Top 10 Worst Baseball Cards Ever
"You don’t have to like baseball to appreciate the awfulness that is… the top 10 worst baseball cards of all time!"
NY Times - Blue Jays’ Morrow Is Trying to Channel the Ace Within
The best power pitcher in the league also has a spot in the clubhouse, but no such fanfare surrounds Brandon Morrow. He struck out 10.188 hitters per nine innings last season — a better rate than that of Justin Verlander, C. C. Sabathia, Felix Hernandez and every other starter in the league. The figure strongly suggests a breakout coming for Morrow, who could be the pitching equivalent of Bautista: a high-impact talent at a reasonable price who took time to become a star.
NY Times - Judge Deals a Financial Blow to Mets Owners
A federal judge in Manhattan on Monday cleared the way for a jury trial on March 19 that could put the owners of the Mets on the hook for hundreds of million of dollars.
How many extra pitches are required for ten defensive runs allowed?
For example, if Travis Snider was 10 runs better than Eric Thames defensively this year what would the effect on the bullpen be? Would the number of extra pitches be negligible or would it be a valid concern if you are choosing one player over the other?
My guess would be that to allow an extra 10 runs a team would have to throw at least 100 extra pitches or perhaps an equivalent of around 7 extra innings. That is just a guess though and I’m curious is someone out there can quantify the number more precisely.

NY Times - Puerto Rico Traces Baseball’s Slide to the Draft

Blue Jays Rumors: Fielder Interested, Yu Darvish
"First baseman and possible DH if he lands in the AL Prince Fielder has narrowed down his teams to three according to reports, with the three teams being the Toronto Blue Jays, the Texas Rangers, and his old team, the Milwaukee Brewers."
Of course, we are rumored to be signing everyone, so it might not have much significance.
How the New Updates to the Competitive Balance Lottery will Affect the Blue Jays
From JaysProspects.com:
"Let’s look at Casey Janssen and Carlos Villanueva as examples. Both are in the final year of their contract and will not garner any kind of compensation once they leave in free agency. However, if teams engaged in playoff races may require relievers for their playoff run and may be obliged to give up their draft pick to obtain a Janssen or Villanueva. "

The Hardball Times - Offseason Decisions: How far off are the Jays?
"Between Jose Bautista, Brett Lawrie, Ricky Romero, etc., Toronto is not without building blocks, but they are far from having a rival empire. With Alex Anthopoulos at the helm and John Farrell in the dugout, the team certainly appears to have the right braintrust. Now it's simply a matter of filling in the gaps and picking up the wins.
Let's look at some of those gaps and what the team can do to fill them."
