The Duke reportedly has 3 contract offers and will choose one soon. Any chance one of them is from the Brewers? Probably not but I can wish...

Brew Crew Ball All in on Low Risk/High Reward Guys

Heres a thought. what if the Brewers maximize their limited dollars for starting pitching by signing as many reclamation projects as possible with hopes that at least 3 of them pan out. there are a lot our there this year:

Mulder

Sheets

Duscherer

Bedard

Noah Lowry

Kelvim Escobar

(maybe Rich Harden)

Not to mention that Capuano will still be trying to get back to the bigs.

If we can sign all those guys to incentive laden deals, guaranteeing between $1 and $5 each depending on their reputation and allowing them to earn up to $9 million. I think the brewers might be able to get all six of these guys, what do you think.

a couple other names I like but that aren't in this category are Pavano, Padilla and Penny, but my ideal situation would be for us to trade for Vasquez.

Brew Crew Ball Other pitchers that we might look at

In Haudricourts article in the JS this morning he mentions Royals pitcher Brian Bannister as another trade option.  Another intriguing arm that might be available is Aaron Harang, as the Reds are fading fast.  A's pitcher Justin Duchscherer is another name thats been mentioned, but hes still on the IR so is an unknown commodity.  Bannister and Duchscherer are stud pitchers and Harang is a true workhorse who would really save the bullpen.  With the Braves playing well it looks like Vasquez is no longer available.  Anyone else of note you guys have thought of?

Brew Crew Ball Thinking About Pitching

There have been some new rumblings of late of pitcher that may need a change of scenery.  The Tigers may be looking to trade Nate Robertson or Zach Minor.  The Cubs are looking to unload Rich Hill.  Can anyone think of any other clubs who have an excess of starting pitching, like the Brewers did last year, and will be looking to unloaod some excess in minor trades or end up realeasing them in training camp?  Might some of these names be the kind of guys Melvin is keeping his eyes out for to shore up the rotation?
