The adorable, one-side attempt at a Classic Rivalry that is the Boston College vs. UMass Amherst football game – waged mostly through bus ads probably bought by UMass – has turned downright sacrilegious. Someone put a UMass jersey on BC’s Doug Flutie statue. I know, I was shocked too: They even make UMass jerseys? –

Sonny Milano and the ongoing NCAA vs. junior hockey wars (Trending Topics Extra) | Puck Daddy - Yahoo Sports

College hockey is seemingly always at war with major juniors, and it's not exactly a fair fight. When it comes to choosing a development path, which prospects hope will bring them toward the NHL, teenaged players in North America largely have two options: 1. They can go to major junior and play 50-plus games per season at least ... 2. They can go to college and play somewhere between 34 and 45 or so.

BC Hockey: Optimism About The Offense

Sonny Milano is not walking through that door, friends. Johnny Gaudreau is not walking through that door. Kevin Hayes is not walking through that door. But here are some of the guys who are.

Report: Coveted college UFA Kevin Hayes signs with Rangers -

Hayes was a popular free agent due in part to the price and his history as a first-round draft pick, but he really became a strong candidate after he tore up college hockey in his final season. Hayes posted 65 points – second most in the nation – as a senior for Boston College, one of the best teams in the country in 2013-14. At 6-foot-3, 205 pounds, Hayes also has a pro body and good physical strength that could help lead to a quicker transition to the NHL.

Kevin Hayes narrowing list of teams, more meetings Monday -

Hayes and his agent, Robert Murray, reportedly spoke with multiple teams from Murray's office on Saturday. According to Mark Divver of The Providence Journal, the Hayes camp is taking some time Sunday to whittle that list down.

New, improved Momah back to win a spot with Eagles -

A year ago, Momah was the longest of longshots to make the Eagles' roster as an undrafted free agent. He was an intriguing 6-7, 239-pounder with 4.39 straight-line speed. But he hadn't played football in almost 2 years because of a knee injury early in his final season at Boston College, and he was so, so raw. He couldn't get off the line of scrimmage against press coverage, and he was painfully slow getting in and out of his breaks.

Eye on Boston College -

Boston College coach Steve Addazio is hoping a fifth-year transfer quarterback and a lot of extra scrimmages will help make up for some big losses offensively.

The ECHL's Elmira Jackals Sign Isaac MacLeod

The Elmira Jackals, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and AHL's Rochester Americans, announced that rookie defensemen Isaac MacLeod and Caleb Suderman have signed Standard Player Contracts for the 2014-15 season.

Seth Greenberg calls Olivier Hanlan one of nation's best

Although Boston College has struggled the past two seasons, there’s no doubt Hanlan has emerged as one of the best guards in the ACC. He closed out his freshman season by dropping 41 points in a win against Georgia Tech in the opening round of the ACC tournament and built on that performance his sophomore season. Hanlan shot 34.7 percent from deep and got to the line seven times a game.

Columbus' Milano fully committed to Boston College, Excited For Season Ahead

And of the reports that he was considering changing his mind? "I don’t really know what that was about, to be honest," said Milano. "It was just a little distraction. I’ve known I was going to BC since last November."

Top 5 Impending NCAA Hockey Free Agents (Kevin Hayes is #1)

"Even casual fans see Hayes as the top impending free agent and almost everyone envisions him signing in one of two places. Hayes was one-third of the always dangerous top line at Boston College alongside Johnny Gaudreau and Bill Arnold, and both are prospects of the Calgary Flames. Surely the Flames would love to the complete line to their organization at the same time? The other popular assumption is that to play with his older brother Jimmy in Florida will be Kevin's choice. It certainly makes sense as Kevin followed Jimmy to Boston College too. But let's be honest, while it's reasonable to suggest those two outcomes would seem to be the most likely, 27 other teams could call and make an offer that changes everything else. After all, who wouldn't want to add a 6'4, 220lb forward that scored 27 goals and 65 points in 40 games last year?"

MassLive: UMass starting QB job still up for grabs, coach likes QB depth

"University of Massachusetts quarterbacks coach Liam Coen isn't yet sure who will emerge victorious in the team's ongoing quarterback competition between incumbent A.J. Doyle and transfer newcomer Blake Frohnapfel. In fact, he's not quite sure when coach Mark Whipple will make his final judgement known, either."

Al Skinner a Candidate For College of Charleston Head Coaching Job?

Among them are Wofford head coach Mike Young, Clemson assistant Earl Grant, Tulane assistant Shammond Williams and former Boston College head coach and current Bryant associate head coach Al Skinner." - NBC Sports College Basketball Talk

Addazio on expectations for BC

"I’m really excited about this whole team, to tell you the truth, but I just know there will be bumps along the way," the coach said after practice on Shea Field on Monday morning. "And whatever it is, it is. ... So we’ve got to be steady in the boat, develop our team; [we] can’t ride that emotional roller coaster. We know what we’ve got and where we’re headed. We knew this was going to be a process to build this thing, and we’re right on schedule.
