Thanks to everyone who came out to share my birthday over some typical Padre baseball. At least it’s a loss to the Mariners…now we’ve lost just as many games.

And thanks to the Pad Squad for embarrassing me with singing and good eats. The Squad provided us with a real good ice cream cake. I was totally expecting it to taste like crap, but it was good, nobody could resist it. Turns out Andre is one hell of a cook. Even when the nine of us stuffed ourselves silly with the cake the group of strangers sitting next to us finished off our dismembered remnants…no joke.

And thanks to Steve for taking half the humiliation of being sung Happy Birthday to. The Dude’s B-Day is Sunday.

And thanks to the Boston fan, that’s right Boston!

And thanks to Jbox for organizing everything. Long day at the beach then the game. Good times!

Yanks need another $400M to complete their $1.3B Stadiium. They want help from the Federal Gov't in tax reliefs...looks like that stimulus check isn't going to cut it.

He got arrested yesterday for beating his girlfriend. What a jerk.
Years ago he was in front of me at a Jbox drive-through. The teenage girl in the window had given him his food but he continued talking to her. She was young enough to be his grand-daughter. What a jerk. I couldn't take it anymore so I layed into my horn "Let's get a move on Rod!" (Really I just wanted my Spicy Crispy).

Scott Arvesen for Chris Gwynn

[editor's note, by jbox] Just in case you aren't familiar with the story behind this story, let me bring you up to speed. Jon bought a jersey a few years ago at FriarFest. The name on the back of the jersey was "Arvesen". Turns out he was a scab player back in the early 90's when the players union went on strike. One of Scott Arvesen's friends emailed us seeing if Jon was willing to give it to Arvesen as a surprise.

Last summer a friend of Scott Arvesen contacted me and asked if I wouldn't mind sending Scott the now infamous Scab jersey. I was more than happy to, but for whatever reason I played phone and email tag for the next few months.

Well in December I finally talked with Scott. A real nice guy, we chatted for about twenty minutes about his experience, the strike, and baseball in general. Because the strike was settled before the scabs ever stepped foot on a major league field Scott had no idea they even printed up jerseys. Once I got off the phone I packed it up and after twelve years number 41 was finally headed home.

So yesterday when Jbox and I headed down to Friarfest we made a bee line for the garage sale. The sale is great, all kinds of used junk from banners to pants, to jerseys. Not to mention a huge box of autographed Carlos Hernandez bats that nobody seemed to want. Best of all, the money raised goes towards the Padres foundation.

I really wanted a replacement jersey and it had to be the blue and white pinstripe jersey the Pads sported in the `90's. As soon as we walked in the door there it was! Buried beneath by a pile of recent blue, white and sand jerseys only the sleeve was showing. I grabbed it out from underneath and as soon as I read the name on the back it had to be mine...A game used Chris Gwynn jersey with ketchup stain and all. So there you have it, a perfect replacement.

[editor's note, by Dex] Jonny Dub's diaries are so random and yet he begs me to push them to the front. I don't know why I do it...

Sbeck and I headed down to the Season Ticket Holders Night at Petco. There we met up with fellow gaslampballer Tfast. A-Gone, Kouz and Randy Wolf were already on stage when we walked in. Rather than hear what they had to say, we headed straight for the merchandise sale. I picked up some Padre board shorts and a new hat.
After scoring some killer deals we filled up on free food. Padres and free food don't belong in the same sentence, but it's true, everything was free. I had two bowls of clam chowder, some popcorn, part of a pork sandwich, a hotdog and coke, oggi's pizza and some dip and dots for dessert. I was really feelin' it later.
