Training Camp Buzz: Cam Newton quietly improves

"There is a train of thought from some fans that Newton hasn't proven anything yet. That he might slide back. I expect him to take a step forward close to the top-five quarterbacks in the game. There is no quarterback, no team I'd rather watch for the next 16 weeks. " I couldn't agree more.

Jake Delhomme on the Drive

Great interview with Jake, I think everyone should take a listen. Camp Notes

Article from the panthers website that had a couple of interesting tidbits including this quote from Beast talking about Kuechly:: "He kind of stays in his lane because he's a rookie, but we've opened the door and said, 'Hey, you're one of us,'" Beason said. "We don't treat him like a rookie, and we don't expect him to play like a rookie, either." Good to see he's well on his way to earning the respect of his fellow LBs as well as the coaches. Another interesting bit was about Hardy having cut off his dreads and taking a more serious approach to his profession: "I want to be noted for being a good football player and being an educated man and a good guy instead of just a guy with dreads who does dumb stuff," Hardy said. "It's a business move, just trying to be more professional, trying to show everybody that I'm serious about coming with my work hat on. " I'm glad to see he's taking it serious like DA does.

Panthers Wrap Up OTAs

Couple of good quotes in this article on I was particularly encouraged by this quote from Rivera: "Today something that happened that I thought was real interesting was that we had a couple of misaligned guys on the offensive side, and Cam got those guys aligned," Rivera said. "On defense, you hear the communication between the safeties and the linebackers – something we didn't do as well as we needed to do last year.

Otah's Knee Appears to be "OK" after MRI

I guess this is good news but the whole situation is a little too eerily similar to his past issues to think he'll be fine. I think the safe bet is to look at anything we get from Otah this year as just a bonus, and hopefully we don't hear about any "minor knee scoping" in the near future. It appears from Person's article that Otah could likely be limited in some of the offseason activities going forward.

Tyrell Sutton 1st Cut of the Day

According to Sutton's twitter account he has been cut from the team: tyrell sutton Been real Carolina but I'm gone Always hate to lose a player with Sutton's ability, but truth is he was never going to see the field in Carolina with the level of talent we have at RB. He should have more of a chance to contribute on a anther team.

Potential great news regarding URFAs this year

by SoftliSTL Chris Mortensen tells 101 ESPN in St. Louis, owners are asking that teams be able to have 3 or 4 right of first refusals this year on UFAs. This would be great news for us giving the Panthers 1st right of refusal for primarily Charles Johnson, but D-Lo and Anderson as well.
