Bring on the National Championship!

Really, go back and listen to what Kyle said in his interviews with ESPN.

If nobody is in front of our undefeated Utah team at the end of the season..."there is a good case for Utah to be in the National Championship game." - Kyle Whittingham

So we are undefeated with three other teams. Two of which are below us in the polls and probably won't even make it to a BCS game. What is wrong with the BCS? Two undefeated teams probably not going to the BCS? The other is Alabama, who ESPN is thinking we will be playing in the Sugar Bowl. So already they are counting out Alabama from the Championship. If Alabama really does lose to the Gators in the SEC championship. Why should we be denied the chance to a National Championship?

Because we are not in the "Big 6"? Well, we have been undefeated two years out of five. Thats better than even probable National Championship prospect, Florida. Even still though, what does it take to get into one of these conferences? We go undefeated twice in the past five years. Maybe we need better competition? Just an idea.

Could we have fared against a schedule that a team in the "Big 6" had? What difference does this make? We beat the teams on our schedule. Three of which are in the top 25 right now. That's better than USC, who has only beat two of the top 25 teams right now. Losing to another. So if we were in the Pac-10 this year, could we have gone undefeated? Who knows. Looks to be like we could have.

Now, I'm not saying Utah can beat any team in the nation. Or even that they could win the National Championship game if they were placed in it. But really, who thought Ohio State had a chance the last two years? Who thought Oklahoma had a chance to beat USC in 2004? I think with preparation tho, we could play tough against any team in the nation. I'm just saying though, that Utah needs to be considered as National Championship contenders.

Ranked Teams Above Utah

Of the teams above Utah in the polls, which of them do you think is most likely to lose?

#1 Texas plays #6 Oklahoma State, this is a big game for Utah because if Texas completely dominates these guys, Utah could move up. If OSU wins, that could keep both of them ahead of the Utes. As much as I would like to see Texas lose, I think we should wait a week or two before that. I like moving up in front of OSU.

#2 Alabama plays a weak looking Tennessee team. That would be one of the greatest things for Tennessee to beat Alabama, but I don't see that one happening at all.

#3 Penn State plays #9 Ohio State. This is another big one for Utah, if Penn State wins we will most likely move up in the polls. While if Ohio State wins, this could leave both teams still ahead of us. Same dilemma as the Texas game. I think Penn State wins this game. They look like the best team in the country. Texas looks to be right there also.

#4 Oklahoma goes up against Kansas State who is 4-3 on the year. This one is unlikely, but we will see. I would say Oklahoma dominates this game from start to finish.

#5 USC plays an uprising Arizona team who is 5-2, 4-0 at home. USC has to travel to Arizona, this would be on my upset watch, Arizona has been quiet through the season to a point. I, personally, would not be surprised to see USC go down. I think USC is a great team, but Arizona looks to be a bit of a force and especially on their own turf. This is a tough one, but I think Arizona can do it and pull off the upset on USC.

#7 Georgia plays #13 LSU, this is another intriguing game for the Utes, if LSU wins, we probably won't move because of this game because LSU will probably jump over us. While Georgia wins and they could move up depending on the other games. Then knock LSU down away from us. That would be nice. I think it being at LSU, LSU will probably win. Georgia drops underneath us but LSU jumps in front of us, no movement from this game.

#8 Texas Tech takes on #23 Kansas, I think it willl be tough for Kansas to win, but it is on their field, Texas Tech looks good but they haven't played much this yeaer so far. I think Kansas could pull it off but it might be a small miracle. I think Tech prevails and stays up in front of us.

Finally, #10 Florida plays Kentucky. This game is at the Swamp and should be an easy W for the Gators, but they lost to Ole Miss in the Swamp, who knows. Maybe Kentucky will surprise everyone, just like Ole Miss. Although, I doubt this will happen, I think Florida wins big and moves up in the polls.

So now that I went over the teams ahead of Utah, what do you think? Who will win and who will lose ahead of us? Will Utah move up, down, or stay the same in their idle week? Will Boise State, who plays a tough San Jose State, jump right over us and become the front runner for the BCS? I think there are going to be enough teams losing in front of us we will move up regardless of LSU and BSU jumping us.

This is a HUGE what if, but what if Utah were to be put into the Pac-10?

This is a HUGE what if, but what if Utah were to be put into the Pac-10? What do you think our record would be the first year of playing in football? I think we could go through with one loss in the conference. That loss coming to USC. Then through the non-conference depending who we play would determine the rest. What does everyone else think?

What about basketball? How well do you think we could do with that? I think that is where we would get dominated. We haven't done well in our conference, and the Pac-10 has so many better teams than we have with basketball. I was just wondering what everyone else thought about it.

Do you think Utah would be ranked?

Alright well I have a couple of questions. I just wanted to see what you think. First, if Utah beat the team down south do you think we would have been ranked going into the bowl game? Then the next question. At the start of next year. Do you think we will be ranked? We have an awesome quarterback returning, amazing running back, great recievers and about the same defense. Which was incredible this year (except maybe UNLV). Tell me what you think? I think we could go ranked into the next season starting it off with hopefully a huge win for us in Ann Arbor against Michigan.

My sister and my brother came home from Wal-Mart teh otehr day and ran in and were freaking out because they said that they had just seen Kyle Whittingham.

My sister and my brother came home from Wal-Mart teh otehr day and ran in and were freaking out because they said that they had just seen Kyle Whittingham. I denied it but they went on to tell the whole story. My little brother had a Alex Smith jersey on that day and they were walking out of Wal-Mart when a guy walked up who was on his cell phone and he said "Hey who's number 11 I don't know any 11 on the Utes." As my syblings were about to say Alex Smith the guy said "Is that Alex Smith?" They said yeah and ended up walking away well my sister not being exactly the biggest Ute fan just thought he was friendly but my little brother said when they were out of earshot "That was Kyle Whittingham!"

So when they got home and told me this I still denied it but how cool would that have been to see him while you are just walking around the town you live in. I asked them why didn't they say anything to him. They both jsut say that I wouldn't have said anything. I really think I would have said something if I would have been there especially at least say something like "Are you Kyle Whittingham..." I don't know but my syblings were stoked.
