I want HH to know that there's a least one hard-core, life-long Halos fans right here in Boston that can't want to see the Angels clinch a series in Fenway. If anyone knows what hotel the Angels are staying at tonight and when they arrive, I'm ready to go down and root the boys on in person. They need to know that they have supporters living right behind enemy lines.

I made a similar post last year, and I hope this year will bring better results:)

Go Angels!

Angels Playoff Picture: Pitching

Halos Heaven,

On the subject of our playoff pitching roster, let's hope that we can use Lackey, Santana, and Saunders as frequently as possible. Our top three match up with any top three in baseball, but there's a big drop off to Weaver and Garland. Also, I'm a little concerned about our bullpen depth in that we haven't found a solid number five guy after Oliver, Arredondo, Shields, and Frankie. Bulger, O'Day, Jepsen, and Speier have all struggled in the fifth/sixth inning or "mop up" role. Most elite teams go at least five deep in the pen, and although Loux has been the most effective, and would be my vote for this role, I think Mike might go with Speier because of his experience.

What do you think?

Best,

Will Anderson play?

HH,

There are conflicting reports, as noted in today's LA Times, regarding Anderson's vision. If his vision is, in fact, effected by his eye infection, even slightly, then he shouldn't be playing. Does anyone have up-to-the-date information on whether or not Anderson will play tonight?

I love this quote from Lackey.

"This time of year, it doesn't matter where you are -- it's the postseason, it's where you want to be, I'll pitch anywhere," Lackey said. " . . . I don't think they'll start with any extra runs [today] because of what I've done here in the last two starts. So it doesn't much matter. I'll be here, and we'll get it on."

Give them hell, big John. Give them hell!

Damn I'm fired up!

Go Halos!!!!!!!!!!!

HH,

I've relocated to Boston for graduate school, and while I haven't contributed to HH since the summer, I've continued to read the site on a regular basis. I can't wait for the series to start! Does anyone know the Angels travel itinerary for their trip to Boston - when they arrive, where they are staying, etc.? I would love to catch up with the team to let them know that they have loyal supports in the heart of Red Sox Nation. I'm wearing my gear everyday, and while I get the odd look or snide comment, my feeling is that the usual Red Sox bravado is masking a very real sense of fear and loathing.

Prepare to wrestle with the fucking panther Red Soxs Nation!

Shaking up the Batting Order

I usually prefer to let hitters work themselves out of a slump by hitting in there customary spot in the order. However, in light of the extended funk our hitters are in I think a shake up is a good idea. Has anyone heard anything regarding Sciossa shaking up the lineup? I especially would like to see Izturis and Kendrick bat higher in the order. Any other ideas? Thanks.

Granted it's very early in the season, but Brandon Wood is having a terrible start to his first season in Triple A. Here's a link to his stats at Salt Lake City.

http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?n=Brandon%2520Wood&pos=&sid=milb& ;t=p_pbp&pid=457420

Note the dismal K/BB ratio, the very thing he needs to work on the most. I love Wood's potential, but the bottom line is this guy is going to go down as one of the bigger busts in Halo history if he doesn't cut down on his K's and learn to work a walk.

Piazza killed us during the series. Why didn't we put him on his ass during the third or fourth game? I'm not advocating hitting him, rather just get him out of his comfort zone. I recall a game I saw several years ago in Anaheim against the Mariners. Glaus was tearing the cover off the ball and Pinella had enough. Consequently, Glaus had to hit the deck a few times. Nobody was hurt, just hard nose ball. I would have like to see the same with Piazza. Discuss?

This is my first Halos Heaven post. I'm going to the game tomorrow night (first game of the season) and I'm looking for a good spot to hang out before or after the game. A friend at work suggested the ESPN Zone. Any other ideas? I've been to The Catch a few times, which is OK, although a bit pretentious. I would prefer a classic sportsbar/old man bar where I can sit, drink, and talk shop (baseball) with my fellow Angels loving brethren (it is Holy Week after all). Please tell me a place like this exist in Orange County. Thanks.
