Portland is one of your wife's girlfriends back in college, Utah and Boozer are your future wife, and you are the Chicago Bulls. Your future wife's girlfriend has some very nice looking assets. She talks a big game, but in essence she really doesn't bring too much to the table except a lot of trouble, and she is too selfish for anything substantial to come out of the relationship. You know she is just into everything for herself. One day your future wife, her girlfriend, and you are sitting around drinking way too much in your apartment. Her girlfriend is pretty bold and from her history you have seen that she is not afraid to make a deal. After a while, she suggest a threesome.

Your first reaction is, "YES!", but you try to play it cool because you don't want to piss off your future wife or screw up something good, but you have been checking out her girlfriend since you were all in the dorms. Her girlfriend has a very nice rack. You have been very tempted to suggest a 3 way in the past because all of your former girlfriends never had any juggs like these. You yearn for them.

Your future wife knows what she wants: Money & Championships. Championship being your hand in marriage and money being - well your money. She understands if she plays out her last year in college then you stay to finish up your last semester, she might lose you with nothing to show for it. Because she really wants your hand in marriage, she actually accepts the deal.

Now the ball is in your court. The easy thing to do is drop trow and accept the deal. You are smarter than this. No, really you are. You also have your eye on a championship too. Since you are a thinker, you understand what this deal really represents. After this deal happens and next year when you're away at school by yourself, you are going to jump from girl to girl enjoying your last semester in college. Sounds like fun, but after everything is said in done, you realize that that girl you have been calling your future wife is just an exgirlfriend, and you are sitting there with nothing.

This is two seperate deals and makes no sense for the Bulls to do. The Bulls will lose there best back court defender. He is not losing value with a declining contract and will leave the Bulls with a huge whole at the two. A rotation of Rose, Salmons, Kirk, Pargo is a decent rotation. A rotation of Rose, Salmons, Pargo, and Blake is very limited. The goal is to make this team look as attractive as possible for freeagents in the summer of 2010. Keeping Captain Kirk while adding Boozer does this.

The Bulls should just do the deal with Utah and wait to see if this team meshes without including Portland. The Bulls will be leaving themselves with options. They can do a trade deadline deal or sign in trade deal in 2010 with a still valuable Captain Kirk, or let Boozer walk for a better power forward. Your golden child (Wade)could still be signed in a sign in trade for Kirk next year. Then, Boozer could be resigned going over the cap because the Bulls would have his rights.

Getting back to your college days, you have the opportunity to do the deal with the devil or figure things out with your future wife. That pesky future wife's girlfriend is very tempting, but you see right through her. Yes, you got a little somthing out of her, but it is going to ruin something better that you already have going. Sometimes the path less traveled leads to some amazing things. You skipped out on paper which seemed like a good deal, and your friends are definately going to let you have it for a while. The name calling will be a small price to pay.

Since you made the deal with your furture wife, you settle down, and start to reaping the benefits of a great realtionship. She becomes your wife, and the fruit of your labor reveals a promising sign. She is pregnant. You cannot wait to meet your future son, so you go out and buy a onesie today with his name on it: Dwayne with a # 3 on the butt of the onsie. If the child is a girl, just name her Kirk and be very thankful for all you have. You are still married in a heathly relationship, and can still try for another boy, so be happy. You could have been left with nothing.

Apparently, nobody told the Bulls that they are allowed to start signing free agents. (footnote: Jrome) I know they are sitting back and waiting and trying to do the smart thing, but isn’t that what put the Bulls in there current state? The wait and see and weigh out every possible scenario is a recipe for meritocracy not excellence. I would rather take the Bull by the horn and make things happen. Deng & BG are complimentary players not All-star. Why don’t the Bulls get a budding All-star in Josh Smith?

The Bulls should overpay for Josh Smith and hope Atlanta’s management is too scared to match the offer. They already have Al Horford at the power forward position and Marvin is not the answer at SF. Let the Hawk settle for Deng while the Bulls steal an All-star.

