Petco Park Trip!
So, by now most of you know I'm coming for a visit! Needless to say I've gotten about 5 hours of sleep the past couple days due to extreme excitement. Anyway, TUESDAY, THE 20TH OF MARCH AT 12:30PM we will be going on the tour of Petco Park. When I first put that out there I was incredibly shocked to find out that GLBers actually had jobs/school/lives of their own. Who would have thought that most of us are semi-productive members of society? Anyway, yes I realize that this is going to be incredibly inconvenient for like, 90% of you, but for those other 10%, come out! Have fun! Enjoy the tour with someone who has never set foot inside Petco Park! Help me pick out Padres gear from the store! Hope to see at least one of you there!
Great shirt, or greatest shirt?
I need one of these asap
GLB Party Posse ASSEMBLE
What has two thumbs (Sorry Jonathan Holmes) and will be in San Diego/ Peoria March 15th through the 21st? THIS CHICK.

Would You Rather...
Would you rather is like, my favorite game ever, because I get to choose whatever I want, but I'm only given two options so I don't have to think too hard about it. I have a hard time making decisions...
Ryan Braun Tested Positive For A Banned Substance
I've gotta say, he his one of the last players I would have expected. Manny? Yes. A-rod? Makes sense. But Ryan Braun? Maybe it's because I didn't get to watch much baseball this season. Oh well, I'm sure it'll be interesting to see how this all unfolds.

2011 Draft OT:Day Three!
Last day of the draft! Unfortunately, I'll be driving up to Portland, so I'll miss most, if not all of today's selections. Bummer! But since you love me, you'll keep me updated by sending a tweet to @jordanming, won't you!
2011 Draft OT: Day Two
Yesterday's rounds gave us 5 new Padres. Well, 5 possible Padres if they decide to sign and such. Welcome to the family Cory Spangenberg, Joe Ross, Michael Kelly, Brett Austin, and Jace Peterson! Please don't let the Padres first round pick curse get to you. I'd just go sacrifice some sort of animal right now just to be safe. And stay away from ATVs, bars and high schools, please!
On to day two! Today features rounds 2-30, I believe. Picks 82, 112, and 143 are up next! Today's draft starts at 9 am PST. Follow along at mlb.com with their draft tracker. You can listen along on there too! A lot of good kids are still out there, including 15 of mlb.com's top 50.
2011 Draft OT: Day One
IT'S DRAFT DAY ERRYBODY! I am so excited. The draft is my 2nd Christmas. I am so excited to see what Santa Jed and his elves have found for us Padres fans! Plus, the Pads get 5 picks in this first round/supplemental round! Thanks Karsten, Jon, Yorvit, and Kevin! The Pads have the 10th, 25th 48th, 54th and 58th picks. Jonathan Mayo of mlb.com has predicted that the Pads will take Taylor Jungmann, a RHP out of Texas for the 10th pick. For the 25th pick, he has the Pads taking Levi Michael, a SS out of North Carolina. However, if Mike Mahtook (OF, Louisiana State, projected 23rd pick) is still around, the Pads are likely to take a look at him as well. I can't find any projections for the other picks, so you're just going to have to deal with it. I'm sure Wonko will dig something up.
Well, post your thoughts/predictions here. The preshow starts at 3pm PST on MLBN, followed by the draft at 4pm. Join us for the excitement!
UPDATE: Corey Brock's Padre Draft Preview. Lots of good stuff in there!

Final May Beard Post! (UPDATE)
Hey kids! Guess what tomorrow is. That's Right! The last day of May! It's been a pretty good month, and I think the beards worked pretty well. Or at least this month seemed a lot less painful than April.
May Beard Update!
Okay, it's been too long since a proper May Beard update has happened. It's May 20th, guys. At this point we expect to see more than scruff. Although, I won't be mad if that's all you have. Don't be embarrassed if your beard is patchy or scraggly looking. Wear your beard proudly, my friends! You only have 11 days left in you and your beard's journey together. So, tell and show us how it's going!

Donavan Tate: Forever Broken
Okay, maybe not "forever broken" but he is out for another month with a deep bone bruise after colliding with Everett Williams last month. Williams is out for the season with a torn ACL that requires surgery. Thanks to field39 for finding this!!
Padres/Phillies 4/24/11 OT
The game started 7 minutes ago and there isn't an OT. I'm fixing it.
Unexpected Off-day NL West Watch 4/19/11
Well poop.
Donavan Tate and Everett Williams' Collision
Since SBNation is a jerk and won't let me post this as a video, here's a link to a video of Tate and Williams' collision in the outfield on Tuesday. Ouch. Tate catches the ball, however lets it roll out of his glove a few seconds later and the ump calls it a dropped catch. Manager Shawn Wooten comes out to argue the call and is ejected.
Spring Training OT 3/20/11
Padres v. The Hated Ones. It's the top of the second, and Wade's already given up a run, but Hawpe hit a home run so we're tied up. Who will be our 5th starter? Will they be reliable? Should we trust Wade at this point? Should we trust Mat at this point? Is the season already over? Is that why Dex and jbox have stopped posting OTs? Is this an audition to post OTs for the rest of the season? Is it "OTs" or "OT's?"
Spring Training 3/09/11
2 games today, both in progress. Harang is having some issues. Lueb just gave up a run, but it was on a double play which is good. The Pads are winning Luebke's game 2-1 as of right now and losing Harangs 7-0.
Linwups (copied and pasted from @FollowThePadres because I'm technology inept and don't know how to get the twitter things up here):
Against the Indians: Maybin 8, Patterson 4, Headley 5, Guzman 0, C'ham 9, Rizzo 3, Phillips 2, Cabrera 6, Durango 7. Luebke pitches.
Against the Reds: Venable 8, Bartlett 6, Hudson 4, Cantu 3, Ludwick 7, Denorfia 9, Salazar 0, Quiroz 2, Frandsen 5. Harang pitches.
Minor League Transactions as of 11/16/10
I thought it might be a good idea to keep up with the offseason signings and such, especially with the minor leaguers since those transactions aren't the ones we hear about very often. (Long sentence much?)

Brew Crew v. The Hated Giants OT 9/18/10
The Brewers MUST WIN tonight. The game's on now! Discuss!
Off Day NL West/Birthday Watch 8/23/10
Braves and Rockies are going at it now. Reds and Giants at 7 for us west coasters. Blah, blah, blah.
Now for the important stuff:
There's a birthday among us. Twitter confirms.
I love celebrating people's birthdays. I really do. You get to sing, wear silly hats, embarrass the heck out of friends, and maybe get a little tipsy. It's fun. Can you sing over the interwebs? We should try it at some point.
Anyway, happy birthday matthewverygood! I hope you had a wonderful day!

NL West Watch 6/24/2010. AKA The OT
I've never made one of these before, so I thought I'd get today's OT in early before someone beat me too it. Is that cheating? Maybe so. Mark McGwire cheated and no one's killed him for it yet. Plus, who doesn't like early OTs? Don't answer that.
