacramento is a .500 team despite losing Kevin Martin to a wrist injury. Apologies to anyone else worth nominating, this is your Surprise Team of November.
Brandon Jennings was shut out in the first quarter. Then he went to work and wiped out a record held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
The View from in Front of My Father-In-Law's HD Television

Living down here in sunny Southern California, my opportunities to watch our beloved Kings are understandably limited. As the team has entered a full rebuilding mode, national coverage has become practically nonexistant and I'm restricted to the odd televised Lakers or Clippers matchup to get my fix. So you can understand how happy I was to learn that last night's preseason game against the Lakers in Las Vegas would be shown locally. So happy, in fact, that I decided to try and take notes with the idea of sharing them with everyone here at StR. Check out my thoughts and impressions after the jump.

Jason Thompson: I mocked him on draft day and he shoved it in my face like a cream pie. Top-notch energy guy, good defender, lots to like.
Aaaaaaah! Is it over yet? I need to disconnect the internet and do some work.
Richard Jefferson Traded for Yi Jianlian and Bobby Simmons
According to Chad Ford:
The Bucks and Nets have also done a deal that could have a big impact on the draft
The Bucks are sending Yi Jianlian and Bobby Simmons to New Jersey for Richard Jefferson, according to ESPN.com's Marc Stein.
That means the Bucks may be less likely to take Joe Alexander at No. 8. He's a small forward like Jefferson and they may decide to go with a guard now -- either Russell Westbrook or Jerryd Bayless.
The Nets have the No. 10 and No. 21 picks. It's unclear how this will affect their draft picks. We'll keep digging.
If the Bucks are now in the market for a point guard, it may negate any advantage we gained when Indiana acquired T.J. Ford.
TZ vs Peaches Continued
I was struck, as I always am, by Grant Napear's outlandish evaluation of his own importance and his total dismissal of the ability of a fan to understand the team or the game in general. I can't recall his ever providing me with statistical information that I was incapable of finding and judging for myself and whatever newsworthy items his access to the team might provide him are overshadowed by his negative and condescending attitude. It's too bad he doesn't read blogs though because, in the interest of of total irrelevancy, I decided to let the internet decide who was more worthy of our adoration.

Looks as if Peaches still has quite a way to go before he reaches TZ's level of distribution.

Under 25 Dream Team
So, as I do every once in a while, I decided to put together my personal Dream Team. I usually build them with a particular feature in mind (top two PER rankings at each position, etc.). The theme for this team was "under 25."
I looked for a few other characteristics like players whose personalities might be willing to sacrifice some of the glory of their individual talent for team success. Consistency, injury liability, and an ability to contribute in multiple ways on a given night were also considerations.
So without further ado, here we go...