The next step is to solidify the small forward position. The Bulls could keep Noce playing SF and be okay, but I would rather shoot for the moon. The Pistons want a shake up. Trade away Noce & Tyrus for Tayshaun Prince. The money works and Tyrus has to have some value for Joey D because he has played absolutely nuts vs the Pistons.

Finally, sign BG to 7 – 9 million a year. Without Noce’s reserve contract, the Bulls could afford to pay Ben his money. Kirk could stay around to ease in Rose to the point guard role. By the time Rose, is ready to take over Kirk will still be an affordable serviceable vet.

I have found the perfect trade partner for the Bulls- the Denver Nuggets. This team is the ying to the Bulls yang. Their coach understands what Paxson already knows about his own team; they need to make major changes if they are going to compete with the top team’s in their conference. Denver has too much scoring and not enough defense. Here me out before you start bashing. The Bulls need to finally part ways with a couple of their favorite players to bring in a superstar. I am not a huge Carmelo Anthony fan, but he is available, and he is a superstar. He might not play too much D or have too much heart on the defensive end, but if you surround him with Tyrus, Thabo, & Noce, they can help cover Melo’s defensive deficiencies, and take the pressure off them on the offensive end.

Here is my proposed package:

Bulls Send to Denver: Deng, Kirk, Gooden.

Bulls Receive: Melo & Nene.

After this trade the Bulls draft Rose & resign BG. The Bulls add a superstar & some beefy height in Nene. Without filling out the entire roster, this is how the top 8 players shape up.

PG- Rose
SG- Thabo/ BG

SF- Melo/ Noce

PF- Tyrus

C- Noah / Nene

Oh yeah & Hughes.

Denver has 1 defensive player and only guys who want to score. They also need to shake things up. They are stuck with a bunch of long-term contracts, especially in the frontcourt with Nene, Camby, & Kmart all around 10-13 mil a year. Also, there are not enough shots to go around for Melo, AI, & JR Smith. Deng will replace Melo with a more all around game & Kirk will complement JR or AI in the backcourt. Finally, Gooden will provide a solid big body and cap relief for Denver with his expiring deal

I’m not sure if this will work money wise because things get confusing with Deng situation & base year compensation, but at first glance, it looks like it can work.

Imagine this: Rose breaking his man down off the dribble. He is at the free-throw line. He has a wide-open Ben Gordon on his left and a wide-open Melo on his right, but instead he throws an alley-oop to Tyrus. Sweet. Okay - bash away, but I did call the Hughes for Corpse trade two weeks before it went down.

How can the Bull's acquire a star?

Watching Lebron and Kobe lift their teams to victory on Sunday is about as frustrating as the whole 2008 Chicago Bulls season. I know it is cliché, but the Bulls need a star to lift them to the next level and deliver in the clutch. Without a star, this Bull's team will continue to be a perennial first round speed bump of contender on their way to the finals.

How can the Bulls acquire a star? They can develop a current player, but the Bull's organization hasn't had too much luck developing young promising players. They could trade for a star, but that usually doesn't happen, and all the Bull's trade value is very low right now. The only other way is to get lucky in the lottery, but with a "playoff contending" team the ping-pong balls and odds are very low.

A high draft pick in the right year is gold for a GM. To bad the NBA isn't like other professional sports, where star players can be traded for draft picks or for a combination of draft picks & players. Another thing to make you frown is this year's special player and future number one pick is a player who would be the missing piece of the puzzle on the Bulls- Michael Beasley. Beasley would fit in perfectly between Deng & Noah, and he can score to take pressure off the guards.

As it looks now, the Miami Heat will probably have the most ping-pong balls and best chance to land Beasley. Like I stated above, teams usually do not trade down for draft picks because the talent level drops off quickly after the top tier players are drafted. Miami already has their star in Wade, and they have positioned themselves nicely to rebuild around him quicker then I could have ever imagined.

