What are you excited for this season in the NBA?

At Wake Forest, the best AD in the business, Ron Wellman, decided enough was enough. Dino Gaudio was initially hired to keep a monster recruiting class together after the untimely death of Skip Prosser, and it showed. His teams were inconsistent, never played at a level comparable to their talent, and played their worst basketball of the season in March. It took a date with Wake Forest Central (aka Rick Barnes and Texas) to get them out of the first round of the NCAAs, and then they promptly bent over and got sodomized by Kentucky. Wellman brought in the head coach of Colorado, Jeff Bzedlik, to be the anti-Gaudio. The only reason I'm not panning this hire is because Wellman has been right more often than wrong on his coaching hires. He tries to get coaches that fit into the Wake Forest culture, something that Gaudio apparently didn't (his behind the scenes behavior was the clincher in his firing according to insiders...he wasn't a nice guy in a department where even the football coach is nice to everyone). Bzedlik was struggling at Colorado, but he did do wonders at Air Force and was pretty successful as an NBA head coach. However, just like Steve Donahue, Bzedlik is going to have to get it done in the recruiting area, and that's a tall order considering the two powerhouses an hour away.

2. Jeff Bzdelik, Wake Forest Replacing Dino Gaudio The only factor that keeps Bzdelik's gig from being No. 1 on this list? The level of expectations, given that he's replacing a guy who had a 61-31 record over the past three seasons and was fired for not winning enough in the NCAA tournament. There won't be any patience for mediocrity at Wake. What makes Bzdelik's situation such a good one is that he's stepping into a very stable program: He kept Gaudio's entire top-15 recruiting class (including a quartet of four-star prospects) intact, and retained ace recruiter Jeff Battle as an associate head coach. The Deacons may miss the NCAA tournament this season after losing stars Al-Farouq Aminu and Ish Smith, but they're well-positioned for success in 2011-12 and beyond.

2011 NBA Draft Big Board: Way Too Early Edition

Pete Thamel reports Enes Kanter received benefits

2

Why is this relevant to the D-League? Well, since odds are now high he will not be eligible to play at Kentucky, the D-League is a viable option. He has seemingly burned bridges with his former team and while the rest of Europe is an option, the D-League seems like a viable option for someone who was likely one and done to the NBA. Thoughts? Odds he plays in the D League next year?

Balotelli's agent touting return to Italy??

+

Not really sure to think of this story. Surely Balotelli won't go back to Italy this soon, especially to AC Milan. It's Inter Milan's rival (if he wants to be more hated in Italy, that's how he can do it) plus they are set at striker after recently signing Ibrahimovic and Robinho, plus already having Pato, Ronaldinho, etc. I don't really believe this is going to happen but the quote seems to be legitimate from the agent.

Another ACC team with some moving parts to replace. Gone are Ike Opara, Austin da Luz, Corben Bone and Zach Schilawski to MLS. Big seasons will be needed from Austin Lubahn and to alleviate those losses, and it's a reason why the Deamon Deacons were voted to finish fourth in the ACC. By the same token, they were No. 3 in the preseason poll by NCAA. Jay Vidovich can only hope that he's recruited well and brought in the right players to step into some of these gaps.

The Sports Media celebrate Kevin Durant for something he is not

Thoughts? I tend to disagree as I think Durant seems low key. Is it the frame of reference though? Compared to Lebron and others he seems much different, but is he really? Interesting take however you view the situation.
