Rodel Mayol vs Edgar Sosa
Rodel Mayol won the WBC Junior Flyweight title when the referee stopped the bout during a flurry after Mayol dropped Edgar Sosa in the 2nd round. After a number of unsuccessful fights to gain a title, Mayol finally gets to take one back home to the Philippines. Both fighters have verbally agreed to a rematch.
Marvin Sonsona vs. Alejandro Hernandez video
Marvin Sonsona fought Alejandro Hernandez at Rumble at Rama X in Rama, Ontario to a draw on Saturday. Sonsona was stripped of his WBO Super Flyweight title earlier for not making weight. Since his last fight, he has gained two inches in height and wasn't able to get down to 115. He plans on moving up to the super bantamweight division for his next fight.

I have Tim Hightower, but I picked up Beanie Wells right after his big game. Just read on Rotoworld that they aren't changing the lineup and will still have Hightower start. Who should I start for Week 11: Wells or Hightower @ St. Louis, or Kevin Smith @ Cleveland. Also, Justin Forsett, Jason Snelling, and Ladell Betts are on the wire. Should I drop Wells or Hightower for one of them? Thanks. Feel free to discuss your own team.
Edit: Also, I'm in a PPR league. And Snelling just got picked up so he's out of the picture.
URCC XIV: Eduard Folayang (5-0) took on AJ Aguon (2-1) last July to defend his welterweight title.
Here's the full fight. You can read Anton Tabuena's recap of the event here and his feature on Eduard here.

Jerome Harrison is on the wire and I'm thinking of picking him up. Who should I drop for him? I'm a little tired of waiting for Jonathan Stewart to get back to full form, but I'm afraid of dropping him if he blows up. Manningham wasn't too hot in his last game, but he was targeted 8 times. I have a feeling I might end up sticking to what I have, but I'd like to hear some suggestions. Feel free to discuss your own players here.

Marvin Sonsona beats Jose Lopez by UD
‘Marvelous’ Marvin Sonsona bacame the youngest Filipino champion in history with a decision win over Jose Lopez moments ago at Casino Rama in Ontario, Canada capturing the WBO junior bantamweight title in just his fourteenth pro fight. Both fighters felt each other out in Round 1, but in the second stanza the taller rangier Sonsona had great success in landing hooks and uppercuts under Lopez’s attack and hurt him in the closing seconds. In Round 4 Sonsona dropped Lopez hard with a well placed hook, but the cagey Puerto Rican champion survived the round.
Continued on Fightfan.com.
Haven't seen the fight, but according to people who saw it, it was a close fight. The knockdown and a point deduction from repeated low blows by Lopez secured the UD win for Sonsona. Hopefully, we'll see a video soon. I knew this wasn't going to be an easy fight for Marvin. Congratulations are in order for Marvelous Marvin Sonsona, the youngest Filipino Champion in history.

Nacho Beristain: Marquez is not ready for Mayweather
Nacho Beristain had a recent interview with the Mexican media saying that Juan Manuel Marquez is not %100 ready for Floyd Mayweather Jr. for their upcoming fight on Sept. 19. Reported by Philboxing.com:
If Marquez is unable to bring his speed up, his chances of beating Mayweather has become a lot more slim than they already are."Juan Manuel is very strong, he looks like a natural welterweight, but it worries me a lot that we can't get to the speed level that we are looking for us to be at ease, we can't compete with a fighter of the quality of Floyd Mayweather with that fu***** lack of speed. The sparring partners are not a problem, it is the work we did to increase the muscle.
He is tense and as I said he is very strong and buffed, but he has no speed at this point and that is because the weight lifting he did was excessive. Is like a soccer player after working with weights they are strong but they lack the speed and the rhythm to compete. That is the way Juan Manuel is right now I am desperate at this point. But there is still time to get him speed but the problem is that the weight lifting is giving us a hard time." said Nacho who know Juan Manuel extremely well.

