It's just the bottom line; right now, we're not that good of a team.

Consistency.

This is our first major problem. We are consistently going 3 and out and putting entire games in our defense's hands. We did it against PIT, which us fans let them slide witha bunch of offensive starters missing, we did it again CHI, which we again forgave, and then we followed it up against WSH.

What are we doing consistently? Dropping balls, unbalanced play calling, and PREDICTABLE play calling. Not a recipe for success.

Let's not even get into the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th and short plays.

Special Teams

Besides Sav Rocca who is on his way to a warm place in February, as a whole, our special teams unit is not helping us win either. David Akers has been quite inaccurate on the long distance field goals for quite some time now. Our kickoff coverage is still bad and we're still not getting much production on kick returns.

Just when you think our S/T unit was fixed with the acqusistions of Demps and Jackson..

Defense

So far they have done very well as a unit. Today was just bad as they were sliced and diced for over 200 yards on the ground and we STILL can not stop the tight ends. However, it's hard to put any blame on these guys when they are on the field for much of the game due to an inept offense.

With that said all of our games have been coming down to the wire. The difference between a great team is that they find ways to win. A team like this, gives guys like me and you plenty of discussions on what the hell is going wrong out there week in week out.

As an Eagles fan I'm quite impressed by the Redskins. Ran a balanced attack. Portis runs well, campbell threw well. Everyone played well except Randle El who looks like an Eagles WR. Well Reskin fans, it finally looks like you've got a good team. If the eagles end up being the cellar dwellars I will be rooting for the hogs to destroy the cowgirls and gnatas as I hat them more.

also the fact that the skins beat dallas AND philly in back to back road games is........well impressive

How dysfunctional are the Oakland Raiders? So dysfunctional that Warren Sapp warns anybody who asks him about signing there to stay far away.

<!-- INLINE HEADSHOT (END) -->

Al Davis knows football -- it's just '60s and '70s football. That's what it is. He's thinking that Cliff Branch is outside and [Jim] Plunkett is dropping back and you can throw it 80 yards down the field -- deep ball, deep ball, deep ball.

-- Warren Sapp

<!-- PULL-QUOTE (END) -->

"Nobody tells you how bad it is," the former defensive tackle said on Showtime's "Inside the NFL." " ... any person that calls me on the telephone, [I tell them] do not go anywhere near Oakland."

Sapp, who retired after the 2007 season -- his fourth with the Raiders -- said that Lane Kiffin, fired this week by owner Al Davis, never got a fair chance in Oakland.

"He came in there with a change of mentality. The whole system," Sapp said on "Inside the NFL." "He changed how the locker room looked because it was going to take that kind of overhaul for Oakland to become the proud franchise we all knew it was."

Sapp said Oakland won't change for the better until Davis doesn't own the team anymore.

"[Davis] is the common equation," Sapp said on "Inside the NFL." "You take him out, put him at home watching film or whatever he is doing -- you have a functioning football organization. But once he comes over the top, he goes and starts moving it around.

"Al Davis knows football -- it's just '60s and '70s football. That's what it is. He's thinking that Cliff Branch is outside and [Jim] Plunkett is dropping back and you can throw it 80 yards down the field -- deep ball, deep ball, deep ball."

Sapp even said that Davis would call in plays when Sapp was playing for the Raiders.

"I remember the first two weeks I was there, we played a preseason game. Somebody came up one time and said, 'We're going deep right here, dog.' I said, how do you know? He said, 'The phone just rang.'

"All the preparation that goes into a week of work is there, the practicing that you have to put in order to do these things, sometimes [Al Davis] messed with that part of it and that's what kills you," Sapp said on "Inside the NFL."

Lito Sheppard hires new agent... Drew Rosenhaus

[Note by JasonB, 07/17/08 8:55 AM EDT ] Thanks to JoeD for the Fanpost... Get ready for a interesting ride....

Lito Sheppard hires an agent Philadelphia fans are all too familiar with -- Drew Rosenhaus. Details were found on the Eagles official website.

The Eagles have confirmed that cornerback Lito Sheppard has hired Drew Rosenhaus as his new agent.

All indications are that Rosenhaus has told the Eagles in a meeting that Sheppard is expected to report to training camp when the veterans report on Thursday, July 24. Rookies and selected veterans report on Monday, July 21.

The Eagles responded to a report from ProFootballTalk.com, which stated that Rosenhaus was hired recently by Sheppard and met with the Eagles in Philadelphia.

Sheppard, who reported to the team's mandatory post-draft mini-camp and then did not participate in the voluntary Organized Team Activities in the spring, is part of the team's deep and talented secondary that includes starting-caliber cornerbacks in Asante Samuel, acquired as an unrestricted free agent in the off-season, and Sheldon Brown, who has been a starter since 2004 and who has played in 105 consecutive regular season and post-season games.

Head coach Andy Reid will likely address the situation, as well as many others, in his kickoff press conference on Monday afternoon at Lehigh University. Make sure to watch it live on Training Camp Live!, which starts at 4:30 p.m.

Ramsey, dread locks, the return game, and steroids!

First, the release of LaJuan Ramsey was due to the fact he wanted to be traded. According to Gary Cobb, Ramsey read the writing on the wall when Eagles used their first pick on Notre Dame's defensive tackle Trevor Laws.

Ramsey was picked up by the 49ers off of waivers but was claimed by the Patriots and the Giants also.

via www.trojanwire.com

In slightly more interesting news, a blog dedicated to athletes with dreads ranked the 20 top defensive backs with dreads.

Eagles own Asante Samuel was ranked #6.

via graphics.boston.com

The rest of the list can be found here.

If you're an avid Eagles fan you know very well about the lack of threats the Eagles have had in the return game. Not since Brian Westbrook or Brian Mitchell have we seen a return man able to take it to the house with blazing speed and nasty cut moves.

According to GCobb RB Lorenzo Booker will take care of KR duties and WR DeSean Jackson will be the PR backed up by S Quentin Demps.

Both Demps and Booker possess 4.4 forty speed and Booker has shown he has the moves to make defenders miss. DeSean is the fastest of the three and every Eagles fan in America hopes he can duplicate the success he had in college as an electrifying PR.

Is this the year the Eagles FINALLY pose a threat in the return game?

In news around the league, Terry Bradshaw admitted to using steroids back when he won Superbowls with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

via copland.udel.edu

This news is significant because it provides more evidence that professional athletes use Anabolic/Androgenic Steroids in order to enhance their performance. Now, I'm not advocating steroids by any means, but I myself have been around plenty of athletes and steroid users to know a little more about them then the general public does.

I will say I believe the general public needs to know that more of their hero's are using these drugs than they think. One player gets caught, he gets made into a villain by the media, and then branded as a cheater by the fans. When in reality, a lot more players are on them then just the one who was made a villain. Steroids are like cock roaches, if you find one player using them, there's probably a lot more that haven't been caught yet.

With that being said I would like to encourage sports fans to watch the recently released "Bigger, Faster, Stronger." It's all about performance enhancing drugs -- and it offers a side you've probably never heard before.