So how do you get Beasley from Miami? The Bulls will probably have a pick around 6-12 depending on the rest of the season and the lottery. It would be nice to trade up, but that is pretty far fetched, so lets be creative. What if the Bulls traded a #6 overall & Tyrus Thomas for the rights to draft #1 overall but that probably isn't enough? Tyrus Thomas's value is low which isn't helped by his minutes from Boylan's inconsistent playing time, so the Bull's would need to sweeten the pot. What if they added another young player or an attractive expiring deal like Gooden? They could also take back a bad contract like Marc Blount to give the Heat a lot of flexibility with the big Free Agent Opt Out Summer.

So here is my proposed deal:

The Bulls send:

2008 first round pick,
Tyrus Thomas,
Drew Gooden,
(and whatever else they want)

to Miami for:

2008 #1 pick
Marc Blount's horrible contract

After the Lakers-Memphis trade, I have come to the realization that the Bulls are not going to make a trade or get rid of Ben Wallace this year. I think Paxson had Memphis & LA as his two top teams to trade with. I can only imagine what is going throw Paxson's head after taht trade it had to blindside him. Gasol would have been nice, and Wallace's offense could have been easily hidden by the triangle and Kobe, but now both options are gone. What about the Kobe in the East?

Yes, another trade diary. Lebron has been in need of some muscle since Boozer left town. Also, King J needs a true point to help run the show. The Bulls need to unload their cancer, and they still have two glaring holes at SG and down low. Your not going to land a player to fix everything, so they might as well try and fill one whole and make some room for the young guys in the frontcourt.

The next 18 days are horrible for the LA Lakers. They figure out that they have too many players that require the ball in the hands to win (Kobe, Lamar, Pau, & Bynum-when he returns.) Pau & Kobe do not get along. They are a worse match since Shaq and Kobe off the court, and they not clicking on either end of the floor. Pau and Kobe get into fights about Spainish & French foreign realtions and Pau buming cigarettes to kids. It is definately not going to work out.

The Lakers lose there next 8 games going into the trade deadline. They are giving up average around 115 points a game. They are getting destroyed. They need defensive. Phil has never won with a true LOW post player. What can they do to fix this mistake???

throw in 09 1st rounder too. Pau can still be moved by himself before the trade deadline. Everything works out like Paxson planned it- in his fantasy world.

I have heard a lot of complaining about why the Bulls could not have either LaMarcus Aldridge or Brandon Roy. I was lobbying hard for Brandon Roy because he would complement Kirk and could play the point with BG. The fact of the matter is: I do not think Paxson ever wanted Tyrus Thomas. Paxson had a plan to catch a big fish, and TT was just trade bait to entice Kevin McHale to move Garnett to Chicago, but everything blew up in Paxson's face when McHale decided only deal with his old friend in Boston.

To fully understand my argument, you need to look at all the moves that happened around the time. First, McHale rejected the best Bull's trade that included Tyson Chandler, so the Bulls were trying to sweeten the deal. Paxson drafted the best athlete with the most potential, Tyrus Thomas. He also understood that any deal for KG would take multiple players, so he made a slick draft day trade to grab an extra player, Victor Khryapa. Victor would offset the loss of either Deng or Noce or both in his next trade.

Next, he wanted to dump Chandler for an expiring deal to give the Timberwolves some cap relief which would allow them to pickup a player in free agency to complement the rest of the players sent over in the KG trade. Tyson Chandler was traded for PJ Brown & JR Smith, and this part of the deal was complete. I'm not sure when the deal fell through or if JR Smith was supposed to be included, and I still don't think anyone understand why the Bulls gave away JR for nothing, but they did.

