Chargers interested in Barber?
I am not just trying to get hits here. I was listening to NFL Radio on Sirius this afternoon, and one of the hosts said he believes that AJ Smith, the Chargers General Manager, might be interested in making a deal for very own Marion the Barbarian. No details, though were given on possible compensation (a current player? a draft choice(s)?). Has anyone else heard if there is any meat to this rumor?
And if it were true, what compensation would you find acceptable?
Fans are picking the Eagles
At ESPN there's a fan interactive site for picking the week's games, and nearly 60% (as of 9:52 am CT, 1/2) are going with the Eagles. I am a little surprised, but must admit that I love it. I love it that people are still picking against the 'Boys. First Tony Dungy, now the fans. I know Vega is picking the 'Boys, but fan sentiment says the Eagles win. Keep it up, people, and eat crow come Sunday night.
Witten is a Pro-Bowler
I've seen many pundits going on about how Brent Celek was snubbed in the Pro Bowl voting, and normally they compare his numbers this year to Wittens. He had more touchdown, yack yack yack. It irritates me that every one of these experts focus only on the pass-catching aspect of being a tight end.
It's time to replace...
Orlando Scandrick. He can't cover the slot anymore, at least not against the Giants' Steve Smith. How many times does Wade have to watch Scandrick miss another tackle on another simple hook route before making the change? Some will correctly observe, "But do we have anyone better?" The solution isn't to bench him, but to move Newman to the slot and Scandrick to the outside.
Yeah, he'd have to learn the technique, blah blah blah. His technique couldn't be worse now, and he killed us today. Move Newman to the slot, Wade.
A Sad Day . . . Madden Retires
Sunday nights won't be the same.
In Defense of Rashad Johnson
Rick Gosselin studies the draft more than most of us, and has for a long time. He has this to say about Johnson:
Someone inevitably emerges as my favorite player in the draft. [snip] This year my favorite player is Rashad Johnson, a safety out of Alabama. [snip] His value is as a coverage safety."
I hope we can grab him.
Plaxico Burrexx has been cut by the Giants.
Tim Ryan and Pat Kirwan were just discussing the move on Sirius/XM NFL Radio, and Kirwan immediately pegged the Cowboys as a front-runner to sign Plax. As evidence he cited both Tank Johnson and Pacman Jones, both signed by Jerry before their immediate legal future was known. Everybody knows Burress is a good athlete, and he certainly can go get the ball in the air. Personally, I know next to nothing about his route running. I just know he made Anthony Henry look bad a lot over the last several years.
For me, I'd say if you can get him on the cheap, it'd be worth it. What do you think?

Jasper Brinkley visiting Cowboys April 13
From the article:
"Brinkley, who is considered a good fit in either a three- or four-linebacker scheme, is scheduled to visit the Dallas Cowboys on April 13..."
How can you post so often?
Ahh, now we know...
p.s. - This is my first attempted FanShot, so I hope I publish right. Here goes!
Could Roscoe be that guy?
What would you say to seeing Roscoe Parrish return punts for our 'Boys?
What can be questioned, however, is whether or not Parrish - a gadget player and elite punt returner and little more - is too luxury for a team like the Bills. Considering the amount of money he's due to be paid and the amount of playing time that's no longer open to him, don't be shocked if the team looks to trade him. As many of you have astutely pointed out, keep an eye on Kansas City as a possible landing spot
That's from http://www.buffalorumblings.com/ at Buffalo Rumblings, our Bills counterpart. They're doing a series evaluating the state of their wideouts now that TO is in the fold.
I don't know if the Bills brass is thinking of moving Parrish, and have no clue what they'd want for him. But with 11 picks (potentially) to play with, I'd love it if Jerry explored this idea. Jerry, if you're reading this, find out!
