Tom Hicks Jr. stays classy
sending an obscene email to a fan which read,
"Blow me, ----face. Go to hell. I'm sick of you"
Hicks Jr offered his resignation shortly after 6pm on Saturday but it could not be accepted formally until the full board had had the chance to convene, with a series of transatlantic phone calls made in the subsequent 24 hours. After his resignation was confirmed yesterday morning, Hicks Jr attempted to apologise, telling of his respect for Liverpool fans, a respect that had been conspicuous only by its absence when he sent an e-mail to Stephen Horner telling him to "Blow me, f***face" 48 hours earlier.
Just before 4am on Saturday in Texas (10am in England), where Hicks and his father, Tom, are based, Hicks sent an obscene, expletive-strewn second message, ending: "Go to hell. I’m sick of you."
as Buford T. Justice once said: "There's no way, *no* way that you came from *my* loins. Soon as I get home, first thing I'm gonna do is punch yo mamma in da mouth!" Stay classy Hicks's's'ssss at least you wont be the Rangers problem much longer... *ignores that he is still the 2nd most invested owner in new ownership group*

ps: i was gonna name this fanpost the quote, "blow me f***face!" but i didnt think it was AJM approved, which says a bit.

He's Good Enough, He's Smart enough, and Gosh Darn It! More people voted for him
ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered that Democrat Al Franken be certified as the winner of the state's long-running Senate race.
The high court rejected a legal challenge from Republican Norm Coleman, whose options for regaining the Senate seat are dwindling. Justices said Franken is entitled to the election certificate he needs to assume office.
Weird to think that Franken is a senator and this process was a complete disaster with how close the election was and the process that potentially lead to the supreme court. Norm Coleman has now lost to a Pro Wrestler in Ventura and a SNL jokester in Franken.
A few things of note:
1) that makes 60, which means that theres gonna be a lot of pressure on the Dems to unify and agree (stuff that never happens) and push through their agenda without spending the whole term pandering to haters outside thier party, they gotta whip the haters inside their party into shape and pass some bills that can be put into laws.
2)Franken if you read Rush Limbaugh is a big Fat Idiot and Lies and the Lying Liars is super lefty. which for this congresses purposes is good b/c one more blue dog democrat doesnt help this nations people change anything, which is what people voted for obama for, change.
3) this puts pressure on the blue dogs to prove that they are democrats and repay the parties loyalty for funding their campaign. the thought of the number 60 should put pressure on this group of 9, forcing them to join with other party members regardless of campaign contributions from which PAC and get down to law makin or risk the party's long term wrath, which always costs a member his seat over time.
4)Dems havent had 60 votes since the 70's, not that that decade is particularly great, but it is of note.
if this sucks or is too OT, ill delete, figured it was interesting dynamic in politics that occurred today though and may draw some interest.

Further Reports on the Tom Hicks Over-Leveraged Saga
Liverpool fans are fearing the worst following the announcement that despite a record turnover, the Anfield club's net debt has nearly doubled to £86million. Auditors have warned George Gillett and Tom Hicks that failure to refinance a £350million loan - due on July 24 - "may cast significant doubt upon the group's ability to continue as a going concern".
Anfield anquish Duo's US assets can be used to ease Reds' debt
The main reason the banks might agree to a repayment extension would be to give the US duo more time to raise money from selling other assets that they own in the US. The banks may also hope that there will soon be new investment in the club - either in the form of an outright takeover, or by someone coming in to purchase a minority share.
Final whistle for Liverpool's loans?
Lastly, here is a video from Sky Sports Reports on Hicks Finances
i thought this was pretty cool, and some of the little stats are kinda crazy.
i kow no1 watches these, but its kinda neat.

