Jim McLennan was born in Scotland, but has been a Diamondbacks fan since before there was a team, having stared into the hole that would become their stadium, on his first trip to Phoenix in 1997. He moved to Arizona in 2000 and married Chris, a.k.a. Mrs. SnakePit in 2002, proposing to her immediately after the team won the World Series the previous year. He had to do it twice, because she didn't hear him the first time. They live in West Phoenix with SnakePit Jr, their other child, the SnakePitette having moved out.

Jim started blogging in 2003, his first venture [now long evaporated from the tubes of the Internet] being called "But It's a DRY Heat..." He was asked by Blez to join the SB Nation in 2005, and his first post here followed on March 15. He also started, a forum devoted to the team, though leaves the day-to-day running of that site to others.

He works for a web hosting company, two blocks from Chase Field, and when not cheering for the Diamondbacks, watches more films than is probably good for him. His specialties are horror, action and SF; some idea of his tastes can be found at his other sites, and Readers of a nervous disposition might do best to stay clear. He also enjoys reading, but wishes he had more time for that, travel and sarcasm.

First thoughts toward a 2015 Diamondbacks rotation

Off day for Arizona today, as they make the long trek from Phoenix to... er, San Francisco. As a talking point for the day, let's discuss who might be in our rotation on Opening Day 2015. Here are...

D-backs 4, Marlins 3: Are you Addison in disguise?

That was unexpected. Matinee baseball ended in a Wednesday walkoff, as the Diamondbacks scored three in the bottom of the tenth, overturning a two-run deficit to take the series against the Marlins.

Diamondbacks 4, Marlins 3

Stop me if you've heard this one before. A great performance by our starting pitcher was all for naught, as a feeble offense and two-run inning from a reliever cost the Diamondbacks the game. But,...

Gameday Thread

With this game not on Fox Sports Arizona, one imagines interest may be diverted to the World Cup semi-final between Argentina and the Netherlands. Won't be making the mistake of fast-forwarding...

Preview: Reed still the closer

Well, at least if Addison Reed blows this within one strike of victory, we won't have to witness it, since this one is not being locally televised.

Dbacks MiLB Round-Up 7/8: Another Trumbomb

Mark Trumbo's rehab continues to go rather well. I think he could return to the team at any time, but it looks likely they'll be waiting until after the All-star break to add him back to the roster.

Gameday Thread

Who the heck is Vidal Nuño? We'll find out in tonight's game at Chase Field.

Preview: Vidal's so soon

Can the Diamondbacks win their third in a row, for the first time since they swept the Rockies at Coors Field?

Then Went Bronson: our 2014 rotation implosion

The departure of Brandon McCarthy and the loss of Bronson Arroyo to Tommy John surgery means that Wade Miley is the only current member of our rotation to survive from Opening Day, barely three...

The Week In Diamondback Tweets

I think Brandon McCarthy's trade to New York is actually part of a cunning plan to acquire the fans of all 30 teams as Twitter followers.

SnakeBytes, 7/8: Tommy John v5.0 edition

Oh, look: a Diamondbacks pitcher needs Tommy John surgery. It must be Tuesday.

Gameday Thread, #91: 7/7 vs. Marlins

There hasn't been much luck for the Diamondbacks so far on 7/7; will things change tonight, as Chase Anderson takes on the Marlins. Based on how this season is going, Paul Goldschmidt will probably...

Preview: Stanton comes alive

A quick stop off in Phoenix for the Diamondbacks, as they pass through from Atlanta, on their way to San Francisco, for a three-game set against the Marlins.

Introducing FanDuel

Like fantasy baseball, but not interested in a season-long slog? We have an alternative...

SnakePit Fantasy Baseball, Week 14

A lot of close games, with only one of the seven decided by a margin of more than 6-4. And, hey, we have the same leader as last week, even though their margin was significantly reduced.

Analyzing the McCarthy for Nuno deal

The cleaning of house continues, with another piece marked "not wanted on voyage" as the Diamondbacks set sail on their journey into the future, away from Win Now Island.

Goldschmidt elected starting 1B for NL All-Stars

Paul Goldschmidt has been elected to start at first-base for the National League in the All-Star Game in Minneapolis later this month.

All-star Game Selection Show Open Thread

Will the Diamondbacks have their first starter voted in since 2001? The show starts at 4pm Arizona time on ESPN.

D-backs 3, Braves 1: Wade = W, no "ade" neede

Miley has been winless for so long, he was considering changing his name to NDade Miley. But this afternoon, he pitched well and the offense proved just good enough to give him his first victory in...

Diamondbacks 3, Braves 1

Arizona staved off the sweep, as a two-run home-run from Paul Goldschmidt and a solid performance from Wade Miley, brought the latter his first W since May 10.

Gameday Thread

Wade Miley will probably need more help from his offense than we've seen in the first two games of the series, if we're to avoid a sweep at the hands of the Braves in Atlanta.

Preview: Tankapalooza 2014 gets under way

The first game of the post-McCarthy era, and it's time for the return of an old friend...

Analyzing the Thatcher/Campana for prospects deal

And they're off! The first big deal of the 2014 season for the D-backs, saw left-handed reliever Joe Thatcher and speedy outfielder Tony Campana traded to the Angels for two prospects. Let's look...

Diamondbacks 4, Braves 10: Well, that sucked

This wasn't even "if a tree falls in the forest" kind of suckage, where it's mostly people who already know how bad we are, that get to see it. Weren't sure why Arizona has the worst record in the...

Diamondbacks 4, Braves 10

Things looked promising early for the Diamondbacks, but that didn't last. A five-run fourth gave the Braves the lead for good, and there was precious little to cheer about, as the entire nation got...

Gameday Thread

The first game of the post-Thatcher - or post-Campana era, if you prefer. Eury de la Rosa replaced Thatcher, and one presumes, will be our backup LOOGY to Oliver Perez.
