Defensive end: 3. Osi Umenyiora, Giants; 4. Justin Tuck, Giants: I like both of those players, but this is when you know it's about popularity. It's ridiculous that Trent Cole's not among the top five. And Andre Carter of the Redskins should be in there, too.

Congrats to Osi for being the most over rated DE in the NFL. Tuck? Good DE but with all the injuries he's pretty much been a non factor. The two best DEs in the NFC are Jared Allen and Trent Cole.

Fullbacks: 2. Leonard Weaver, Eagles; 3. Deon Anderson, Cowboys; 5. Madison Hedgecock, Giants. Weaver has brought another dimension to the Eagles' offense with his running ability. Anderson's a pretty good point of attack guy. Looks like Weaver has a lot of catching up to do on Naufahu Tahi of the Vikings.

I'll be honest I know nothing of Naufahu Tahi. Is t his guy the next Lorenzo Neal? If not, I don't see how he holds a candle to Weaver who's been nothing short of impressive.

Punters: 2. Jeff Feagles, Giants; 4. Mat McBriar, Cowboys: McBriar's quietly having a huge season. Hopefully the coaches and players will recognize that.

FEAGLES? He's been amazing in recent years but at this point I think I would keep Sav over Feagles -- he's been dreadful. I'll give it to McBriar that mother fucker can boot 'em.

Tight ends: 4. Jason Witten, Cowboys: He has 243,220 votes and he'll get a strong push from the coaches and players. Right now he trails Tony Gonzalez, Jeremy Shockey and Vernon Davis. Shockey's had a nice season but he doesn't deserve to go in front of Witten. Eagles fans need to go online immediately and help out Celek. His numbers are off the charts this season.

Celek is going to get screwed. His stats are more gaudy than WItten's and more so than Shockey's. I guess he's going to have to have another big season before he gets his name recognized.

FYI it looks like Samuel WILL be the starter along Charles Woodson and DJack will be in the pro bowl as a WR.

Injury Updates

Eagles rookie wide receiver Jeremy Maclin needed walkers to make it out of the locker room last night. It's the product of an injury to his plantar fascia and here's how coach Andy Reid described it earlier this afternoon:

"From what I understand, without being a doctor, is that you have two strands that make up plantar fasciitis," said Reid. "He tore one of those strands. The other strand is a non-weight bearing strand so he should be OK, probably not this week, possibly next week."

Reid said he wouldn't immediately make a roster move at wide receiver because he wants to see how much progress Kevin Curtis makes this week. Reid also revealed that tight end Brent Celek has a sore back that he ended up playing through in Sunday night's game.

A team source told me earlier today that Celek's back tightened up on him in the hours leading up to kickoff. He wasn't moving around very well but some pain medication calmed things down. Celek went out and had five catches for 64 yards and a touchdown. It was his seventh touchdown of the season.

Defensive end Trent Cole is day to day with a hamstring sprain, fullback Leonard Weaver has a slight hamstring sprain and running back Brian Westbrook did not have any setbacks over the weekend. Reid was non-committal as to whether Westbrook would continue to work with the scout team this week. He said he would wait until Wednesday to make that decision.

Hamstring injuries seem to be killing us.

Even if we're not playing great ball at times, we're still winning tight games. The mid season Eagles and Eagles teams of the past found ways to lose these games. Usually when the stars align themselves the Eagles let us down...however, We're not giving up huge plays on S/T and for the most part we're not turning the ball over.

Since, I get crushed for saying anything negative about McNabb -- I'll say it: He played great tonight besides maybe two whole throws and one could've been on Celek.

Oh, and ALL HAIL DeSean Jackson. 250+ all purpose yards? Oh, are we all convinced that Vick can help us make plays now? I hope so.

The only down side is our defense looks so ridiculously bad I can't remember a game where they gave up 500+ yards.. Sheldon needs to get healthy FAST coming down the stretch since he's vulnerable to the big play.Maybe Jordan was a bit rusty? Who knows.