Tom Hicks: How Not To Win Friends And Influence People (part II)
Tom Hicks chat was more offensive than charming APR 19 2008 BY TONY BARRETT, LIVERPOOL ECHO * CATCH up with the all the latest comment from star columnists, journalists and fans on our new site, LFC Banter THOSE who studied GCSE history may be aware of President Frankli n D Roosevelt’s fireside chats. A staple in American homes from 1933-45, Roosevelt would conduct radio interviews in a homely setting to give the impression that although he was a politician he was also a human being and a family man who could be trusted to do right thing by the public even during the most testing of times. On Thursday, Tom Hicks tried to reawaken the spirit of FDR when he did his very own fireside chat for the benefit of Liverpool’s long suffering fans. It needs only a glance at the myriad of Reds related forums and websites to discover that Hicks’ efforts failed – and miserably at that. From the stage managed props – including an LFC cup which was so untouched it looked like it had been delivered from the club shop that very day – to the Liverpool gear that Hicks donned in every shot, the whole set up could not have been more forced had Hicks had the cast of Carousel singing You’ll Never Walk Alone in the background. There was even a pot shot at Everton from the star of the show just to make sure no-one was left in any doubt that the gallery was being played to with all the gusto of a politician wanting to prove he really is a nice family man after all, just days after being caught in a compromising position on Hampstead Heath. "My family loves Liverpool," said Hicks, in front of a couple of teenagers who tried but failed not to look incredibly bored as they watched daddy’s UK franchise beating Rovers of Blackburn on a TV so big it made the Anfield pitch look lifesize. If this was a charm offensive then it seems hardly anyone was charmed but almost everyone was offended. Trying too hard is never going to be an impressive sight and whoever was the brains behind this misguided operation missed the mark by quite some distance. And it no doubt left DIC – whom Hicks derided as "masters of spin" – rubbing their hands in glee at the biggest own goal since Djimi Traore’s muddled dancing feet knocked Liverpool out of the FA Cup. If Hicks really wants to win the Liverpool fans over he could start by acting like someone who has the best interests of the club at heart because that is something which has been conspicuous only by its absence ever since he took ownership of the club alongside George Gillett. Pledges which he made on his opening day in control have not been kept and the Texan has washed more dirty linen in public than anyone in his position should ever do. That is why the majority of Liverpool’s fans are still of the opinion that it is Hicks and not Rick Parry who is the biggest problem at the club, even though many of them feel that time should be called on the chief executive’s time at the club also. And seeing as Hicks is so taken by the influence of FDR, maybe he should consider one of the wartime president’s most telling quotes. "Confidence," he opined, "thrives on honesty, on honour, on the sacredness of obligations, on faithful protection and on unselfish performance. Without them it cannot live." There is precious little confidence in Hicks at Anfield at the moment. The time has come for him to ask himself why – not blame others.source: http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-fc/liverpool-fc-news/2008/04/19/tom-hicks-chat-was-more-offensive-than-charming-100252-20785975 Tracking Tom Hicks, he had another PR debacle, Saturday for his Scouser Propaganda Campaign. His efforts to appease our comrades and poor fellows who support a different Hicks owned club are always interesting to keep track of. One thing is certain, the rangers are certainly not 1st priority in his sports ownership world. i think thats a very good thing, he did the same thing here, only no1 cared.
Ugliest Tom Hicks Pic ever
(plus he's wearing every1's favorite angels, i mean ranger red hat)
btw, it looks like if your fans organize and unify their demands he responds with personal email responses (any1? any1? bueler? bueler? ........ bueler? connection? 2 +2 = 4?)

ps: if any1 knows how to put images on the diaries, by all means. im not that diary savvy.
Dont forget to vote!!
i dont care who you vote for, but lack of political involvement is how we've gotten where we are in this country. Your boss has to give you time to vote. take off early and go vote. vote republican or vote democrat i couldnt care less. just show that texas' say in the political process cannot be silenced.
Attention Hicks Family: these arent Rangers fans (greatness)
Ok so im a footie guy, and a Liverpool supporter and was way before Tom Hicks bought the club and immediately called them a "franchise" (good call heh). Anyway Lil' Tom decided he was gonna stop by a pub after the game and get the true feelings from the fans. He chose Sandon, where the most extreme hooligans i mean fans gather before and after LFC matches. Its the birthplace of LFC and well, lets just say it isnt RBiA.
anyway read the whole story, its gottan be the greatest Hicks Moment in History. 7 would be proud. It also makes me wish we had fans like that. They dont take crap from no1.
"All of a sudden, his smile was replaced by a grimace of concern.
And as the volume was cranked up still further by the swollen crowd, Tommy's facial expression quickly changed.
It appeared to say "Get Me Out Of Here" to his bodyguards.
At least his desire to evacuate showed he had something in common with the fans who, by that stage, had adapted one of their favourite protest songs to inform him, not too politely, that the "lying b****d" should get out of their pub."
"At best, it was a well meaning attempt to build some bridges on Hicks junior's part.
At worst, it was yet another failure to understand English football culture and proof of the failure of Liverpool's owners to grasp just how unpopular they have become."
Signed and Broken and a Contender?
Jenning: Surgery in August on torn elbow ligament. No way he is ready for ST. takes a year to recover at least.
Fukumori: Hurt last season, recovering from injury. old. unproven.
Milton Bradley: Torn ACL in August or September. 10 months to recover, 1 year to fully recover.
What the hell is going on? The rangers dont actually think these guys will be difference makers?
When do u guys think Bradley and Jennings are 100%? it wont be this season. Why sign these guys if we arent contending and they wont be healthy for the season. I'll give Fukumori the benefit of the doubt, but Jenning and Bradley? there is no way on earth those guys can be 100% this season.
what is the purpose?
OT: One less Redskins DB to worry about.
seems shawn taylor got blasted last night, i know you guys are wondering how such a class act could have this come up. I truly hope for the best with the guy, i hope he makes it, he is in critical care and lost a ton of blood
http://www.local10.com/news/14692782/detail.html
cowboys know the feeling though, we have a safety who i like but he kept getting shot, so we had to replace him with a safety who got stabbed.
anyway, one less redskin secondary guy to worry about. hope he lives and can carry on a full life.
LoneStar Ball = Barajas
PopUps are Out of Control
ESPN fantasy Football goes giant takes up a 3rd of the page slows down the whole page, i know its not AJM's fault, but your SB Nation guys need to cool their jets on the selling.

