What [Dallas Cowboys Football] Does to the Soul
So I'm cheating just a little bit: this is a NYT article talking specifically about how baseball feeds the author's soul, but I think you could substitute any sport, and for you and me specifically Dallas Cowboys football, and it carries the same well-written message.
Packers release AJ Hawk
AJ Hawk was just released. He's only 27 years old, had 111 tackles and 3 interceptions last season, seems to be in his prime currently. Could be a great ILB pick-up if he doesn't ask for too much money.
Dez Bryant first player on the field for camp
Bryant makes a great first impression by showing up 45 minutes early for the first training camp session.
Great Jay Ratliff Interview
Great Interview with Jay Ratliff about a variety of things.
Jaguars Cut Ex-Pro Bowl DT Henderson
Jags just cut John Henderson, one of the league's best DT's in his prime. He's only 31, is he a possible target to back up Ratliff?
Ware and Ratliff Named All-Pro
Jay Ratliff received the most votes for the defensive tackle position, and DeMarcus Ware received the second-most votes behind Elvis Dumervil.
Redskins GM Vinny Cerrato Retires!
The Cerrato Era has ended for the Skins! Bruce Allen is the new GM.
Multiple Cowboys defend Wade
Brooking, Witten, Ware, and Ratliff all defend Wade from the recent media hate.
Great Article on Don Meredith's career
Must-Read article, especially for younger fans like me to learn about the kind of man Don Meredith was.
2 Workers Hurt After Fall Off Roof of Cowboys Stadium
They both sustained non-life-threatening injuries, but still hope that they don't have any long-term problems that come from this. We've had enough of those already.
Redskins’ Snyder says team has ‘let everyone down’
Just another instance to add onto this clueless owner's reputation.
Cowboys Players Flunk Cheerleader Test
Cowboys Cheerleaders have to pass a 100-question test to make the squad, so how about the players?
My First Post
What up BTB world, this is my first post after lurking for the past couple months. Since everything on God's globally-warmed earth Cowboys-related gets covered on this blog, I'm sure y'all have talked about this already. But, I was wondering about our coaches. I'll admit, I'm quite fond of the Pillsbury Doughboy also known as Wade, and I'll reserve my final judgment on Red Rocket until after this season, but the general sentiment I get is that barring a deep playoff run, Wade's out. There's talk on other sites/radio shows about bringing in a hungry and fresh Mike Shanahan, Mike Holgren, or possibly even Bill Cowher, but I'm not quite on that wagon yet. Jason Garrett (I expect) will firmly establish himself as the leading HC candidate with a successful offensive attack this year post-TO, but if Wade is out and Garrett's the HC, who steps in to lead our defense? Wade's known as arguably the best in the 3-4 business, so would his replacement be able to keep up the performance? Or, does he stay in Dallas beyond this season if we make the playoffs?
Also, John Clayton on ESPN brought up an interesting point about the scoreboard:
"What I'd like to see is a visiting quarterback hit the scoreboard with 30 seconds remaining and no timeouts and see if he can get a dead-ball ruling that is mandated for punts that hit the scoreboard. The quarterback can do this by rolling out of the pocket and firing the ball at the scoreboard. As long as he is outside the pocket and the ball is past the line of scrimmage, there can't be any intentional grounding calls.
In fact, would it not be out of line for a team with no timeouts to just throw to hit the scoreboard after each first down to reset the clock. If the scoreboard costs the Cowboys a chance to win a home game, you'll see how embarrassing the result will be."