What a crazy game, good game all.

S: Victor Harris – Philadelphia Eagles

With Matt Ryan and Michael Turner sidelined, it was obvious that the Falcons were going to try and get the ball to tight end Tony Gonzalez all afternoon. However each time Chris Redman looked his way, Harris was right there with him. He shut him down all afternoon, shadowing his every move while maintaining a physical presence against the much bigger Gonzalez. The majority of Gonalez’s 8 receptions were when Harris was off the field but when he was there, Atlanta had to really adjust their approach.

Honorable Mention: Louis Delmas – Detroit Lions

He will be very key with the rest of our secondary banged up or out on suspension this week.

What does it take to win a championship?

I was thinking (probably a bad thing) while working today.. We all want to throw our coaching staff out and start fresh. But really, how many things have to go your way for your team to win a championship?

I noticed a few things:

A) Injuries. The team has to have any depth to cover injuries and if the injury bug gets bad enough at a bad time it can become too much for a team to over come. How many SB teams have we seen come through who got killed with injuries?

B) Schedule -- Almost every SB in recent memory has had soft(ish)/(er) schedule. It makes playing consistent much easier and if you hit a few injury plagued weeks, it eases the blows.

C) Playing hot at the right time. Like the Steelers in 05 and Giants in 07 both of these teams played red hot in the playoffs. You can be 12-4 in regular season and if a team is on fire that 12-4 team can be playing golf in February..Kinda like the Eagles ending the Giants season last year.

D) Mistake free. Remember the 04 patriots? Honestly, from top the bottom they weren't that spectacular talent wise. They always seemed to be in tight games, but GD they won every close game on the schedule (including the SB). Can't play good teams and make mistakes, they'll capitalize sooner or later.

E) A good QB/defense. Arguably the two most important things on the team. Both can make or break a team. To be honest, I thought the Steelers offense last year was mediocre at best. Their line sucked, skill players weren't top of the line but their defense kept them in every game and Ben Roethlisberger is probably the best QB with 2 minutes to go. Almost every SB winner has a good defens and very few have bad quarterbacks.

F) LUCK - Every SB team has the ball bounce their way a couple of times. Whether it be penalties, turnovers or miracle catches (David Tyree anyone?) there is absolutely some luck involved in this highly skilled game.

Couple that with 31 other teams in a parity league, it's not so easy getting a ring. What Reid has done is give us a chance to win it since the year 2000. Is there any other team besides the Colts that can say this? Is there any other team who is as young and talented as our roster? Has Joe Banner not tried to sign our young talent long term and bring in top flight FA every year? It tok Cowher 15 years, it might take Reid less , might take him more. Either way, Banner/Reid '10 (and beyond) baby.

Charities: Poll

OK, so everyone who donated money for Justin, I just wanted to see what you guys wanted to do with it now.

We raised over $250 dollars with me, J800, BrianS, Bye Dawk, isi_eagle,and RCeagle

All these guys are selfless people and all came together for a good cause. In fact, when I noted Justin getting a pair of tickets everyone agreed to not take the money back and just donate it to charity!!! FYI J800 donated the most money and wins the date with eagles girl5!(100 dollars).

Today when I had some time I got a list of charities that we could donate to.

Since Justin has cerebral palsy, the first charity is the UCP (united cerebral palsy ). It advocates rights for peopleof disabilities.

The second one is http://www.childfindofamerica.org/ . Child Find of America, Inc. is a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to the prevention and resolution of child abduction. It helps families afford resolutions for the missing children. (its up there as missing children of america).

The third is the http://www.sunshinefoundation.org/... This is like a make-a-wish where terminally ill, physically challenged or abused children get funding for one of their dreams.

the last is http://www.bbbs.org/site/c.diJKKYPLJvH/b.1539751/k.BDB6/Home.htm (big brothers/big sisters). This one is huge for me because I think a lot of us who live around Philly knows the importance of having a positive influence in your life.. And the fact is, theres so many kids who don't.

