Rangers Recall Kris Newbury

Newbury is probably the right choice for a call up if there is an ailing forward. My guess is it's Ruslan Fedotanko but I could obviously be wrong and we'll find out soon enough. It wouldn't have made sense for the Rangers to call up Mats Zuccarello since just last week Torts had him as a healthy scratch against these same Bruins.

Miele Signs with the 'Yotes

There goes that. I had hoped the Rangers would take a shot with Miele. In fact I even pleaded with Glen Sather. As Mick Jagger always said: "You can't always get what ya want".

Tortorella Shakes Things Up

After that unspeakably pathetic performance against the Islanders, it was only a matter of time before the Torts BlenderTM was given a press. The Rangers will square off against the Flyers with...

Ryan Miller Questionable This Weekend

I'm sure everyone has heard by now, but American goaltending sensation Ryan Miller is questionable for this weekends games against the Caps and Hurricanes. Since the Rangers are in full-blown scoreboard watching mode. It's worth noting. Then again, Jhonas Enroth may twice more summon his inner Hasek and surprise the heck out of everyone.

Da Costa Lands in Ottawa

Merrimack sophomore standout Stepane Da Costa had been linked as a player of interest to the Rangers. Nevertheless, Da Costa has landed in Ottawa. The Sens have something the Rangers can't guarantee; ice-time. Being awful does have its benefits.

Enroth In, Miller Out

Miller is suffering from an undisclosed injury and will be replaced by Jhonas Enroth who in all likelihood is going to play like a young Dominik Hasek.

Rangers Sign Jason Missianen

Missianen was a Habs fourth round pick in 2008 and went unsigned. He's put up pedestrian numbers as an overage player in the QMJHL. He's 6'8.. yes that's six feet eight inches. Tall, young goalies like Missianen often have trouble with their body control and it normally takes them a while to figure out their mechanics. He's still only 20 though and fills a need as the Rangers have little organizational depth in goal. Even then, this is a few sentences more than what should be dedicated to a minor league depth signing.

A Plea to Glen Sather: Please Sign Andy Miele This Summer

Thanks to Comcast not realizing that I don't pay for the sports package, I've been able to watch plenty of college hockey on the weekends. In particular, I've been watching the Miami University...

Chris Kreider Suffers a Broken Jaw, Out Indefinitely

Not even the Rangers prospects can escape the injury plague that seems to be haunting the organization. Top prospect Chris Kreider suffered a broken jaw while playing for Boston College in a 4-0...

The Absolutely Positively Without a Doubt LAST Story on Brad Richards On Blueshirt Banter (Until June)

"A lot of people were interested in our young guys but we really didn't want to trade any of our kids," said Glen Sather shortly after the NHL Trade Deadline passed. It is a telling and welcomed...

The Flyers have placed Niky Zherdev on waivers. I think everybody here knows my opinion so I'll spare everyone another post outlining why. Should the Rangers claim Zherdev (or Craig Rivet)? Discuss.

With Gaborik Out, Tortorella Needs to Stick to a Plan

John Tortorella is deservedly a Jack Adams candidate for coach of the year this season. He's finally bestowed an identity to the Rangers and has steadied the ship through wave after wave of...

The Rangers Should Consider Zherdev

Now that Marian Gaborik is likely to miss significant time with a concussion, the Rangers need to weigh their options for a top six winger to replace him. However, options are limited and prices...

Jumping over from Blueshirt Banter. I wanted to know your guys take on Bryan McCabe and his availability at the deadline. I would assume that with an expiring contract and the Panthers on the...

Bryan McCabe or Sheldon Souray, Who is the Better Option for the Rangers?

News hit the Rangers wire last night that Glen Sather and a few scouts had been in attendance for a Hershey Bears game recently. That likely means the Rangers are taking a look at Sheldon Souray....

The New York Rangers are actively scouting Edmonton Oilers castoff defenceman Sheldon Souray, and could begin the process of acquiring his services within the next few days, has learned. Rangers pro scout Kevin Maxwell is credentialed for tonight’s game in Atlantic City between the Hershey Bears and the Albany Devils, and another Rangers scout is on his way to Hershey for back-to-back Bears games Saturday and Sunday against Manitoba. Rangers general manager Glen Sather has already passed through Hershey to have a firsthand look at Souray, who is healthy and back playing for the Bears, after suffering a pair of injuries this season.
