I just read THIS ARTICLE in the Detroit Free Press. Should the NFL lift blackout restrictions for the Lions? What about the Ford's selling the team for much needed capital then the new owners pack up and leave Detroit? Interesting question. I'd be all for the Ford's selling the team. God knows they sure don't know how to run it. I'd just hate to see them end up elsewhere. i couldn't root for the "Los Angeles Lions".

I know this topic has been beaten to death...

...but, should they play Culpepper, after only 3 days of practice, or Stanton this weekend? I think they should let Stanton play for the hell of it, at least. He knows the offense better at this point and the season is already over. Give Culpepper another full week of practice before he gets thrown to the wolves, so to speak..

Weirder and weirder

I went to the game today in Cincinnati. We were behind the Cubs dugout right after the gates open. While looking down towards the dugout, two players (I believe it was D Lee and Blanco) carried out a laundry hamper from the dugout and placed it by the batters warm-up circle. There was someone in the hamper! After about 5 minutes or so, security came over and talked to the person in the hamper. Then a couple more folks came over and it looked like they were untying/untaping whomever was in the hamper. They then helped an old guy out of the hamper. He looked to be dressed in Cincinnati Reds clothing. He looked like he might be a locker room attendant or something. Does anyone have any idea just what the hell was going on? We were talking about it all day and it's still got me thinking about it. Very strange.

Good luck to all those in the Pride Of Detroit fantasy football leagues, especially those in the league with me, as you'll need it because you're playing for 2nd place anyways! :) Good luck to all and don't forget to set your rosters.

Unfortunately (or not) I won't be able to watch the game tomorrow. I will, however, follow it from my phone from the bleachers at the Cubs v Reds game.

Here's one of my favorite lines:

Ford Jr. thinks Lions are on right track

A little blurb from Billy Jr about his like of Rod Marinelli and the players he has this year. I'm surprised to hear the Ford's say anything about the team much less actually sound like they know what's going on. My take has always been that they're only worried about the cash flow and could care less if the Lions field a winner.

Interesting line in the article:

Ford wouldn’t discuss Millen—the team is 31-81 on his watch—or make predictions for the coming season.

Johnny Buzhardt, who came to the majors with and pitched for the Chicago Cubs in 1958 (3-0, 1.85 era) and 1959 (4-5, 4.97 era), has died. He was 71.
