Most important question of the day
If you have no idea why this FanPost exists just go to Abe's Hot Links for Tuesday 2-15 and read the comments.
As this is the anniversay of someone doing an extrordinary amount of work and KtG hogging all the glory (as I'm sure happens often) and that since here at SCH we are all a bunch of fair minded individuals partisan jerks I feel there needs to be a poll question.
i don't know if anyone linked this about our 2 fav douches
but it kinda good. Yep. I would take them on our team
Does this worry you or excite you?
"You could pretty much take liberties with their players and not worry about the consequences. I kind of want to change that" - John Scott
The article is by David Haugh, take that as you will.
And so it begins... NHL threatened with lawsuit over approved contract
Time to back off a bit Gary, or you'll learn what Pyrrhic victory means
How is he going to score 30 goals from there?
ATL may (or not) move Buff back to D
I'd call 5 seasons a valid trend... hope Crawford can start 20 or so games
It's like Jenks' day/night splits. Can't explain it but it's true
STFU about No Niemi
ARRGH!!! Really Steve? Really!? I expected (for some foolish reason) better of you.
And I can't believe I'm saying this, but Morrissey seems to get it.
Ron Burgundy and ahnfire say I need a better title. Whatever. I highly recommend everyone to read this
I see much truth here
It's a good look at the future of the NHL as far as the business side
Modano tries his best Favre impersonation
At this point he's on my Bus List
"It's just like going to court ... Did O.J. (Simpson) really not do it?"
Oh yeah. That's a great agent.
FIRE HIM NOW NIEMI!!
If you haven't seen this yet, DO IT!
Ah Steeger, we will miss you.
Dumplanta?
Canada still hates Buff I guess...
Tallon makes his 1st move
Those are some nice picks he gets to work with this weekend (3, 15, 33, 36, 50)
Hey, Nashville wants to compete again!
swapping young guy for veteran. Yep, that's a sign of the org thinking "We can do this!"
DO NOT READ THIS!
Seriously, if you want to stay in your happy place, do not read this article about how other teams will screw the Hawks with offer sheets.
Keep talking Kaner. Please
nice opinion piece about how Kane has a personality while Crosby does not
Vancouver, where your pain is their gain
Best line?
"Without question, this is the worst train wreck in cap history"
Cup Gear! *relax, it's both teams
Some good, some meh.
That's all I'm going to say about it
Kreepy Kings Koach
this is just sick if true
Easter ticket
Well now that they've won two in a row I feel much more comfortable about Sunday's game against the Flames. The Easter game has become a tradition (3rd year in a row) with my friend Krist (a Lurker, but she's cool). Last year we brought along our friend Eric to his 1st ever hockey game. Last game of the season against Scum is when he popped his hockey cherry so neadless to say he's now a big fan. And we get to do it again Sunday!!
Which brings me to the point of this fan post. There was a 4th that was coming with us but family/work things popped up so she can't make it.
We have an extra ticket.
The Lamp Situation
First of all, thank you to the guys at SCH for setting up the Blog Watch. Great time, loved meeting everyone, Sergio and Maria were wonderful (they both bought me a drink so you know it's a cool bar). This was my best game experience when I wasn't at a game.
That being said, I have a gripe.
That damm lamp hanging down in front of the TV on the left side of the bar. *Totally in the way!* A quick trip to the local Ace Hardware (a Madden pimps himself out for them) and you can buy a $1 hook to loop the lamp over during gametime to clear the view.
LET'S GET IT DONE!
The Huet Situation
On any team there are weak points. Because weakness (in the context of a whole entity) always exists, everything has it's "weakness." Now depending on how "strong" an entity is percieved, it's weakness could be considered superior to another entities "strength" in the same catagory. It's a matter of perspective.
Some things to consider:
No goalie that has played less than 10 games in a seaon (pre/reg/post combined) has ever won a Cup.
No goalie that has won a Cup finished a season with zero losses
No Vezina winner didn't lose at least few games
Now when Hossa, Kane, Toews or Sharp go a game or two (or more!) without a point no one screams "They suck! They can't help this team win a Cup!"
Why not? Because we realize they are just one person on the ice with other players. Some games a good plan by the other team neutralizes their play. Some games they just don't "have it." But they come back the next day and try their hardest and sometimes contribute to a win. Why do we expect more from our goalie?
Every goal scored against us is not the result of bad play by the forwards or defencemen. Just like every goal against us is not the result of bad play by the goalie.
On a team that is playing at such an amazing level our worst phase of the game is better than most teams best. After all, only two other teams in the league have given up less goals than us.
And isn't that the goalie's primary job? Stop more pucks from going in our net than we put in theirs?
Huet is doing a fine job of that.
