Jim McLennan was born in Scotland, but has been a Diamondbacks fan since before there was a team, having stared into the hole that would become their stadium, on his first trip to Phoenix in 1997. He moved to Arizona in 2000 and married Chris, a.k.a. Mrs. SnakePit in 2002, proposing to her immediately after the team won the World Series the previous year. He had to do it twice, because she didn't hear him the first time. They live in West Phoenix with SnakePit Jr, their other child, the SnakePitette having moved out.

Jim started blogging in 2003, his first venture [now long evaporated from the tubes of the Internet] being called "But It's a DRY Heat..." He was asked by Blez to join the SB Nation in 2005, and his first post here followed on March 15. He also started DiamondbacksBullpen.org, a forum devoted to the team, though leaves the day-to-day running of that site to others.

He works for a web hosting company, two blocks from Chase Field, and when not cheering for the Diamondbacks, watches more films than is probably good for him. His specialties are horror, action and SF; some idea of his tastes can be found at his other sites, trashcity.org and girlswithguns.org. Readers of a nervous disposition might do best to stay clear. He also enjoys reading, but wishes he had more time for that, travel and sarcasm.

Dbacks MiLB Round-Up, 7/15: At the break

68

Very little in the way of minor-league action today for the D-backs farm teams, with the Hillsboro Hops going down 4-1 in the only game on the American continent. So let's pick a pitcher and hitter...

Paul Goldschmidt and Miguel Montero represent the Diamondbacks, on the National League roster, for the All-Star Game at Target Field in Minneapolis.

All-Star Game preview: this time, it...whatever

52

The National League takes on the American League, in a rerun of the previous @@ games. If I was in the other leagues, I'd be getting a bit upset about this.

The Week In Diamondback Tweets

It was probably a week we'll want to forget, more than one we'll want to remember. Fortunately, the Twttier is here, to make sure that doesn't happen.

Yoenis Cespedes became the first repeat winner of the All-Star Home Run Derby in 15 years at Target Field, going back-to-backbackbackbackbackbackbackbackbackbackbackback...

Home-run Derby Gameday Thread

The home-run derby will be starting around 5pm. Well, 5pm-ish. Very "ish". Here are the details and participants this year. Take a drink every time Chris Berman says "Back". We are not responsible...

Paul Goldschmidt, fan voting and the All-Star Game

When one family can vote more than a quarter of a million times, should we rethink the process?

Diamondbacks 4, Giants 8

26

The first-half of the season ended in disappointing fashion, with the Diamondbacks being doomed by two swings of the Giants' bats. One of those was by the opposing pitcher.

Will Arizona go into the All-Star break with a bang or a whimper?

Preview: ...and into the break we go.

And the long first-half - actually, it's nearer two-thirds than a half! - of the season finally comes to an end, with the rubber game of this series against the Giants.

When will Arizona have their next winning season?

125

A reader emailed me yesterday, "Just curious when you see the D-Backs having another winning season again, assuming it won't end up being this year." It's a very interesting question.

Diamondbacks 2, Giants 0: Turnabout shutout

9

The day after being kept scoreless by Tim Lincecum and the Giants, Wade Miley and the Diamondbacks did the same, four-hitting San Francisco for their third shutout of this season.

Diamondbacks 2, Giants 0

Wade Miley gave Arizona seven shutout innings and the Diamondbacks paid the Giants back for a blanking yesterday, by turning the tables and keeping them scoreless today.

Having won his first game in almost two months last time out, Wade Miley will try to make it two in a row against the Giants in San Francisco this afternoon.

Preview: Pitchers who rake

Day baseball by the cove, as Wade Miley goes up against Ryan Vogelsong. I imagine Miley is hoping to reproduce his success at the plate against Vogelsong.

Well, that wasn't quite what we hoped.

Fact. Tim Lincecum has no-hit the Padres twice in the past year. He has NEVER no-hit Paul Goldschmidt in a game.

A lot of very exciting games and feats this evening, led by our first no-hitter of the season, pitched for the Silver Hawks by Blayne Weller.

Let's talk about Addison Reed and HR/FB rates

17

Addison Reed and Brandon McCarthy have seen their pitches fly out of the park at almost record levels this year. Brandon may have gone, but can we expect Addison's rate to decrease?

First thoughts toward a 2015 Diamondbacks rotation

66

Off day for Arizona today, as they make the long trek from Phoenix to... er, San Francisco. As a talking point for the day, let's discuss who might be in our rotation on Opening Day 2015. Here are...

D-backs 4, Marlins 3: Are you Addison in disguise?

23

That was unexpected. Matinee baseball ended in a Wednesday walkoff, as the Diamondbacks scored three in the bottom of the tenth, overturning a two-run deficit to take the series against the Marlins.
