The Oakland Raiders signed outside linebacker Bruce Davis(notes) off the San Francisco 49ers' practice squad, the team announced on its transactions page.

Davis' father, Bruce Davis Sr., played offensive tackle for the Raiders.

The Raiders also cut former New York Giants defensive tackle Jay Alford

Guess it really wasn't a huge mistake to cut the guy in the first place. Poor guy.

I know it's wayyyy too early to even begin thinking about the draft, but watching this kid play makes me hope we get him in the draft. What a talent.

One of the most athletic linebackers I've seen play in a while. Seems like he can do anything -- pass coverage, run stopping and even punt blocking. I really miss having great LBs on the Giants, and he fits the mold for what we could really use.

Las Vegas, NV (USA)  - In light of the recent Ultimate Fight Night card and the number of ear drums bursting during the broadcast, the UFC has begun to develop a mute button for watchers at home to press whenever lightweight star Kenny Florian is fighting. The button would be able to be pressed from a home remote and would only trigger the muting of Keith's voice, so the viewer would not have to mute the TV in order to avoid permanent hearing damage.


"While we realize that fighting is an intense event", said one UFC staffer, "Keith needs to realize that his incessant screaming has become a problem and that fans are actually losing their hearing during events." The UFC's mute button technology should be ready within the coming months.

And people wonder why Giants fans are almost insulted by this "bravado" from a team that hasn't won shit in 40 years. They are now the "biggest show in town" according to Rex.

Kamal Shalorus made his WEC debut in violent fashion in November, finishing Will Kerr in just over one minute after escaping from a kneebar. It was a stunning debut for anyone making their first appearance on the national scene, a feat made all the more impressive when you consider that Shalorus is 37 years old.
