UFC 125: Nate Diaz vs Stun Gun in the works for Jan. 1
Not even the most jaded fight fan can ignore this one.
UFC 125 is looking to bring fireworks to the MGM Grand after securing verbal agreements between welterweight warriors Nate Diaz and Dong-Hyun Kim, tentatively scheduled for Jan. 1 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Korea's MFight announced the pending deal yesterday afternoon.
Diaz tinkered with the lightweight division to mixed results before returning to 170-pounds at UFC 111 back in March. It was a move that left nobody second guessing him as he pounded out Rory Markham just three minutes into the opening round.
Another stiff test awaited him in Marcus Davis and it was another one he passed with flying colors. The wily grappler detonated the "Irish Hand Grenade" via guillotine choke to close out their UFC 118 contest last August.
Worst dive ever?
I know this is an MMA site and a lot of you guys are for some reason offended by the very mention of --gasp-- boxing here, but check this shit out, homeslices. It might just reaffirm your hatred and scorn for the sweet science. As many of the regs here know, I have vehemently defended the sport of boxing on this site for a couple of years now... but even I had to laugh out loud.

Strikeforce: 'Nashville' media conference call highlights and quick recap
"I don’t know where it’s going to go. I know that I’m going to win. I got this thing out there called a Cuban Style. You can ask anybody in my training camp about it. The Cuban Style’s going to win. You know what I’m saying. You’ll see the Cuban Style come fight time. It’s a new thing I just put together, it’s pretty damn raw. If you watch the Cubans in boxing and wrestling and judo, they have a certain style of fight that I’m going to implement in this fight.... It’s tight."
-- "Havana" Mo Lawal talks about his new style, which he will showcase on CBS against Gegard Mousasi for the Strikeforce light heavyweight championship
Strikeforce held a media conference call today (April 6) to promote its co-main event light-heavyweight title fight between champion Gegard Mousasi and challenger "King" Mo Lawal on the promotion's April 17 "Nashville" card.
There were fireworks at a recent press conference between these two, and their comments in the media suggest an intense dislike for each other.
Here's a sampling of some of the more pertinent remarks made by both fighters this afternoon:
Ring of Fire 37 results and recap for 'Warlords'
When you hear the words "Ring of Fire," your first association may be with a particularly potent brand of hot sauce. Fight fans in the know, however, will recognize it as the name of a regional mixed martial arts promotion whose latest undertaking, Ring of Fire 37: "Warlords", rocked the Omaha Civic Auditorium in Nebraska this evening (March 5).
The Internet pay-per-view (PPV) card featured a smattering of former UFC talent, with a showcased main event attraction that pitted veteran lightweight kickboxer Alonzo Martinez against stand-up-turned-submission fighter Demi Deeds.
UFC veterans John "The Natural" Alessio, Justin Wren, Chad Reiner and Luke Caudillo were also in action.
The Ring of Fire (ROF) promotion is your typical small-time fight show. The cage is smaller than what you'd expect from the UFC and Strikeforce and fans were sprawled around fold-up tables replete with beer buckets and plenty of tight shirts.
One unexpected bonus: Abnormally hot ring girls. Nice work, ROF.
As for the broadcasters calling the fights ... well, did I mention that Go Fight Live (GFL) offers these kinds of events for only $9.95? Right. Now let's get to the action.
