In what comes as great news to season ticket holders that will already be going to the game, and intriguing news to fans that are looking for that one game to try to get out to this year, the Union have announced that the September 7 game against the New England Revolution will be Dollar Dog Night at PPL Park. Fans will be able to purchase up to four hot dogs at a time for $1 each, and can return to purchase more as they wish. The game, which takes place at 8 PM on a Wednesday, is a make-up game after the originally scheduled match was postponed in advance of Hurricane Irene.

A goal from the Chicago Fire's Pavel Pardo in his debut game with the team canceled out Veljko Paunovic's first-half tally as the Union played out a 1-1 draw with the Chicago Fire on Wednesday night. It was the Union's fourth straight road game in which they recorded at least a point. Both teams appeared slightly disjointed on offense, and were unable to create many chances. Philadelphia were probably the happier of the two sides with the draw, however, as Chicago began to find their rhythm in the second half after their goal, but instead they remain mired in last place in the East. After all the rumors and contradictions, the Philadelphia Daily News' Kerith Gabriel is reporting that Carlos Ruiz has been sold to Veracruz.

The Harrisburg City Islanders, the USL PRO affiliate of the Philadelphia Union, fell 1-0 on Tuesday night to the Rochester Rhinos in the Second Round of the tournament. The Islanders had previously eliminated the Union's PDL affiliate Reading United AC in the First Round. Rochester advances to play the Chicago Fire.