UFC Series Headed to Wii, Handhelds
July 28, 2009 - THQ is hoping to build off the strong sales of UFC 2009 Undisputed and make the fighting series as multiplatform as possible.
CEO Brian Farrell announced during the company's first quarter financial call that the UFC series will appear on the Nintendo Wii and handheld consoles, and possibly by next year.
"We plan to build our UFC franchise by expanding international sales and by developing games on new platforms such as handhelds and the Nintendo Wii."
Farrell didn't comment any further about an expected release date. Though when asked about the series shifting to Wii in the following Q&A, Farrell either forgot to answer or purposely dodged the question. Nice one, Brian.
If this is a port (please not a UFC party game), it makes you wonder how Wii motion controls will be implemented if at all. I think it's another great way to introduce mma to new fans since the majority of Wii users are casual gamers. Let's just hope it doesn't suck.

Rumor: Freddie Roach to Train Ricky Hatton! [UPDATE]
From Ringtalk.com :
Los Angeles, CA- When it is announced in the coming weeks, you’ll be as surprised as I was upon learning that Freddie Roach, everybody’s 2008 trainer of the year, will train former world 140 lb. champ Ricky Hatton. That’s right! The man that trained Manny Pacquiao, who destroyed Hatton in two rounds a month ago for the world 140 lb. championship, he will now train the lad from Manchester, UK.
DON’T CRY FOR FLOYD MAYWEATHERThe elder Floyd Mayweather, the man who trained Hatton for Pacquiao, he appears to be out in the cold. Over the years Floyd Sr. has been his own worst enemy. Big mouth, acting a fool, still I respected him as a trainer. But much to my dismay, Floyd again failed to bring a fighter to another level. Didn’t do with Oscar, this before failing miserably with Hatton. Can you tell me of a fighter that Floyd’s guidance lifted to another level?
Personally, I think it's a good fit. Roach won't try to change Ricky into something he's not like Mayweather Sr. tried to.
Update: Well looks like the rumor of Roach training Ricky was simply that, a rumor. From Iron Boxing:
Boxing websites and forums are buzzing with activity regarding trainer extraordinaire, Freddie Roach, and whom he may be training next.
In a story carried by Eastsideboxing.com, but originally posted on Ringtalk.com, James Slater writes that Manny Pacquaio’s trainer, Freddie Roach, is set to become the newest instructor for Manchester, England’s Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton.
I spoke moments ago with Hatton’s manager, Paul Speak, on the matter and he said
“There is no truth in the rumor”.
Mr. Speak said that he was informed of the rumor this morning from a colleague named Craig Gibson. Gibson runs the official Ricky Hatton website and both thought the story should be corrected.
After talking with Paul Speak, I phoned Gareth Williams to confirm what Mr. Speak had told me.
Gareth Williams is the personal legal counsel to the former world champion, Ricky Hatton.
He empathically denied the tale of Roach training Hatton.
“This is just absolute nonsense. Whom are they attributing these resources to?”
Furthermore, he (Williams) echoed what Speak informed me of, that the return of “The Hitman” has not been cemented.
“He certainly has not approached Freddie Roach to train him because he hasn’t made any decisions as to whether or not he is even going to continue to fight.”
As a matter of fact, according to Speak, Hatton is on a family vacation and won’t return until early next week.
But fight fans should not anticipate an announcement regarding Hatton’s future so quickly after his return from the holiday.
“He is going to take a lot of time, maybe some weeks, possibly months, to decide what he will and wants to do with his future,” said Speak.
Looks like we're going to have to wait for an official statement from Ricky himself.
Mosley: I want Pacman now!
Looks like reports of Shane Mosley refusing to go down in weight for Manny Pacquiao were innacurate according to a statement he made yesterday:
WBA welterweight champion “Sugar” Shane Mosley announced today that he is ready to face Manny Pacquiao in the ring and is willing to meet at a catch-weight to make the fight happen. In a statement, Mosley said: “There are conflicting reports from the Pacquiao camp an upcoming fight between me and Manny Pacquiao. I want it to be known that I want to fight Pacquiao and I want to fight him now. I’m willing to meet at a catch weight to make that happen. I know this is what Freddie Roach wants as well, as he has previously stated this to press. I am the best fighter in boxing and I am ready to reclaim the title of number one pound-for-pound fighter.” Mosley last faced Antonio Margartio in January 2009 and delivered a ninth-round knockout. Pacquiao is coming off a second-round knock-out victory over Ricky Hatton in May.
