I've been a Rockies fan since the beginning. I started writing for Purple Row in February 2009 and I haven't looked back from there, assuming the position of managing editor of the site in October 2012. During this time, Purple Row has grown into the best independent fan community for Rockies news and analysis with a great staff of writers and an even better community.

I've enjoyed my occasional experiences covering the Rockies from the press box, being a subject matter expert on local radio broadcasts, and getting referenced by the likes of the Denver Post, Yahoo! Sports, and Bill Simmons. I'm a strong believer in common sense and generally view baseball through a dispassionate lens.

Jon Gray is the top PuRP for Winter 2013

Jon Gray, Colorado's first round pick in this year's draft, headed the Winter 2013 Purple Row Prospects list, the Purple Row community's list of the top 30 Rockies prospects.

Wed Rockpile: Did Rockies do enough to contend?

The Rockies appear to have made most of the moves that their payroll flexibility will allow this off-season. Is the team the front office has built strong enough to contend?

2013 Rockies ownership review

The Monforts want to win - but they don't want to sacrifice the club's profitability to do so. To win, the Rockies to spend money to make money - but the Rockies first need to put the right brain trust in place to spend that money wisely.

Wed Rockpile: Anderson trade is worthwhile risk

The Brett Anderson for Drew Pomeranz and Chris Jensen trade is exactly the kind of move I've been exhorting the Rockies to make for years now.

Wednesday Rockpile: Fowler trade makes no sense

In trading Dexter Fowler to the Houston Astros for fourth outfielder Brandon Barnes and struggling young pitcher Jordan Lyles, the Colorado Rockies traded a quarter for a dime and a nickel - and then used that 15 cents to buy an over the hill 1B.

The verdict is in: the Internet hates the Dexter Fowler trade for the Rockies

2013 Colorado Rockies coaching review

The Rockies are an organization known for their loyalty. That's why it was interesting to see Walt Weiss given a one year deal as a new manager coming into 2013. Whatever it was that Weiss did this year was good enough for a three year extension.

Wednesday Rockpile: O'Dowd's plan for the Rockies

In Dan O'Dowd's interview with Dave Krieger, he made several very interesting comments about Wilin Rosario, Juan Nicasio, and more that I'd like to see if I can parse and see what they say about the plan for the 2014 Rockies and beyond.

Rockies starting position players - 2013 review

Plenty has been written this off-season already about how the Rockies need to improve their supporting cast - but what about the starters? Here's a brief recap of how the starting position players did in 2013 and what we can expect from them in 2014.

Wednesday Rockpile: Bullpen is key to 2014 success

Colorado's addition of LaTroy Hawkins will help bolster the bullpen - but is that enough for a team that it needs its bullpen as much as the Rockies do?

Wednesday Rockpile: Tulo should stay, no on Ruiz

Troy Tulowitzki is an elite player on a rate basis that should not be dealt under most circumstances - and St. Louis is unlikely to provide those circumstances. Let's move on, shall we?

Ranking the Rockies #5: Tyler Chatwood

Tyler Chatwood's had a strange road to this point. A strong 2013 vaulted Chatwood from a glut of talented young arms with question marks to an established major league starter. Can he maintain that level of performance in 2014?

Ranking the Rockies #8: Adam Ottavino

Adam Ottavino was a revelation in 2013 as a long reliever for the Rockies - so much so that he ranks above everyday players like Michael Cuddyer and Wilin Rosario in rWAR.

Wednesday Rockpile: Monforts embarrass the Rockies

With his second DUI arrest, Charlie Monfort has once again recklessly endangered the lives of drivers. No wonder he's been phased out of decision-making for the Rockies. Maybe it's time that the Monforts stepped away from baseball ops altogether.