Also in Paxson's master plan, he still needed a complementary PF/C to match up with KG, so he overpaid Ben Wallace to dismantle the old champs the Pistons and solidify the Bull's frontcourt. This was going to allow the Bulls to have a 2 to 3 year run at the championship while the East was still wide open. Everything was in place, but the deal never went down, and the summer backfired more than anyone could imagine.

The Bulls are a mess and still have at least two glaring holes. It is very depressing. Tyrus Thomas was only trade bait, and Bull's fans have to watch both player selected by Portland develop into two players that could desperately help this Bulls team. Paxson went fishing, and he didn't catch anything. The worst part about going fishing is that if you don't catch anything you are left with no fish, and you realize you just had a boring day on a boat with bait. Now Paxson has to decide what to do with the leftover chum (Ben Wallace & Tyrus Thomas). Nobody likes chum if it stays around too long it is just going to smell and ruin your boat.

Recently, I have been a little worn out with all the draft speculation, so I spent some time gauging interest of Bull's players from other team's blogs that might have a scoring big for sale. I don't know if Portland is still high on fumes from getting lucky in the lottery, but both blog-nations seem very far apart, and a deal is unlikely. I decided to turn my attention to plan B, or for me plan AAZ.

The consensus among mock drafts is the Bulls are drafting Noah as an instant contributor and future Big Ben replacement, so a inside scoring big is still missing.

First, I gauged interest in Chris Duhon, but I didn't get the response I was looking for. I tried to build up the response by staying mysterious, but Spur's fans are probably taken the week off.

Secondly, I posted a comment in another thread
on "Pounding The Rock" and found Spur's fans interested in both Noce & Duhon.

Duhon and Nocioni are just what the Spurs need. I would love to have both of them. I dont know what players the Spurs will have to send to match salaries. Maybe something like Scola's rights, Ely, Udrih and soemthing else for Noce and Duhon......
AND
why not bring nocioni to San Antonio? He has spur written all over his face. He defends, rebounds, scores (a lot better than bruce) and of course is argentinian, which is always a plus.

It would be crazy, but bloggers are actually suggesting a trade that would benefit each team. The Bull's can keep their #9 and still get someone who can score in the post. Also, Scola can put in some solid minutes without hurting Tyrus's development. Scola can help the Bull's team in the post until Deng, Tyrus, or both of them get a reliable post game. On the other hand, the Spurs would reload with a solid backup point guard that they desperately need, and a SF who can replace some of the older legs in there 3 position.

This would give Paxon so much flexibility. He could draft Noah as a replacement for Big Ben, and the Bull's window for a championship just extended. Also, he could draft a project big like Yi or Hawes if he thinks one of them is going to be a star. He can develop without the instant pressure put on lottery picks. Finally, he can just grab the best player available and make this Bull's team deep at the 1 or 3 again and not have to worry about a young big because a young big would be coming in the Scola trade.

Too bad this cannot happen before the draft, but I have complete faith that Paxson already has this sitting on the back burner- right next to the boiling pot making a mess, we call Kobe.

Personally, I love reading all the draft speculation. The more teams and players the more I get intrigued, but the truth of the matter is most rumors are just rumors and many of them are made up in blogs like these. I wanted to propose a trade that will fill a need and keep it simple one player for one player. I keep seeing the same need repeated in most of the recent diarys.

The idea is what about trading Scola's rights (we don't need him anyway) for a backup point guard. Why don't we look for a player that had the best assist to turn on his team 2.95 and was fourteenth in the league in that stat (min 50 games). He even started 30 games last year on a playoff team. He is on the trading block with a very reasonable salary.

Also, he knows how to run a team and understands the concept of team defense. Because he plays with other small guards he is on the trading block. At one point in the playoffs I even saw this 6'1 guard, defending Tashaun Prince multiple possesions down the stretch in a pivotal playoff game. He just doesn't fit with his small team, and he can be had realatively cheap, so lets steal him. Send the rights to Scola for Chris Duhon of the Chicago Bulls! I cannot find 3 better backup points in the league right now