Micheal Main 8/20

looks like main totally dominated. nice to see him adjusting and succeeding at the next level. with a bit of success and luck that puts him on schedule for a full season or slightly less of high A next season. AA and a bit of AAA in '09. Im getting ahead of myself, but the kid is impressive. also thinking about main in high A next season and beaven in AZL is frustrating. i'd say beaven set himself up for a full season behind main in the long run. disappointing considering he was bragging about the majors in 3 seasons. not a beaven rap, i like the kid more than most. but to think we can see main in high A next season possibly, while Beaven is in SS A ball makes me realize how big the signing quickly factor is. If main keeps it up we're looking at 3 years, 4 tops till he fighting for a spot.
awesome!
9/1 k/bb very nice. lone run was a solo bomb.
The guy has a "Salty" tattoo.
"The guy has a freakin' tattoo that says "Salty" "
per Atlanta fans.

A tale of 2 franchises and one owner
I found this topic on a liverpool website discussing the tom hicks ownership strategy and history. It has interesting dialogue b/t what i assume is a newbergian deciple perhaps and the scousers across the pond. maybe you guys have some good insight into what these fans have to watch for or have something to contribute. I thought it was a good discussion and made me realize how little the liverpool supporters know about our fantastic owner.
id love to see those more familiar with Hicks hop in and take part. Tom Hicks worst nightmare is Texas Rangers and Stars fans educating the Liverpool fans on Hicks.
Keeping an eye on Miguel Velazquez in AZL
Miguel Velazquez
Born: 05/15/1988
.333 .391 .474
he strikes out a bunch, 24so's vs. 6bb's
26 hits in 20 games.
u guys know anything about this guy. 6'2'' 205lbs tells me hes big, no sign of power really in the 1st 20 games with 2 HR's and 5 2b's but any1 know anything about his arm or range or defensive attributes? they have him in RF.
anyway i hadnt seen anybody mention him and he pops out like a sore thumb if u look at the AZL rangers stats.
The new Startle-gram Design?
I was just curious if every1 else has been as disappointed with the overhaul of the Fort Worth Star Telegram as I have been. The list of changes is numerous and most of them make the paper worse. I've talked to others who said the paper now feels like a web page that u cant close the pop ups on. But this change just baffles me. Today i read the front page and they had a story on the front page, these used to be a couple paragraphs and then lead to the main story on a different page. today their was a story that was around 2 sentences before the lead to a different page. The business page is now the "Money and Effort" page or something to that extent. The editorial section has removed any letters that were of national significance (read: no war discussions, no corruption scandal commentary) and added 2 comics to it. one of which looks like i could scratch out in 2 minutes but has a republican slant to the left leaning doonesbury. I cant find the stories anymore and i cant imagine that they need as many writers and journalists as they needed before the design change. Did i mention the sports section page 2 doesnt have the broadcast schedule for the days games anymore? Im in design and advertising and it is dumbfounding. The font was changed from classic "times" font that made u feel like you were reading a newspaper to a new trendy font, the photographs are huge, but they arent good photographs and certainly dont deserve the attention they get.
Am i the only one ending my subscription and in just total shock and disappointment to what that paper has become.
