Not too much to me: I'm a 20 year-old college student, who loves the Padres and Chargers. Big fan of Radiohead, Coldplay, U2, Bob Dylan and Imogen Heap, and anything that isn't Miley Cryus and (excluding Johnny Cash) country.

Who should be the new HC & DC for the Chargers?
Regardless of what happens on Sunday @Oakland, the Norv Turner era looks like it will come to a close, along with the short tenure of Greg Manusky . We know all about the alleged rumors of Bill Cowher being interested in the soon-to-be vacant HC job, along with Jon Gruden and Jeff Fisher. But is there another coach out there we're not talking about that would be a good fit for San Diego? Same question should be asked for the soon-to-be vacant spot for Defensive Coordinator. So, let's have at it: who should be the new Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator for the San Diego Chargers, and why?
Cromarte "wasn't happy" in San Diego
Apparently, Cromarte couldn't wait to leave the Chargers. Well, after the way you shut down vs. the Jets in the playoffs (and almost everytime before that) the feeling's mutual, jerk.
Chargers say Stephen Cooper will be added to IR- signing LB Gerald Hayes
Game Thread for 4/30: Padres vs. Doyers
Dotsy here, and since jbox or Dex ain't here to make the game thread, I will.
Surprise, Surprise...
Former Padre pitcher Chris Young is headed to a familiar place....the Disabled List, according to Ken Rosenthal.
Setting the record straight
On Thursday, I frustrated many people on the Opening Day game thread (if you don't know what i'm talking about, this link should help you). I'm here to set the record straight...

Orlando Hudson said on MLB Network Radio that he will "probably" sign with the Padres (all Twitter links). The second baseman said five teams expressed interest in him and that there could be an announcement from the Padres later today.
SAN FRANCISCO -- The World Series champion San Francisco Giants have found their new shortstop, agreeing to terms with free agent Miguel Tejada on a $6.5 million, one-year contract Tuesday.
Baseball to expand postseason?
As the San Franscico Giants and Texas Rangers get set to do battle in Game 1 of the 2010 World Series, baseball is thinking about expanding the postseason.
"The doctors have told me they feel they caught the cancer early and there was not much of it there," he said in a story published Saturday.
The parotid cancer was diagnosed after the former Padres star had a third round of surgery since 1997 to remove a tumor on the parotid gland. The previous procedures found no malignancies.
Sabean also was asked about a potential change in the rotation. One suggestion has been flopping Tim Lincecum and Barry Zito on Thursday and Friday so Zito would face the Diamondbacks and Lincecum the Padres. Sabean suggested the Giants might go the other way.

NL West Watch For 9-18: Gigants vs. Brew Crew
Ryan Ludwick's 3-run home run in the top 9th not only gave us the win, but....well, I don't even want to think about what would have happened if the Padres had lost. The important thing is that we did win, CY looked great through 4 innings, and that we are tied for the NL West lead. Tonight, the Giants play game 2 in their three-game set vs the Brewers, and Yovani Galladro goes up for Milwaukee. San Fran counters with Tim "the Freak" Lincecum.
Go Brew Crew!
The Padres looked just about finished in losing three of four games to the Giants at home last weekend. Now here they are, bolstering their postseason chances, puncturing the Rockies’, defying the odds once more.
This should be a piece that should pick-up all of our battered spirits.
You don't need me to tell you that we're in a real funk, as we seen the NL West lead diminish from 6.5 games to just 3 in one week, and we've lost the NL's best overall record. We know that Ryan Ludwick has been a letdown since his acquisition from St. Louis, or that the Diamondbacks just kicked our ass 7 of the last 9 times we've played them at Chase Field. Now the vultures are beginning to circle, claiming their suspicions about the Padres were indeed correct and that they're going to crash-and-burn and miss the playoffs.

A.J. Smith is an egomaniac that must be fired. While he did a great job building the Chargers into an NFL powerhouse, he seems more content sitting on the roof watching his empire burn as he plays the fiddle instead of helping his team actually do what they are supposed to do; win the Super Bowl.

Padres Power Rankings
Even after being swept at home by the Phillies, The Padres are ranked #2 on MLB.com's Power Rankings.
San Diego has the best record in the NL and it could be the best team in the league. The Padres' hitting has caught up with its superb pitching, a dangerous combination for any opponent.
The Padres will be on Fox Saturday baseball throught the rest of the baseball season
Yesterday's loss to the Phillies on Fox Saturday Baseball was disappointing, mostly because we were on national television. The Padres will need to do a much better job of putting their best foot forward, because they're going to be on Fox Saturday Baseball mostly thought September and the last weekend series of the Regular Season in October.
Jon Morosi is 1/12 less of a douchebag.
GLB's most universally beloved and respect sports analyst targeted douchebag ranks Padres reliever Luke Gregerson #6 of the 10 most underrrated players in the MLB.
Apparently in the top of the 3rd of the Diamondbacks-Padres game, a woman was hauled off the field in protest of the Arizona Immigrtion Bill that was passed in late April of this year.
Look, there's a time a place to protesst the bill, but at a baseball game, where professional players are warming up and getting ready for their inning of work, is just rude and inconsiderate.
Jon Heyman "amazed" by the Padres
He thinks this could be one of the all-time great baseball stories.

This is great: the whiny bitches over at McCovey Chronicles have made claims as to why it's not hard to hate America's Finest City.

Why I hate the Yankees
Tonight, I'd thought I'd share how this young Padre fan became a hater of those damn Yankees. Our story begins on October 17, 1998. It was the first time i've seen my San Diego Padres in the Fall Classic, and Kevin Brown looked decent against New York. Tony Gwynn and Greg Vaghn provided all that David Wells could handle that night, as Vaghn had a two home-run night, and Gwynn's two-run blast that made the upper deck of Yankee Stadium I. That would have been the story of Game 1, had it not been for key events that set the tone for the rest of the series.
There is a persistent, relentless quality to the work of a winning baseball team. The Padres, with the best record in the National League, qualify as persistent, as relentless, and above all else, as winning.
#Padres Chris Young very encouraged after 38-pitch simulated game. "With every day I get more excited and optimistic," he said.
The hate from McCovey Chronicles is nothing short of delicious.
Our friends at McCovey Chronicles have really worked themselves into a real hate frenzy this week. After the Padres took two of three from the Giants last week, it's hard to find one blog entry or post in an open-day game thread where Giants fans aren't whining about our very existance, our fabulous starting rotation, our scary-ass bullpen, or how we've been able to shock the baseball world this season. Tonight's bitch-fest agaisnt the Friars is just absoutely beautiful. As my man 50 Cent would say: "Go 'head switch the style up / And if they hate then let 'em hate, and watch the money pile up."
Look Giants' fans: i'm sorry that "The Freak" is nowhere near the 2-time Cy Young winner he was back in '08 and '09. I'm sorry that Kung-Fu Pablo isn't hitting 20+ home runs again this year. And i'm sorry that we continue to scrap runs together and find ways to win games. Well, not really. It comes down to this fact: the Padres are, simply, a better team than your Giants this season. Complaining about the way our team plays isn't going to solve how Tim Lincecum has lost his grove, or how the team still has trouble stringing runs together.
