Jim McLennan was born in Scotland, but has been a Diamondbacks fan since before there was a team, having stared into the hole that would become their stadium, on his first trip to Phoenix in 1997. He moved to Arizona in 2000 and married Chris, a.k.a. Mrs. SnakePit in 2002, proposing to her immediately after the team won the World Series the previous year. He had to do it twice, because she didn't hear him the first time. They live in West Phoenix with SnakePit Jr, their other child, the SnakePitette having moved out.

Jim started blogging in 2003, his first venture [now long evaporated from the tubes of the Internet] being called "But It's a DRY Heat..." He was asked by Blez to join the SB Nation in 2005, and his first post here followed on March 15. He also started, a forum devoted to the team, though leaves the day-to-day running of that site to others.

He works for a web hosting company, two blocks from Chase Field, and when not cheering for the Diamondbacks, watches more films than is probably good for him. His specialties are horror, action and SF; some idea of his tastes can be found at his other sites, and Readers of a nervous disposition might do best to stay clear. He also enjoys reading, but wishes he had more time for that, travel and sarcasm.

Preview: Fourth time's the charm?

Will we ever beat LA again? After we failed miserably in this department last night, Wade Miley gives it his best shot this evening at Chase Field.

Your Saturday Sporcle: Hitting Streaks

In honor of Paul Goldschmidt's hitting streak, which ended at the second-longest ever by a Diamondbacks, we have a special bonus Sporcle. How many can you name of the other D-backs to have got a hit in more than a dozen consecutive games?

Diamondbacks 0, Dodgers 6

Ouch. The beatings will continue until morale improves. The third straight loss against Los Angeles was the heaviest to date, as bad McCarthy showed up ahead of schedule, and Hyun-Jin Ryu no-hit everyone except Miguel Montero.

Gameday Thread

Is this really only the third time we've faced the Dodgers in the regular season? Seems a lot more, even though it's only game #13.

Preview: Beat LA

If it's not the Giants, it must be the Dodgers. Or does it just seem that way? We take Los Angeles on in the first of a three-game set at Chase tonight.

Series Preview #5, vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

Our second "home" series against Los Angeles. This time, it's actually not taking place 7,000 miles away from Arizona.

Dbacks MiLB Round-Up 4/10: The longest night

The major league team weren't the only ones to go into extras tonight with the score tied at five, Visalia coming within one out of winning in regulation (and me getting to sleep in a timely fashion!), before going a marathon 18 innings and losing.

Diamondbackjs 6, Giants 5

A blown lead and extra innings on getaway day? What is this, 2013? Still, the result's the thing, as the D-backs clawed out a victory to give them their first series win of 2013.

Gameday Thread, #12: 4/10 vs. Giants

Each of our previous two wins were followed by multiple defeats. Can we buck the trend and take the series in San Francisco tonight?

Preview: What is this "cautious optimism" thing?

A genuinely new experience tonight. For the first time in 2014, we reach the final game of a series with a shot at winning the set. Hey, beats the previous three series, certainly...

Josh Collmenter heading back to the rotation?

In last night's game, Josh Collmenter tied a team record with a four-inning save. It seems he is being groomed for a return to the rotation - but who will he replace, and how will Josh do, going back to his original role as a starter?

Gameday Thread, #11: 4/9 @ Giants

Will someone except for Wade Miley win a game for the Diamondbacks? Here's our ninth attempt in that department, with Bronson Arroyo hoping to chew up and spit out Brandon Belt, while Paul Goldschmidt seeks to feast on Timmeh once more.

Preview: Starting over?

Hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst. Is it bad that, ten games into the season, this has become a good summation of my approach to D-backs games?

SnakeBytes, 4/9: 0-4pening Day Edition

Well, thank heavens all those Opening Days are now out of the way. Clearly not our friend this year. Mind you, neither has our pitching been friendly - except to opposing hitters...

D-backs MiLB Round-Up 4/8: Barbosa Dominates

Mobile had the day off, so there were only three games for the Diamondbacks farm system. They won one and lost two contests, but outscored their opponents 12-10 in total.

The Week In Diamondback Tweets

Fan angst, Game of Thones and CSI: McCarthy feature in this edition.

Diamondbacks 3, Giants 7: Normal service resumes

Turns out Sunday's victory over the Rockies was more a blip than any sign a corner had been turned. Another awful game from our starting pitcher condemned the D-backs to their eighth loss in the first 10 games. We're also 0-4 in Opening Days.

Diamondbacks 3, Giants 7

Another day, another crappy performance from a D-backs starter. Trevor Cahill regressed to the version we saw in Sydney, rather than the last time out, against the Giants, and Arizona was unable to extend their winning streak past, uh, one.

SnakeBytes, 4/8: Off to SF edition

The first off-day of the regular season yesterday, with the team in San Francisco, getting ready for a three-game series against the Giants, which starts at AT&T Park tonight. So some interesting nuggets elsewhere. Seven-inning games anyone?

Off-day Open Panic Thread

No D-backs game today, but at least they won yesterday, so we don't have to spend it staring at a 1-8 record. Not that 2-7 is much better, of course. So, is it time to panic?

SnakePit Fantasy Baseball: Week 1

It seems a long time since Opening Day in Sydney, but it's all covered by the first round of match-ups in the SnakePit Fantasy League. Who roared out of the gates, and who did a good impression of the Diamondbacks?

Diamondbacks 5, Rockies 3

Wade Miley has both the D-backs wins this season, a very solid eight inning outing in Coors paving the way for us to salvage the series finale. Completing a fine day, he also had three hits.

Gameday Thread, #9: 4/6 vs. Rockies

The D-backs have allowed a total of 29 runs over the last three games. They have lost all of them. These two facts may be related. Trying to keep the opposition down this afternoon will be Wade Miley. Hope he does a better job.

Preview: Rocky in the mountains

Wade Miley is the only Arizona pitcher to have got a W this season. Will he get a second one, before anyone else notches their first, and save us from a sweep at the hands of Colorado?

Paul Goldschmidt's hitting streak, by the numbers

The second-longest hitting streak in team history came to an end yesterday. Here's a look at how it was put together, and where it stands in the record books.