All of these have been checked out as top-rated charities according to the AIP

Anyone else just confused at the moment?

McNabb - Played well today and I am by far the biggest McNabb critic on here. However, usually when McNabb plays well we put up a lot of points, but we didn't.

O-line - Again, horrible run blocking. Have we had a group of guys that played together for more than one game? I don't think we have -- it's hard to pin their poor play on them.

Reid - I'm a big Reid supporter and still am, but 4th and 1 from the goal line we HAVE to go for it. I understand having 0 faith in the O-line but could he honestly say he had more faith in our makeshift defense?

The defense was pretty bad all around, but I guess we can't blame them. Bradley on IR, Hobbs on IR, Hanson suspended, and Jordan out. Not much you can do -- we're injured.

With that said, I have no idea how we can go forward and improve. Are we just mediocre talent wise? Normally I would pin our bad play on McNabb but he was the least of our problems today. Did we give a good effort and just lose to a slightly above avg Charges team? We're a couple losses away from playing golf in January.

Hi, Joe,

Thanks so much for your most generous of offers. I called the ADA Coordinator at The Meadowlands and asked him about tickets, and if we should be looking for specific ones.

He informed that it is common practice at The Meadowlands to send two tickets to any physically challenged guests, free of charge, so that they can enjoy the game with the best possible view. So he is sending me two handicap accessible seats free of charge.

I appreciate your gesture, it is has reminded me that there are truly kind hearted people left in this world. Your generosity and selflessness will not be forgotten, it has spoken to me, and rejuvenated me in a way. As a result of obtaining the free tickets, I do not want you to buy any additional tickets for me. Just know that the offer resinates with me as a reminder of good in the world.

I am still planning on writing some news outlets to let them know of your generosity and humanitarian efforts. I will copy you on those emails.

Well, without us having to pay any money we got him two tickets and I'm happy as hell for him. However, we can do one of two things

a) Buy him some nice Giants merchandise with the money we raised

b) Just return everyone's money. I am fine with doing both and at this point I would have to invest 100 dollars as i said I would match the highest contributor. It is up to you guys and hopefully our story gets covered somewhere.

The reason why Kolb might be better suited for this offense.

Is because he's your prototypical west coast quarterback.

What's interesting is that McNabb has had some good success in this system without having the intangibles for a WC offense. A lot of these short throws are like runs - - made to get 4-6 yards and maybe more if the WR is good at YAC. A good WC QB should be able to complete around 60-62% of his passes in order for it to work well. McNabb is too inacurate on his short throws to consistently make that work. How many short throws did McNabb throw over the RB/WRs head/behind him last night? I counted at least 3.

Secondly, a good WC QB should be able to get rid of the ball quickly. While I think McNabb has gotten better with this he still tends to hold onto the ball too long trying to make a play happen when it's not there. Sometimes it works, but other times it results in a turnover or sack. For instance, the TD to Celek last night and his beauty of a -1 yard rush that he should've just thrown away.

Lastly, a good WC QB needs to be able to lead WRs and put a nice touch on the ball. The whole idea is to get the ball out quickly to a WR and let them make a play. Even when McNabb throws catchable balls often our WRs/TE have to stop dead in their tracks to catch the ball going behind them, or pick it up down low.

What used to make McNabb so good was his ability to use his feet. Now he doesn't even use his feet and I really don't think he could that effectively anymore anyway.

With that being said, I think Kolb has shown some flashes that he CAN do this. A few more inconsistent games from McNabb, and it's time to pass the torch.

e) Andy Reid for not calling enough run plays (This choice is for the dummies who still thinks he calls all the plays still).

This offense is so over rated. I got killed for being negative stating the Giants D was just THAT bad more than the Eagles O was that good. This offense was talked up like it was the Saints offense or the Pats offense of 07. Tired of inconsistent play.
