The syracuse.com post about the student section in the dome got me thinking.

What is beneath the dome? Using the Yale/Rose bowl stadiums as inspiration, would it be possible to excavate beneath the basketball court and lower it? There are, what, 10ish rows of chairs behind the basket? Have a 10 row section surround the court on all sides (meaning the curtain side moves closer to the center of the field) then step those seats into the ground. These 10 rows that completely surround the court would be temp seating that descend down towards the court, and best part is that these would ALL be student seating. Everyone who has season tickets would actually keep their same seats (albeit further from the court). The basketball court would be permanently in the ground, with a removable covering that the football turf would go over.

Am I missing anything? Why can't that work?

St. John's defensive lineman Kevin McReynolds is taking an unexpected weekend off from the recruiting trail.

McReynolds, who missed half of this past season because of a sprained ankle, had planned to visit Oregon this weekend. The Ducks, though, wanted him to change the trip next weekend, when McReynolds plans to visit Mississippi State.

McReynolds said Friday that Oregon now is no longer under consideration. He has taken official visits to UCLA and Syracuse and also plans to visit Kansas State over the final weekend of the month before reaching his decision. He plans to make his choice on Feb. 2, the first day high school seniors can sign a National Letter-of-Intent.

McReynolds said he is still considering Maryland, but has yet to speak with new coach Randy Edsall.

"It's a school I've been to a million times and I feel like I know a lot about Maryland but now they have a new coach," McReynolds said. "It's in the back of my mind and makes me want to go up there and visit."

McReynolds, Gonzaga All-Met quarterback Kevin Hogan and DeMatha All-Met offensive lineman Cyrus Kouandjio all will play in the Team USA vs. The World all-star game in Austin, Texas, on Feb. 2.

So I admit I'm a little worked up over this, but I hate being lied to and then silenced.

The Pinstripe Bowl's facebook page posted a photo of the Empire State building lit up in Syracuse and Kansas State colors. I didn't notice at first, but someone else pointed out that the photo looked doctored. The more I looked at it, the more I thought he was right.

After some posts on the comment thread (civilized) they deleted my comment. Pffft!

Then I decided to search the internet, and found this photo of the ESB lit up for the subway series. Anyway, you be the judge.

As a very amateur photographer, it just annoys me that they can't pay or offer some Pinstripe tickets for rights to some freakin' photos. Seriously? I went to the volunteer orientation, and they mentioned that they envision it becoming a BCS bowl. Good luck with that if you can't even send someone on staff to take a free picture of a building.

Disclaimer: it is possible someone else posted this photo, and they just picked it up thinking it was real (doubtful though).

How can they not be showing this? Rubbish.

I follow the possible conference expansion rumors pretty closely, and the idea of mega conferences is picking up steam. I'm not claiming it'll happen, but ...

If it came down to choosing, would you rather Syracuse join the Big 10 or the ACC? As a football guy, I'd prefer Big 10. Plus, SU always felt kind of midwest-ish to me.

And since I need to write more to post this, who/what would you be the most sad to see gone?
